User talk:Laughingtam
{{helpme}} I created a subpage called Laughology and it isn't showing up as an article. How do I make my page go live? Does it take a few days? Also, I would like to upload some pictures that are owned by the company I work for but not specifically owned by me (I have the company's verbal permission to use them)... How do I deal with licenses in this case? thank you
I'll take a look, give me a sec.I've moved the article to Laughology. I am not positive if it will survive CSD, I think it will though. It needs to be wikified as well, check out Wikipedia:MOVIES for some standards and guidelines to help you. I readded the {{helpme}} tag since I cannot answer your other questions.--TParis00ap (talk) 17:59, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
If you create a page called "User:Laughingtam/something" it is in your user space, and not live. You can develop articles there without any problems, and get help, etc. If, however, you create an article just called "something", it is live, and instantly subject to all the requirements - notability, good references, etc.
Articles can be moved to the main area, but you do not yet have the 'move' option, because your account is so new. It must be 4 days old and you have to make 10 edits before you can move pages.
There are some problems with the article; I'm not sure if it meets the general notability guidelines, and also it contains some non-neutral phrasing, such as "groundbreaking 2009 documentary". We have to write with a neutral point of view.
Also, it has external links within the body of the article, and this is not permitted; links should only be used either as references, or in a section called external links.
If the notability is OK, the rest can be sorted out easily enough.
Don't take this criticism too harshly; we are all trying to make better articles. I will probably edit it a bit myself and try to improve some things.
Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia; I hope you'll stay and get more involved. For more help, you can either;
- Leave a message on my own talk page;
OR
- Use a {{helpme}} - please create a new section at the end of your own talk page, put {{helpme}}, and ask your question - remember to 'sign' your name by putting ~~~~ at the end;
OR
- Talk to us live, with this or this.
