ZH-template and other options

We have the following options: ZH-template, using "/", and only listing simplified outright. If you wish to use ZH-template heavily, the "|links=no" function should be used, to prevent over-linking. I personally prefer using only simplified, as this avoids all other burdens, namely romanisation and how to include traditional. --HXL's Roundtable, and Record 23:24, 28 January 2011 (UTC)

Popups on IE8 & IE9

Hi, thanks for your debugging at MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-popups.js#Enabling_support_for_IE9! The newest version of the popups gadget should work both on IE8 and IE9; it also now uses the shortmenus layout on these browsers like you suggested. Please let me know if you see any problems. Prefer "your" images

Hi Kxx! I saw you preferred the IAU images in Template:Infobox constellation but I think they don't look good. I prefer using those SVG images that you by some magic generated from the PP3-sources (perhaps via the TeX intermediary?), because they're better adapted to the sizing 250px in Infobox constellation. The IAU images are good for printout for private amateur astronomers, but generally maladapted for Wikipedia usage. Please have your say. Rursus dixit. (^mbork³!) 09:55, 14 July 2011 (UTC)

That would probably be an interesting read. I have retained your reference to the magazine as the penultimate entry under Fires in Edo#Bibliography (and pinpointed the reference to the feature article of the issue, which I hope is correct). On the proofreading. There are several problems in the table. I prefer inclusion of another Japanese name such as 振袖火事　in the line of Great Fire of Meireki, The number of killed is omitted in Fire of Mito-sama and Fire of Horeki, The killeｄ were 2,800 in Great Fires of Bunsei. Of coure, these may be written in Footnotes. The last line of Causes of fires; would remain content as long as their own houses were not the origins of fires. (I prefer). On Hiyokechi and hirokoji, Genroke should be Genroku. On Prohibitions and fire alert orders, In order to the prevent fires may be in order to prevent fires. On Dozo and Angura, what is thujopsis ? On Eccomic impact, when it comes to(?) to shogunate's budget, On Skyrocketing consumer prices, note 9 ? (the prices of sake and oil, on what basis ?) On Financial burden on the shogunate; lost Tenshu Keep of the Edo Castle, the lost Tenshu tower of the Edo Castle ?. About 160,000 taels of silver were spent as bestowments to the choni, whose shares corresponded to the sizes of their residence, (please add) facing the road. In Japanese 間口に応じて、I know that the taxation of chonins was per the length of a shop facing the road. When you visit Japan, you will understand that in old traditional towns a shop has a very small area facing the road, while his shop has unexpectely long area inside and this is because taxation was made per 間口. The size of shō comes from paragraphs 3 and 4 of ja:升#日本における升の歴史. The relevant sentences are quoted below:

古京枡は縦横5寸、深さ2寸5分で、62.5立方寸、容積は1.74リットル、新京升の0.964倍であった。1669年、江戸幕府は、江戸を中心に使われていた江戸枡（古京枡と同じ量）を廃止し、古京枡より少し大きい新京升の採用を命じた。

The information concerning sake and oil prices comes from ja:江戸の火事#cite_note-52.

"On Financial burden on the shogunate; lost Tenshu Keep of the Edo Castle, the lost Tenshu tower of the Edo Castle ?"

According to Merriam-Webster, keep refers to "the strongest and securest part of a medieval castle". Albeit a western term, I suppose it can be loosely used to mean "閣". You can see the same word in the page Tenshu.

Clarified as sizes of facades. I also changed "160,000 taels of silver" to read just "160,000 ryō". I missed that when I changed all other occurrences of "taels of silver" to "ryō".
