As you seem to be interested in Australia-related articles, yo umight also be interested in the Wikipedia:Australian Wikipedians' notice board. It's also good to see another person writing about Hopf algebras! JPD (talk) 17:25, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Not kidding at all, although I've only really touched one Hopf algebra on Wikipedia. I was really surprised when I looked at your contributions! JPD (talk) 17:52, 13 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lyttleton

[edit]

Thanks for the compliment -- it's not my pic though. I was looking at the recent image uploads from FlickrLickr (which imports appropriately-licensed photos from Flickr into commons), and noticed that one going by, so I added it. I may have a couple pictures I took from the summit of the Christchurch Gondola looking inwards, but I don't remember if any showed Lyttelton itself. I'll look later this week when I get back home. I did add Image:BanksPeninsulaModel.jpg to a couple of articles; maybe it would help the Lyttelton article too. Carl Lindberg 05:14, 15 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I guess the point Blnguyen was making was that calling the quasi-Hopf algebras "Hopf algebras" is slightly questionable. Mathematically it's wrong, but in general speech it sort of makes sense. They definitely belong in the related concepts section, though. Then you have the question of whether the WP category structure is meant to be correspond to "X is a Y", which there is some dispute about. It all really depends how broadly you interpret the category structure, but I do agree that you'd have to interpret it quite broadly indeed to include bi-algebras and co-algeabras. Perhaps they should be put directly in Category:Abstract Algebra instead, and possibly Augmentation ideal as well. Then again, perhaps we should talk to User:Charles Matthews, who seems to be the one that put them in that category to start with. JPD (talk) 10:53, 19 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, LW77. I made a comment on this on JPD's talk page - perhaps you'd like to respond too? QuantumGroupie 19:06, 2 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Australian honours

[edit]

Hi LW77, Australian Honours System is probably the most relevant place and I see you've already done a fair bit of work there. I have no expertise in that area by the way. Did you a specific question? If so, WP:AWNB is very well attended and someone there should be able to point you in the right direction. As far as projects go, no, I don't believe that there is one and surprisingly, I cannot see any projects across Wikpedia at all that deal with honours specifically. If you want to see if there's any interest you could post a note at Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects I suppose. Good luck and feel free to ask if you have any questions. — Moondyne 12:01, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Crikey!, I see that I created Australian Honours System, way back in November 2003. I'd completely forgotten about that. — Moondyne 12:04, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wow, congratulations. A friend of mine got one also and I was going to ask him next time I saw him if I could take a photo of it for the article. Would you mind? I think a project would be interesting and I'd be hapy to be involved, its just that I've got a bit too much on the go already at the moment. How about I post a note as per the above to see if anyone else is interested? -- — Moondyne 13:04, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry, I didn't answer your first question: No I didn't win one. — Moondyne 13:07, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I posted a note at Wikipedia:WikiProject/List_of_proposed_projects#Australian_and_Commonwealth_honours. Seeing you sucked me into this, you better add your username! — Moondyne 13:42, 9 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, judging the the overwhelming response, and that the issue is falls under the auspices of Wikipedia:WikiProject Numismatics and/or Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia, I'm going to remove the notice. That of course doesn't mean that the project is not worth setting up if you wish to do so - that notice is not asking for permission, its simply a tool to advertise for interested parties to be involved. Unfortunately, I have a lot on my plate at this time and would prefer not to be involved in another project, particularly one that will need a fair bit of work in its infancy. Cheers — Moondyne 03:51, 20 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free image (Image:Australian defence medal fr.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Australian defence medal fr.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Unspecified source for Image:Rib-vlsm.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Rib-vlsm.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 15:19, 11 October 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Videmus Omnia Talk 15:19, 11 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Doughty Shield, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://www.qru.com.au/qru/qru.rugby/page/62647. This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:GSM1918Ribbon.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:GSM1918Ribbon.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 01:16, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Tawy frog mouth owl.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Tawy frog mouth owl.jpg is a duplicate of an already existing article, category or image.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Image:Tawy frog mouth owl.jpg, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Off of the order of aus mal.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
