Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, articles should not be moved, as you did to Julian Castro, without good reason. They should have a name that is both accurate and intuitive. Wikipedia has some guidelines in place to help with this. Generally, a page should only be moved to a new title if the current name doesn't follow these guidelines. Also, if a page move is being discussed, consensus needs to be reached before anybody moves the page. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. – Muboshgu (talk) 02:27, 25 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, I'm CaptainEek. I noticed that in this edit to 1968 United States presidential election, you removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Captain Eek Edits Ho Cap'n! 22:29, 3 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add or significantly change content without citing verifiable and reliable sources, as you did with this edit to Tim Ryan (politician). Before making any potentially controversial edits, it is recommended that you discuss them first on the article's talk page. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 01:56, 7 March 2019 (UTC)[reply]

An article you recently created, 2022 Wisconsin gubernatorial election, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Non-free content use

[edit]

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia. We always appreciate when users upload files. However, it appears that one or more of the files you have uploaded or added to a page, specifically 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries, may fail our non-free policy. Most often, this involves editors uploading or using a copyrighted file of a living person. For other possible reasons, please read up on our Non-free criteria. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. -- Marchjuly (talk) 06:27, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LD1998. Not every file you see used on Wikipedia has the same copyright license the same way. Some file's are licensed as free or public domain, whereas others are licensed as non-free content. The use of non-free content is highly restricted on Wikipedia, and each use of a non-free file must satisfy Wikipedia's non-free content use policy. File:Ojeda 2020.png is a non-free file and its non-free use in 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries does not satisfy relevant Wikipedia policy in that article; that is why (as explained in this edit summary) it was removed from the article. The file's removal has nothing to do with the use of File:Eric Swalwell 2020 presidential campaign logo.svg or any other file in the article. The Swallwell file is licensed as public domain as well; so, it's use in articles is not subject to the same policies and guidelines as the Ojeda file or any other non-free file.
Your continued re-adding of the Ojeda file is contrary to established Wikipedia policy and guidelines on the use of copyrighted content and needs to stop. You're also going to find yourself having other problems as well if you continue to revert because it's likely going to be seen as edit warring, but maybe also as a violation of Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Discretionary sanctions. If you've got any questions about the copyright issues related to the Ojeda file's use, feel free to ask about them at WP:MCQ, but you should stop re-adding that file until those issues are properly addressed. -- Marchjuly (talk) 21:05, 10 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Please discuss your disputes

[edit]

Hello, LD1998,

I saw your recent edit that has quite a heated edit summary. Please know that edit summaries should be used to explain your edit, not to enter into conversations with other editors. The proper place to discuss controversial edits is on the article talk page.

If you find yourself at odds with another editor, do not vent in edit summaries, you should start a discussion on the article talk page. This will help you because it will draw other editors into the conversation. This always helps editors come to a better sense of consensus on what the article should contain. Three or more editors discussing content is better than a back-and-forth between two editors which can often lead to edit warring. Please make use of talk pages. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 01:21, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hi LD1998. The reason why the Ojeda logo has been removed are explained above at #Non-free content use and at Talk:2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries#Campaign logo images for withdrawn candidates. It has everything to do with the Ojeda file being licensed as non-free content and nothing at all to do with the Swalwell being used or the fact that both candidates have suspended their campaign. The Ojeda file's use in that page doesn't comply with Wikipedia's non-free content use policy and shouldn't be used regardless of the other files being used. If you disagree with this or want further clarification about this, then feel free to ask for help at WP:MCQ.
The Swalwell file is not licensed as non-free content; so, it use is not subject to the same policy guidelines as the Ojeda one. This doesn't mean that the Swallel file should be used in the article, only that it can. I really encourage you to follow Liz's advice and try and use the talk page to address you concerns about the use of the Swalwell logo because the article you're editing is under discretionary sanctions and any further reverts is going to likely lead to you being blocked. Liz is an administrator and she's giving you a fair chance to discuss things; if, however, you continue to revert like you've been doing, she or an another administrator is likely going to block you without any further warning. -- Marchjuly (talk) 01:37, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]
Please bear in mind that 2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries is under a one-revert restriction, and you reverted the addition of Swalwell's logo twice today.[1][2]
Frankly, if you want to be able to influence whether the Swalwell logo is removed, you will get far better results if you engage in the discussion on the talk page than if you keep removing it from the article. —C.Fred (talk) 01:53, 11 July 2019 (UTC)[reply]

American politics discretionary sanction alert template

[edit]

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

An article you recently created, 2023 United States gubernatorial elections, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. –MJLTalk 16:16, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I would refocus the page by moving it to 2023 United States elections. Sources you may like to use: [3] [4][5][6]

If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Thank you for your submission to Wikipedia! UnitedStatesian (talk) 19:12, 22 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Your edits to the 2020 United States Senate election in Michigan have been reverted because the results from the Michigan Secretary of State web site at [7] are STILL UNOFFICIAL. Steelbeard1 (talk) 20:34, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello. I have noticed that you often edit without using an edit summary. Please do your best to always fill in the summary field. This helps your fellow editors use their time more productively, rather than spending it unnecessarily scrutinizing and verifying your work. Even a short summary is better than no summary, and summaries are particularly important for large, complex, or potentially controversial edits. Thanks! ― Tartan357 Talk 11:45, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to 2020 United States Senate election in Louisiana, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Please start using edit summaries. You removed Edwards from the infobox without providing any justification, despite him getting 11% of the vote. ― Tartan357 Talk 11:48, 30 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

American politics discretionary sanctions alert

DDR 2013 and 2014 soundtracks moving to DDR A and A20 soundtrack page

[edit]

Hi LD1998. I think I may have seen you outside of Wikipedia. Anyway, for a few years, I suggested on the article talk pages that Music of Dance Dance Revolution A and A20 should encompass everything after DDR X2, including the soundtracks for X3, 2013 and 2014. The reasoning is that DDR A is the first international release since X2, and still the latest in Europe, and thus is more notable than the Asia-only releases. Similarly, the article List of Dance Dance Revolution songs is likely to be overhauled. If you agree or disagree with these changes, please visit the talk pages of these articles. If you simply revert the changes, it will be more difficult to keep track of changes and why they occurred. (For example, you reverted the article changes, but not the talk page changes.) Thank you. --LABcrabs (talk) 16:52, 18 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, I'm Notwally. I noticed that you recently removed content from Pepé Le Pew without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page.
