Not in twinkle

[edit]

No idea why the pronoun warning templates are not include in the Twinkle drop-down but you can manually add that warning as needed. Sariel Xilo (talk) 19:37, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! And thank you for adding a signature to the end of the template I posted. I'm used to my signature being added automatically, and I'm still generally getting the hang of using twinkle after adding it yesterday. I'll need to remember to use the tildes when I use twinkle.
And thank you for all the work on Erika Ishii, hopefully the vandalism stops soon and/or the page gets protected. LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:19, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I hadn't even noticed the dropdown until you pointed it out. That's a lot easier than what I did lmao LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:25, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Francis Carpenter

[edit]

Hi, I apologize for editing your content I just want to clarify the area. I could not find any reference to where: "Following Lincoln's assassination, Carpenter produced "many" portraits of Lincoln and his family." Only the portrait on Lincoln's wife. (where are records of those paintings?) they must be extremely rare.

I could not find any reference to your quote: "One admirer of Carpenter's early work even wondered if a later portrait of Lincoln was a forgery." Also my question would be why say that. Everyone has their own opinion about art.

The paragraph that I wrote was from an evaluation of an original portrait of Abraham Lincoln's painted by Francis Carpenter in 1864. It was appraised by a prominent auction house Guernseys in NYC and an historian. They both evaluated it as being an original historical piece of art. I entered a paragraph in ChatGPT to correct the grammar, which is not my strong point. That was the paragraph that was constructed by ChatGPT. That's why I add that at the end. I would like to work with you to make this area accurate and positive to Honor the legacy of Francis Carpenter. Best regards Mark (Rowlz) Rowley Rowlz (talk) 17:05, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Rowlz, I don't know anything about Francis Bicknell Carpenter, I just came across your edit while looking through recent changes. I saw that you cited ChatGPT as a source, which is why I reverted your edits to the previous version from August. If you just used ChatGPT to proofread your edit, then there's no need to note that within the article, but it cannot be used as a source for where you find information on a subject.
It seems that you're knowledgable and passionate about the subject, and I think that would be helpful in improving the article. However, information on Wikipedia should be properly cited using reliable secondary sources. For your future edits, I think it would be helpful for you to take a look through WP:CITE and WP:RS
Thanks for following up, and I hope you enjoy editing on Wikipedia :) LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:16, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also I agree that the previous revision is also lacking sources, so that section in general needs fixing. But as I stated, I don't know anything about the subject, so I will leave that to you or other knowledgable editors. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:20, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the feedback. Yes I've been deeply involved in President Lincoln and the art work at the White House at that time period and I will write a proper historic paragraph. I subscribed to you and look forward to reading your articles. Thank you for your kind message. Have a nice day. Rowlz (talk) 17:58, 1 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Blumhouse

[edit]

It's a quote from this video. (Sorry I don't have a timestamp.) I wish they'd just edit imdb instead.—Ineffablebookkeeper (talk) ({{ping}} me!) 16:30, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Figured it was some channel like that, was punching the quote into google and getting no results. Thanks. LaffyTaffer (talk) 16:31, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
33:50 in case that time stamp is needed at some point. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:36, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oh they're (pretending not to be) encouraging people to vandalize wikipedia pages with that quote, that explains why it's happening so aggressively. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:38, 23 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Philip orsino

He passed away 2806:109F:1:A08F:99A:9E8F:DA55:6084 (talk) 03:50, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Please look through WP:BLP, you must cite a reliable source when adding that information to Orsino's article. This applies to anyone born in the last 115 years per WP:BDP LaffyTaffer (talk) 14:13, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
https://www.legacy.com/ca/obituaries/theglobeandmail/name/philip-orsino-obituary?id=56615824
also on linkedin his family posted info on death 189.158.98.136 (talk) 17:52, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
From a cursory search, I think that may be a good enough source for his death (make sure it's included as a citation if you make that edit). However, I'm far from an expert on what sources are reliable or not, so don't take my word as gospel if another editor reverts it. LaffyTaffer (talk) 17:58, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
To be clear, I think the legacy.com link may be reliable. For his linkedin, you'll need to refer to WP:LINKEDIN LaffyTaffer (talk) 18:29, 28 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Ad Orientem if you're revdel-ing all of the IP's vulgar comments, I think this edit would also need to be struck. Though I think the attack is funny enough that I'd like to keep the censored version here if that's alright. LaffyTaffer (talk) 23:48, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you ❤️ LaffyTaffer (talk) 23:57, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My modification reverted

