Redirect requested
[edit]I feel that Bloggers should also be redirected to wikt:Blogger. Seems logical after the disambiguation page for blogger. Tried to do it myself, but somehow couldn't. Thanks --Sanat 09:06, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
- I think there's not much of a way to have a Wikipedia article actually redirect to something outside of Wikipedia - even a MetaWiki project even. Imagine how it could be abused by vandals! Yeah, it's a very logical suggestion, and I think it's great! But, I lack the MetaWiki know-how to force a redirect =P. Thanks for your work! –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 05:31, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Ristretto Page
[edit]I was adding information to the Ristretto page rather than playing around. I removed what I thought might be controversial to you. My qualifications are as a barista turned home barista and SERBC Judge. The method is referenced in the page's external links and is a common practice. Also, in the future, I'd appreciate an explination in why you removed the edit despite being an anonymous user. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.152.86.209 (talk • contribs)

Hi KM,
I've just added a valid link which you've removed.
The link is www.surfip.gov.sg under "Trademark databases / searches" link section.
SurfIP is a public service provided for free by the Singapore Government, and in comparsion to the current 1st link which goes to 'http://www.kedem-law.co.il/index.files/relatede.htm' where it's a collection of links, rather than a public service for the users, there should be good reason why the SurfIP link is a valid link address "Trademark databases / searches".
For your further verification. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Vision3001 (talk • contribs)

[edit]Sorry about the warning revertion on that user's talk page. How do you prevent that from happening? Usually wiki warns me that someone took care of a vandalized article already. Don Cherry Edits
[edit]RE: http://en.wiki.x.io/w/index.php?title=Don_Cherry_%28hockey%29&diff=prev&oldid=86678741
I disagree with your edit on the Don Cherry page. (You changed some improvements I had made to the page.) The page I had edited had missed the main story of the Don Cherry visit to the Visitors' Gallery of the House of Commons, i.e., the mixed reaction of the Members of Parliament, so I added that aspect to the article.
Perhaps you would like to check this and then reinstate my edit so it would read once more: "On November 7, 2006, after appearing in the Canadian House of Commons' Visitors Gallery, and receiving both wild cheers and raucous boos from the Members of Parliament ...,"
BTW, someone has already partially corrected your edit to include the full quote. Previously the quote was out of context and did not mention the Canadian troops.

[edit]Hey, why the strong delete for Hula Popper? I've heard of this before...it may be a really poorly written article, but seems like its in the vernacular. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.134.227.10 (talk • contribs)
- I've run a simple Google search on the term, and even an urban dictionary (devoted to slang) described it thus. Not exactly what the article says it means, though I'm pretty sure there are some people who do use that term, it's not that widely used. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 07:57, 10 November 2006 (UTC)

Mostly every vandal claims to be "falsely accused." Merely removing the warning (it was only a warning) as you did, is considered in and of itself a violation of Wikipedia policy.
Regarding your vandalism: You deleted someone else's edit because the information "was already mentioned below." Are you familiar with the concept of an introduction paragraph? 68.7.67.96 20:23, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

Your revert
[edit]I'm sorry to say that this revert was not a fair decision.
As far as Polish Real Madrid fansites are concerned, realmadrid.info is the third or maybe event fourth as far as popularity is concerned, whereas RealMadrid.pl is the unquestionable leader.
The link to RealMadrid.pl was deleted here and substituted with a link to rm.info. Since then this change has not been reverted. I don't look at the Real Madrid article too often (I've got no need to :) ), but I do sometimes and since I've noticed that the link to RM.pl has been deleted, I looked up when the change took place and reverted it.
As far as my POV might be concerned, be aware that the 83.x.x.x IPs are IPs of the Polish Neostrada provider, thus that editor was at least as unobjective as me, but my argument is that RealMadrid.pl is the most popular Real Madrid fansite in Poland (ah, one of the most popular football sites in Poland a all), just as realmadridfans or realmadrid.hu are in their countries.
Regards, Sir Wolf of Poland 15:26, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- I sincerely apologize. I have restored the previously added links. Thanks for notifying me of my error! –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 17:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- However, next time consider leaving a note on the talk page detailing the addition of the new external links, especially since the article already has a huge amount. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 17:40, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you. And next time I promise to remember, because I agree that it could look like spamming. Sir Wolf of Poland 17:46, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Hmm, now this is strange. Leuko has deleted all the external links, event though according to WP:EL if there are many fansites for the topic covered by the article, then providing a link to one major fansite (and marking the link as such) may be appropriate. The problem is that no big sports club (at least no big European football/soccer club) has one major fansite - usually there is one per country. And so Poland has RealMadrid.pl, Hungary - realmadrid.hu, Spain - realmadridfans.org, Denmark - realmadrid.dk and so on. I agree that links to blogs (!!) are a bit too much, but since Wikipedia encourages users to add links to most significant fansites, the ones I've mentioned definitely deserve a link.
I'm going to speak about it with Leuko in a moment; if you'd like to add anything, feel welcome ;) Sir Wolf of Poland 18:45, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

