Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Beverly Hills Cop II into Beverly Hills Cop II (soundtrack). While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from page name; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted copied template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa (talk) 13:25, 4 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi L to the K. When you WP:SPLIT or WP:MERGE content from one article like Poetic Justice (film) to one like Poetic Justice (soundtrack) for whatever reason, please check to make sure that you're not also moving any non-free files which were being used in the original article. All non-free files are required to have separate specific non-free use rationales for each use; so, when you move files like you did, then the rationale also needs to be correspondingly changed to avoid problems like this. I caught this and re-added the file to the infobox, but non-free files which aren't being used in any articles can be speedily deleted per WP:F5 after five days. -- Marchjuly (talk) 00:37, 7 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Formatting on album articles you create

[edit]

Hi. Several things about album articles you've been making since becoming a registered user: please stop using small text in infoboxes per MOS:SMALLTEXT. This makes it harder to read when the text size in the infobox is already decreased from the normal size. Please also stop using hlists to list producers per Template:Infobox album. We should list each separate person or item in the infobox with a bullet point. Also, per Template:Infobox album#type, you do not need to type Studio album or Mixtape with brackets for the type. Please use "studio" or "mixtape", depending on what it is. You should also be tagging your articles with a template stub like Template:2020s-hiphop-album-stub, and maybe look into uploading an album cover once in a while. It's a rather straight-forward process. Thanks. Ss112 12:53, 28 March 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image File:Innocent Country Season Two.jpg

[edit]
⚠

Thanks for uploading File:Innocent Country Season Two.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in section F5 of the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --B-bot (talk) 18:19, 7 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Livin' Life as Lumberjacks, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page One Monkey Don't Stop No Show (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Unspecified source/license for File:Innocent Country Season Two.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Innocent Country Season Two.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. Even if you created the image yourself, you still need to release it so Wikipedia can use it. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time after the next seven days. If you made this image yourself, you can use copyright tags like PD-self (to release all rights), cc-by-sa-4.0 (to require that you be credited), or any tag here - just go to the image, click edit, and add one of those. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by MifterBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. NOTE: Once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. --MifterBot (TalkContribsOwner) 00:45, 26 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Per the discussion at http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Albums/Archive_46#Piero_Scaruffi_-_Final_Verdict_on_using_him_as_a_source_in_reviews there's a very clear consensus here that Scaruffi is not to be used as a source in music/album articles in any capacity. So please, do not add his opinions anymore. It is a wp:self published source. Since this is a long running dispute, any contributor warned by the situation and who doesn't respect it, would encounter sanctions and could be blocked from editing. Thanks. You've been informed because you used this source here. Woovee (talk) 22:53, 7 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Just to point out that the reason this was a redirected article is because it was for a completely different album of the same name which wasn't notable. A tag has been placed on Category:Albums produced by Hitmaka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add NoACEMM to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 03:03, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Couple of style probs

[edit]

Can you stop listing executive producers in the infobox? See WP:NOEXEC.

And can you stop adding small font tags to the infobox? See MOS:SMALLFONT.

Extra points if you go back and fix your past work. Binksternet (talk) 06:51, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Two years later and you're still not paying attention to the style guides. Stop violating MOS:SMALLFONT and WP:NOEXEC.
Another problem I saw was that you added unsupported samples to an album. Binksternet (talk) 18:48, 4 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Correct usage of certification Table Bottom

[edit]

Hi L to the K. I've noticed that you were creating and adding material to certifications tables, like you did here and here. Please note that the footnotes called for in the table should match the footnotes at the bottom. This is done by using certification Table Bottom correctly, as I did here and here. I'd be happy to assist if you have any questions. As always, you work is greatly appreciated. Happy editing. --Muhandes (talk) 10:53, 5 February 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Ways to improve Damizza Presents Where I Wanna Be

[edit]

Hello, L to the K,

Thank you for creating Damizza Presents Where I Wanna Be.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article does not have enough references to meet the requirements of WP:NMUSIC. What is needed is reviews, articles, interviews like so: published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or group themselves. This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries. This is what you need to look for, if you wish this article to survive any proposal for deletion.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with Whiteguru. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Your album articles

[edit]

Hi L to the K, I hope you're well. First off, thank your for all the hard work you do on here - I've seen your regular edits to album articles. However, I've noticed that some of the album articles you create do not quite meet the requirements set out at WP:NALBUM. Per that guideline, album articles should have more than just an intro and track listing, even if they are notable: "Album articles with little more than a track listing may be more appropriately merged into the artist's main article or discography article". Please try and add more content in prose form to articles you create in future, as those you've created tend to not have much content, aside from a lead-in paragraph, ratings, track listing. Otherwise you risk your articles of being deleted or redirected. I was very tempted to redirect Dr. Ev4l, but I don't want your hard work to go to waste, so please kindly keep the above in mind. See WP:ALBUMSTYLE for additional info. Also, please do not add genres without a reliable source, as this violates WP:V and WP:OR. Kind regards, take care. Good start. IMO an edge case regarding wp:notability. The wording is misleading. The Grammy website says he has won zero awards and was nominated for 6. The article says he has won multiple Grammy awards. If a work that he contributed to won an award, it is not correct to say the he won that award. Happy editing!

The Source magazine ratings

[edit]

Hey! I hope you're doing well. I noticed in your recent edits you replaced Rating for The Source magazine with a numerical rating, so I figured I should explain why it's wrong (usually). Some publications, such as Pitchfork, NME, and late 90s Spin, used numerical ratings (they gave albums a score as a number). Other publications used different score systems, such as star-based system (supposedly popularized by Rolling Stone). We present the score with Rating in that case. When The Source started giving ratings to albums in the summer 1990 issue, they used a numerical system. However, by September of the same year (don't have the August issue to check), they switched to an image rating system. First it was exploding records and then the famous mics. Edit: Just noticed that September 1990–February 1992 reviews technically include both images of exploding records and numbers; however, in March 1992 they switched to mics and stopped using numerical scores. We can't use their mic icon due to copyright (plus it would look awful when it's so tiny), so the default stars are the next best option. However, considering the fact that after the September 1990 March 1992 issue they never used numbers, presenting the score as numerical is incorrect. I hope that clears it up.
