Question
[edit]Why did you change the edit i made in the Egyptian Arabic article, no problem im just curious MythicSushi (talk) 19:29, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! I presume you mean the edit made as IP address 154.178.36.75. The reason I reverted your edit was that you deleted the entire lead and replaced it with the letters "ng". I'm not sure whether that was what you intended to do, but deleting large sections of an article without prior discussion will generally be regarded as vandalism and reverted. If you do want to make constructive edits to the article, I would encourage you to try discussing any major changes on the article's talk page first, and to use a more informative edit summary than "I switched the article with a better one". I'll leave a welcome message on your talk page now with some links and suggestions on editing Wikipedia constructively. MCE89 (talk) 19:39, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- I apologize, that is not what i intended, i intended to replace it with this: MythicSushi (talk) 19:47, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- for some reason the article is want to replace it with dissappears everytime I paste it. Thanks for your understanding. MythicSushi (talk) 19:48, 31 December 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! I'm not sure where you're trying to paste from, but I would advise against copying and pasting text into Wikipedia pages. If you replace a lot of material from the existing article at once without prior discussion, other users are likely to revert your changes. Pasting material from elsewhere may also violate Wikipedia's copyright policies. It's generally not a good idea to "replace" an existing article, but instead to work on improving it more gradually. Speedy deletion declined: User:Vdarveau
[edit]Hello MCE89. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of User:Vdarveau, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Source material is CC-BY 4.0. Altnough unattributed and technically a copyright violation, attribution repair can be applied. Thank you. Whpq (talk) 05:09, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- Whoops my bad, thank you for the heads up! I checked the copyright policy at https://www.elgaronline.com/page/Conditions%20of%20use/terms-and-conditions and saw that it wasn't compatible, but I missed the notice on that specific article saying that it was CC-BY 4.0. Will bear that in mind in future :) MCE89 (talk) 05:15, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- No worries. I've found that journals, and journal articles can be very confounding on where to find appropriate licensing information. It is a complete mish mash so I often have to hunt around to ensure a compatible CC license hasn't been squirreled away some place odd. -- Whpq (talk) 05:22, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
Regarding Deletion of Inde News and comment
[edit]- Notability and Independent Coverage: Inde News has achieved a significant milestone by surpassing 10 million subscribers on YouTube, which is a noteworthy achievement in the digital media space. This milestone has been acknowledged in several independent and credible news sources. While the references provided may appear to overlap with press releases, the organization's impact on regional digital journalism and public discourse is undeniably significant. Additional research may uncover further reliable, independent coverage that meets WP:GNG.
- Suspicion Around Subscriber Count: While questions about subscriber engagement are valid, these concerns are speculative and do not negate the notability of the platform as evidenced by its large subscriber base. Factors like niche audience targeting, regional language content, or differences in engagement behavior among viewers can contribute to such metrics and should not be grounds for dismissal unless there is concrete evidence of malpractice. This channel is about short news you have you not checked shorts segment yet kindly check again.
- Improvement of the Article: Instead of outright deletion, the article can be tagged for improvement. I propose adding the necessary citations from reliable sources to address concerns regarding its compliance with Wikipedia’s notability guidelines. Inde News operates in a space where language-specific content and localized audiences often fly under the radar of mainstream media analysis, but this does not diminish their relevance or impact.
- Promotion Concerns: If the article appears promotional, it can be revised to ensure neutrality and adherence to Wikipedia's guidelines. A collaborative effort to edit and improve the tone, structure, and references of the article will benefit all parties.

- Hi Anish1121! I only participated in the now-closed deletion discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Inde News, so I'm not sure what you are asking me to do. The article was deleted based on a consensus at AfD that the subject did not pass WP:GNG. You might like to refer to Wikipedia:Why_was_the_page_I_created_deleted for information on Wikipedia's guidelines and on what you can do when an article is deleted. You could also try discussing this with the deleting admin, Liz, although I would recommend that you familiarise yourself a bit more with Wikipedia's deletion processes and notability guidelines first. You're not likely to get anywhere with a generic AI-generated list of points. Hope that helps, and happy to help if you have any other questions! MCE89 (talk) 19:44, 9 January 2025 (UTC)
- you can cannot defy logic. Point is point Anish1121 17:04, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- Like I said Anish1121, I'm not sure what you're expecting me to do. I have no ability to undelete the page. If you think there was something seriously improper about the AfD discussion, or if you have significant new evidence of notability that wasn't considered, then you can talk to the deleting admin. But my suggestion is that you wait until Inde News meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, as I don't think you're likely to be successful in recreating or undeleting the article right now. MCE89 (talk) 21:09, 10 January 2025 (UTC)
- You wrote: "10 million subscribers also strike me as very suspicious - their videos only get about a thousand views on average, and their most viewed video only got 25,000 views, so I'm quite sceptical that they acquired those subscribers legitimately." If you dont have enough skill or knowledge about internet then dont write whatever comes into your mind. How easily you wrote those lines about legitimacy of the subscriber without check the whole channel. Its shorts news channel and you have not check shorts segment of the channel. So if you don't have any idea how social media works then don't write anything checking the facts. Anish1121 20:49, 11 January 2025 (UTC)

- No worries, totally makes sense. Just for context, my reasoning for tagging these pages as U5 was that I noticed the very similarly-named account Pdarveau had also published ten or so pages in their user space containing copies of similar journal articles, including some of the same ones, most of which seem to have now been speedy deleted as U5/G12. My thinking was that given the sheer quantity of material across the two accounts and the lack of other contributions, it seemed like they were probably not actually working on an article. But sorry for not making my reason for tagging them as U5 clearer, and I see what you mean about them potentially being an attempt to draft an article - I wasn't sure whether there was some other way to flag the fact that there were pages across two related accounts given that it didn't seem serious enough for SPI. Thanks for checking and for letting me know! MCE89 (talk) 04:47, 11 January 2025 (UTC)
