Knulclunk

[edit]

Thanks for the Knulclunk page so quickly. Actually, that was my (knulclunk's) edit, from a non-logged in machine. I wanted to see how a {{subst:uw-vandalism1|PageName}} message would show up on an IP machine. You know, when we warn vandals, if they don't have an account, do they ever SEE our warnings? or are the warnings just for other editors to see the history of an IP editor's behavior? Could you throw another message at this IP's talk page? I'd like to see if a message pops up here. Thanks! --66.108.187.164 01:48, 19 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Quilt

[edit]

Congrats on completing your 3rd quilt! Since your page is a regular target for vandals, I'll make you a request on the Anit-VandalBot requests page (with your consent, of course). Off to whack a vandal, ~ Magnus animum (aka Steptrip) 19:33, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

In that case, I'll make a request for both. I noticed you changed your signature ... how do you like my new one (I had my account renamed from Steptrip to Magnus animum)? ~ Magnus animum (aka Steptrip) 21:40, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks, I've made the request, however, it may take a while to be approved (unless I annoy the bot's operators into fulfilling some of the requests). ~ Magnus animum (aka Steptrip) 21:46, 20 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Kamope,

I have understood that you are active on the wiki trying to maintain the quality of the wiki - an admirative occupation. Being not so skilled in "wikipedia" culture and social system, I was wondering if you could help out either fixing or removing the article about FON. As it currently stands I think it would fit the "speedy deletion" requirements.

How do you do it?!

[edit]

How do you make your user page say if you are online or not I have been trying to get mine to do that for ages!! leave me a message. Cheers Kinglou135 22:38, 23 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

He was blaming me for vandalism which i didnt do

[edit]

he reverted my edit saying that i imposed vandalism!!how am i suppose to respond to that if is not true. I been editing the dominican Articles for months and now he tells me i did vandalism!great Job Buddy!EdwinCasadoBaez 01:29, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Dont think You understand

[edit]

Um the reason they said i wrote vandalism is because i wrote information in the article after someone else vandalized it. This made me seem as the one that vandalize! If You see in My Contribution page you'll see that i never been acussed by vandalism before and now some annoymous IP adress comes up and reverts my edits accusing me of vandalism!for this reason i reacted negatively towards this IP address. Is not fair when you get blamed for others and especially when you know a lot of the topic and you do a long edit and then they revert it to the last one. That sort of gets me Pissed off and i hoped it doesn't happen again. I'm about to ask for Semi-Protection of the Article Dominican Republic to avoid Anonymous IP's to edit!sorry if anybody got offended by my comments!EdwinCasadoBaez 02:26, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

EdwinCasadoBaez

[edit]

I reverted your deletion of comments made be EdwinCasadoBaez. I'd like to show the extreme behavior and irrational thinking that seems to becoming as a result of objective material that is being placed in the article. From the removal of words like [[mulatto] because it is now considered to be in the same league as negro and oriental, to the use of listings of abuses that occurred and were documented in the dominican republic by [[amnesty international] [2]. To research from the CCNY Dominican Institute stating that the population is 90% of african ancestry. I have been met with replies such as "Stop trying to portray the whole of DR as if it were Zambia or Gabon, because it isn't. Is not that it is " bad " to be dark skin African, but that is just the fact." "" Mulatto", wether is considered " offensive" , that is subjective. Stop imposing North American " political correctness". "So stop this " all the America's is Kinta Kunte syndrome". Study some history before." [3] . All in all maintaining a constructive and neutral article is what is being attempted. It seems as if several highly patriotic members feel as if many things is an attack on them or their culture, when it's actually being neutal. 64.131.205.111 03:57, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm not sure that I agree that a warning needed to be left for this user. I certainly don't agree with labeling their edit as vandalism. One of the top stories on fark.com is about this news report, which links directly to the Emo (slang) page. It shouldn't be too difficult to AGF and think that this new user simply was trying to warn people that higher than average vandalism is likely on the way. --OnoremDil 11:52, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, I should of thought that the new user might of been warning people that heavy vandalism is likely on the way. I'll go apoligize at User talk:71.63.189.130 and show him/her how to do it. Clyde (a.k.a Mystytopia) 11:59, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for leaving a new message. It did look kind of like a nonsense edit. I might have reacted the same way, but I had noticed the story on Fark and I was planning on watching the article a little more closely than usual this morning. Looks like you're racking up the reverts this morning, so I'll leave you alone now to continue the good work. Thanks again. --OnoremDil 12:12, 23 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • Please do as you see fit. There are two very obvious "hissy fits" going on here and POINTy behaviour on all sides. Note that anon editors do not own their talkpage space as IP addresses tend to be pooled - Alison 11:58, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
    • Excuse me for for thinking that branding other users vandals when they disagree with you is somehow unacceptable behaviour ... 81.104.175.145 11:59, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
      • It's not acceptable. However, reverting the talk page comments 1) annoy the guy 2) make it look like you've something to hide. That editor also reported you to AIV, which I considered highly unfair and it has now rightly been removed. However, you need to leave that trail of messages so other editors can review what just happened and judge accordingly. If you've been blanking messages (esp. without comment) it looks bad. - Alison 12:04, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

vandalism to your page

[edit]

I have removed one instance of vandalism to your user talk page--you can see it in the edit history. The user sending it has just been blocked for this and other infractions. DGG 13:34, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What about XLR8TION's personal attacks against others?