[edit]

Hello @LaffyTaffer, you removed the image that I added, why? Does it correspond to the content of the article and the passage where it was placed? SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 19:34, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You re-added content that was already reverted by NegativeMP1 with the reasoning Definitely does not meet WP:NFCC with (as far as I can tell) no effort to address that concern, which is itself a violation of WP:BRD. At this point it's beginning to veer into the realm of vandalism. LaffyTaffer (talk) 19:39, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@LaffyTaffer It was not my goal to vandalize, sorry that you think that. In fact I had contacted the person who removed it but since they did not answer me at that time I put it back but in another paragraph believing that it was just badly located. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 19:58, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Considering NegativeMP1 has now responded on their talk page, and for the sake of not splitting the conversation in multiple directions, I will let them continue this discussion.
For future reference however, not getting a response within a couple hours is not a valid justification to re-add your content, especially without any explanation in the edit summary. Things move slowly on wikipedia, it would be reasonable to wait at least a day to give the editor in question reasonable time to respond before reintroducing the edit. But even still, you should include an explanation in your edit summary addressing the concerns of whoever reverts your edit. LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay, understood, thank you. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 20:14, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Incredibly Helpful

[edit]

@LaffyTaffer, I just wanted to put this here for all to see - the feedback and edits that followed from you on my current project were/are incredibly helpful. I am looking forward to completing a detailed and well cited article. I am very thankful for the time you have spent reviewing the content that is present to make sure it is up to standard, and am quite pleased you came across the work in progress before my inexperience damaged the page beyond repair. I think far too often people do not take the time to pass on appreciation, as life is busy and it's easier to just get on with the next thing on your "To do" list. Anyway - that was a long way around a short circle to say "Thank you". I hope you have a wonderful rest of your day. (I will resume my edits after my drive home). Jennifer.Bloomfield (talk) 21:45, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It's my pleasure, and I'm happy that we were able to turn this into something constructive. As you may have picked up, I mostly clean up unconstructive edits and occasionally draw the ire of said editors. So working with you to improve Greg Slavonic has been a much welcome change, and I'm learning quite a bit about some ins and outs of wikipedia that I hadn't been aware of before.
I get the feeling that the page may need to get moved back to draft space, but that's a conversation for that talk page that I'll get to later on. LaffyTaffer (talk) 23:13, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Trout-ing myself for edit warring at Kanguva. I've been here for months and ought to know better. Taking it off my watchlist and walking away to let the IPs settle down until another editor cleans the page up. LaffyTaffer (talk) 03:40, 15 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Judge JAV Official Picture

[edit]

Hello! Please change the photo back to Judge Vargas's official court headshot. Thank you! Articleiiifan (talk) 19:52, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

The image is very obviously not your own work as you claim it is. If the image is truly free to use on Wikipedia, please update its information to reflect it's actual source. I would nominate it for speedy deletion myself, but the procedure for things at commons is alien to me. LaffyTaffer (talk) 20:15, 3 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

You got rid of that vandalism before I had a chance to read it! It's good to see efficient RC patrollers out there. Thank you Cmrc23 ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ 19:42, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I've made so many edits just in the last hour that I genuinely have no clue which page you're referring to hahaha. Happy to help out, I enjoy making sure Wikipedia is as vandalism free as I can make it, even if it means being the fun police sometimes. LaffyTaffer (talk) 19:45, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was specifically referring to Daniel Chapo, but I will wish you luck on all future endeavors! Cmrc23 ʕ•ᴥ•ʔ 19:46, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, yeah, that page has been getting a lot of disruptive edits as of late, presumably thanks to the election. I've found that BLP articles on subjects from Africa or South Asia tend to get overlooked a lot by experienced editors, and consequently end up being a mess(either from vandals or well meaning folks who don't understand policy or the MOS). So those tend to be articles that need a lot of clean up. LaffyTaffer (talk) 19:49, 17 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wolf Mankowitz

[edit]

Why did you change the information that I added ... I'm his son, and what I added was factual, and what I subtracted was unnecessary! Wolfman Archive (talk) 18:05, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I see you're already aware that we have guidelines regarding conflicts of interest, I'd strongly encourage re-reading this section if you haven't already. The primary reason I reverted your changes was due to the removal of sourced content. If you feel that content shouldn't be there, you should discuss that on the article's talk page(making sure to disclose your conflict of interest. LaffyTaffer (talk) 18:30, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
What sourced content did I remove? Wolfman Archive (talk) 18:59, 23 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