- Definitely look at the amount of damage that guy did before you reported him, and his continuation of havoc even after five+ test4 warnings. It was like screaming "Block me!" through and through. Aagh. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 01:40, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Thank you but...
[edit]Thank you but the comment on my talk page was unnecessary. If you had bothered to look at the edit, you would see there is no way they could be called vandalism. I refer you to WP:Vandalism. Specifically the section titled “New User Test,” and “Learning Wiki Markup and Manual of Style.” Under this section a new user can make edits to improve their ability as a wikipedian without it being considered vandalism. If you had bothered to take the time before wasting your time and calling my edit vandalism you would have seen (1) that my edit in no way could be considered vandalism since I reverted it a minute later, and (2) was implementing a wikipedia test image, and (3) the change was a revert of another poster mainly out of curiosity for what was on the page. Next time, try following WP:AGF a bit more closely. Specifically that “we must assume that most people who work on the project are trying to help it, not hurt it.” Not to mention “Newcomers unaware of Wikipedia's unique culture and the mechanics of Wikipedia editing often make mistakes or fail to respect community norms.” Lest we forget “Assuming good faith is about intentions, not actions. Well-meaning people make mistakes, and you should correct them when they do. You should not act like their mistake was deliberate. Correct, but don't scold.” Following the policy will save you, and I time. Don't get me wrong. It is appreciated that you look out for vandalism ... but, seriously, why send a warning when it is a practice image that was unilaterally reverted? Wouldn’t it better aid wikipedia to spend the time editing actual vandalism? I think it would. Thanks. CraigMonroe 22:27, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
- I apologize for any trouble I may have caused you. However, Wikipedia policy also states that "please use the sandbox" for any test you might want to do. I suggest using the sandbox next time to avoid any confusion of intention. Putting random text in an article link is easily viewed as vandalism, even if it's well-intentioned. I also thank you for reverting your own test edit, and I look forward to working with you in the future. –- kungming·2 | (Talk·Contact) 23:04, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Removing warnings
[edit]I noticed that you recently warned a troublesome user for removing warnings from his talk page. Unfortunately, following the recent discussion at WP:AN, consensus is that it is no longer appropriate to warn users for this breach of etiquette. So, can you please clear your cache (hit CTRL-R) and then when you see some vandalism use the RED rollback link. This should rollback the edit but also open the vandals talk page (turn your popup blocker off if it doesnt) and, whats best is there you should see an extra tab at the top next to history and one press and they are warned! (you still get to choose the warning) - see if that works :) Let me know if you like! Glen 09:52, 19 November 2006 (UTC)

Image problem - thank you!
[edit]Hello,
Thank you for sorting out the image for me with reference to my post on the help desk.
The article concerned is http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Thin_film
The image in question is http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Image:Linearschematic.jpg
When you say overwriting tags could be a problem, do you mean that in the future I need to completely delete the old entry and make a new one in order for it to work.
All the images I ever use belong to me, so the licence factor should not be an issue.
Thank you again and I look forward to your comments.
Best wishes, Antony

American -> English spelling conversions
[edit]Heya! I noticed that a couple of edits[2] that have been made to convert American English spellings to UK English spellings. The case I linked there has already been reverted by someone else, but I was wondering whether to make similar reverts if I see other cases.. or should I just leave them alone? Is there any official guidance in the style guides that addresses this? Cheers! guyzero | talk 22:03, 30 November 2006 (UTC)

Collateral Damage due to Block
[edit]
piling pictures on top of others
[edit]Hi Kungming2, This is probably long since outdated, but I just thought I'd let you know that you uploaded a picture over another user's picture back in September 2006. I've noticed that by accident and have uploaded the picture to Commons to make it available to the wider public again. I assume this was just a mishap from your part; just if it wasn't, I'd kindly ask you to respect the work of other users and not upload onto their works. Thanks, Ibn Battuta 04:31, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Apologies, but at that time I felt so as not to duplicate images that had the same subject matter - otherwise, the end result would be an orphaned image notice for the other user as well. Don't worry, it won't happen again. Thanks for the info. –- kungming·2 (Talk) 14:22, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- No need to apologize--as I wrote, I didn't expect this to be still an on-going practice... And yes, you're right of course - before the Commons (and its possibility to categorize images or arrange them on extra pages), such images did really get lost easily. So I guess your upload actually saved this one! :o) --Ibn Battuta 00:00, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

Request Lock on Jin Dynasty (1115-1234) page to prevent vandalism
[edit]From the last discussion and a poll by participating members have decided it is wrong to say the origin of the Jin Dynasty rulers are koreans. However, nationalist koreans have once again added the section that Jin Dynasty rulers are from Korea. This is unreasonable and unethnical. Reading from your contributions i trust that you are a responsible, fair and capable member of wikipedia. I would be greatful if protection can be initiated on the Jin Dynasty page.

Speedy deletion of Betty Brown
[edit]Please do not make statements attacking people or groups of people. Wikipedia has a strict policy against personal attacks. Attack pages and images are not tolerated by Wikipedia and are speedily deleted. Users who continue to create or repost such pages and images in violation of our biographies of living persons policy will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Thank you.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Thanks
[edit]Thanks for not lapsing into sarcasm or mockery in your comment as many of the other contributors to this {{afd}} did.
I've requested userification of this article. The nominator failed to observe the courtesy recommended in the deletion policies of informing the contributor who started the article (me) that the article was being considered for deletion.
I trust your judgment that being a deputy director of personnel is not an important post. You suggested that if he had been deputy director of personnel at Guantanamo it might be a different story. His actual post at Guantanamo was, I believe, more significant than that. He was listed as the "OIC CSRT". A Rear Admiral J.M. McGarrah was the director of the Office for the Administrative Review of Detained Enemy Combatants. "OIC CSRT" would be "Officer In Charge Combatant Status Review Tribunals" -- ie the most senior deputy of this agency.
I think it was a serious mistake on the part of the nominator to fail to advise me that they had nominated the article for deletion. My thanks again for keeping your comments substantive and collegial. Geo Swan (talk) 18:29, 24 February 2010 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Cristin milioti 120913.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Cristin milioti 120913.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [4], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:
- state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
- add the relevant copyright tag.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 13:46, 10 December 2013 (UTC)