[edit]

Thank you for your concern in reference to your message about my alleged personal attack against XLR8TION in the talk page of the Co-Op City article, but I wonder if you sent the same warning to XLR8TION when he insulted other users who made edits to that article which he didn't agree with? All I ask is that you be fair and even handed in issuing warnings against Wikipedians for personal attacks. Thank you! 68.174.26.32 12:10, 18 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Changes

[edit]

Hi

I made an edit to an article about uk tv presenter Anthony Crank, stating that he was a supporter of Gay Rights and Gay Charities and you removed it saying that is wasn't appropriate or the like, can you tell me why? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 217.10.159.2 (talk)

Thanks for telling me, I'll revert it now. ≈ Mystytopia 12:21, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very sorry

Sorry this is a school computor and it looks like somone at the school has been mucking around with the computors, if it happens again block them.--193.133.128.204 12:30, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I'm not an administrator, so I can't block people. However if the vandalism from your school continues, your school will become blocked. ≈ Mystytopia 12:33, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From Brian Hickey, User:A - Re blocking of my User:A page.

[edit]

Dear, Mystytopia,

About three hours ago I went to my User:A page and found that it had been blocked
on 2007 June 18 ar 2335pm.
I have another user page, User:Brian Hickey

For the last three hours I have been persuing WP pages related to blocking and cannot
find any reason why I would have been blocked.

I have been Wikipedia editing for about the last month.
Over that time I have created my first two articles and edited about 12 pages largely
for the purpose of creating internal links to the two pages I have created.

That is all I have ever had to do with WP apart from avidly reading it.

I hope you can tell me more about the situation.

Best wishes to you.

Brian Hickey.--Brian Hickey 12:44, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User:A was blocked back in May 2006 (see A's block log). I don't know exactly why A was blocked though, however if you look at the block log, User:A's blocked indefinitely. The blocking administrator, Naconkantari (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · page moves · rights · RfA) commented "please contact an administrator for verification, as described on this page". If you want to find out why exactly A was blocked, you should leave Naconkantari a message on his talk page. ≈ Mystytopia 19:54, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet on Krypto

[edit]

Well I just caught another one and added it to the existing case you created, just wanted to give you heads up. Wildthing61476 21:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Blocking of User:A page.

[edit]

Thank you very much for your prompt attention to my problem.
Until I received your reply to my message, for hours, I was absolutely lost as to how to get my User:A page unblocked.
You inform me that my User:A page was blocked in May.
This is the first time I know about that.
Although coming from someone who at this point in time, is very ignorant about all this stuff, maybe the page was blocked then unblocked between times I was visiting the page.
I will now send a message to Naconkantari.
Thanks again. Brian Hickey--Brian Hickey 00:39, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A page cannot be blocked, only users can be blocked and A got blocked, and never unblocked. ≈ Mystytopia 00:50, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User:A page unblocked. Thanks for your help.

[edit]

After my second message to you, I went thru WP pages on blocking and came across something about testing blocks by using the Sandbox.
I then went to my User:A edit page which displayed a sentence saying User:A page was blocked.
I wrote a few words over this entry, clicked save and up came User:A page. I expected to find the horrible big red round icon in a rectangular box. BUT IT WAS GONE.
I gather the page had been vandalised causing you, Mystytopia, and Naconkantari, apart from myself, to have wasted time on the matter.
Sorry for not solving it myself. I am on a steep learning curve with WP.
I am becoming more dedicated to WP. I know you and your associates are very dedicated.
If I can help in any way in the matter, contact me.
Best wishes,--Brian Hickey 02:06, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but according to this, A was never unblocked, and only administrators can block and unblock people. ≈ Mystytopia 10:58, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

User talk:65.94.158.185- thanks for all your help there! (You should really consider adminship soon... like really soon... unless you don't want to, of course). Cheers- CattleGirl talk 11:28, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Wait a minute your not an admin, are you sure? I'm sure I've see you do some admin actions, if you want someone to nom you I'm more than happy to. --Lwarf Talk! 12:31, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not an administator. Did you think I was using the admin rollback when reverting vandalism? The edit summary of the script I use is very simalar and has a rollback button, except the edit summary that the script rollback button gives doesn't have "(talk)" in it, it just has a link to the users contributions. ≈ Mystytopia 20:22, 22 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't know what made me think your an admin (i think I got the impresion when I was fairly new and it just stuck with me), do you wan't to be an admin? --Lwarf Talk! 03:44, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not right now, but maybe in the future. Cheers, Mystytopia 11:37, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for dealing with these users for me. Apparently, I suspect them to be sockpuppets of Charlie.somerville, due to their contribution patterns, and I've made a case about him that you might be interested in. Again, thanks. :) --AAA! (AAAA) 03:23, 23 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure I did the right thing there. Your thoughts? --Kukini hablame aqui 00:24, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think blanking the userpage was the right thing, since it was a redirect to an article. However, if User:LKDS had actually created a userpage, with info, ect., then blanking it would be the wrong thing. Cheers, Mystytopia 00:32, 27 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
