Hello Kragen and welcome to Wikipedia! I'm glad you've chosen to join us. This is a great project with lots of dedicated people, which might seem intimidating at times, but don't let anything discourage you. Be bold!, explore, and contribute. If you want to learn more,
Float around for awhile until you find something that tickles your fancy. One easy way to do this is to hit the random page button in the navigation bar to the left. There are also many great committees and groups that focus on particular jobs. My personal favorite stomping grounds are Wikipedia:Translation into English and Wikipedia:Cleanup for sloppy articles. Finally, the Wikimedia Foundation has several other wiki projects that you might enjoy.
There are a few crucial points to keep in mind when editing. Be civil with users, strive to maintain a neutral point of view, verify your information, and show good etiquette like signing your comments with four tildes like this: ~~~~ If you have any more questions, always feel free to ask me anything on my talk page or ask the true experts at Wikipedia:Help desk. Again, welcome! -- Draeco21:56, 21 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Kragen. You don't have to nominate copyright violations on AfD. You can just mark them as copyright violations and post them on Wikipedia:Copyright problems. First, erase the page's content and enter {{copyvio|url=}}. Then just put in the url of the source after the equal sign. This will produce a template when you save it and you just follow the instructions it gives it. In some cases, the source doesn't have a web page. In that case, put your explanation where the url would go, but use bold around it (made with three apostrophes on both sides). Good work on catching the copyvio. Thanks, Kjkolb07:34, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I wish I could be like you. I was going to say, "I wish I had been like you when I was 18," but then I realized I still haven't done anything comparable to what you've done. You rock. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Kragen (talk • contribs)
Thank you for the kind words to my talk page, its nice to be appreciated. I read your homepage→ interesting. If you need help with any matter, just ask. See you around. Orane(t)(c)(e-mail)17:07, 22 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
They've nominated my article for deletion again. Would appreciate it if you could drop by the page and say something about it. It feels unfair for me to be back here again after the article survived once before. What's to stop people from doing it a third or fourth time? Thanks, Dopefish03:19, 16 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! to do redirects, change the page to #REDIRECT [[destinationpage]], to go to a redirecting (source) page for editing follow the link atop the redirectee, eg (Redirected from source). Skullers (talk) 18:41, 31 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You said it very well. A blank page is likely to get filled, a redirect that shouldn't be there is likely to be left as is. In these situations it is silly to blame us for 'blanking' as if it were vandalism. Tibetologist (talk) 15:56, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Re: edit reversion on "Grange, Douglas, County Cork"
The reason for the revert is that your edit was against the spirit, if not the exact letter, of current Wikipedia content guidelines. An article consisting of nothing but the test "No information" is functionally consistent to a blank article and confusing to a reader who was lead to expect an article with information based upon the blue link followed to reach the article. In short you were replacing a small problem (a marginally appropriate redirect) with a bigger problem (a completely nonfunctional article). --Allen3talk19:27, 18 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You added a "crappy" pronunciation of Ravenna (your word ;-) ) - tell me as I am not all that conversant with the IPA - does that pronunciation allow for a single "n" or a double "n"? Ravenna is pronounced as "ra-VEN-na" because double consonants are split between the two syllables in Italian...thanks!
Well, I stuck a ":" after the "n" to indicate that it's a geminate consonant. I don't have a keybinding for the triangular colon the IPA uses for geminate consonants (the ":" is clear enough, I think) and I'm not sure if there's a special IPA way to indicate that the second part of the geminate "n" belongs to the next syllable. I note that the gemination article uses doubled consonants instead of [:]. I think my crappy transcription is better than having no written pronunciation at all, but it would be nice if someone really expert at phonology were to look at it. SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.
If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from Nettrom (talk), SuggestBot's caretaker.
Dear Wikipedist editor, I want to submit to your attention an our common problem: disruptive contributions and edit warring operated by user Derek farn(talk). This latter shows systematically a provoking behaviour and lacking of respect for other people’s work, typical of vandalism. I’ve sent this communication to many people having the same problem in order to organize a collective protest/action request directed to e.g. the Arbitration Committee or Requests for comment/User conduct (this latter procedure requires the participation of at least two users) or to the Wikipedia Community. If you agree with this initiative please contact me at this dedicated email address:
clipeaster-1971 AT yahoo DOT com.
In order to avoid creating of a forum section dedicated to Derek farn I suggest you to delete this communication once you’ve read it and, then, be in contact via email.
Any suggestion are welcomed. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Structuralgeol (talk) 17:23, 15 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]
As another user pointed out to me that suggesting to be in contact outside wikipedia is not a correct way, for transparency reasons, so I conclude that we need to correspond via talk page. Best regards, Structuralgeol (talk) 02:28, 16 July 2011 (UTC).[reply]
Sure, I would be happy to do an e-mail interview. I don't have access to e-mail during the work day, but I generally check for messages in the mornings and evenings, and I can respond then. My e-mail address is John_Sauter@systemeyescomputerstore.com John Sauter (talk) 12:47, 4 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Navy Petty-Officers School of Mechanics, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sobral (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

See WP:CANVASS. I noticed you selectively notified some editors who will most likely agree with your logic. Please start a new thread at WT:MATH in a neutral way so that all interested editors can participate. Solomon796805:05, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]
For third-party readers, the above is a response to my reversion of your reversion. While it's true that I think that most editors I notified will agree with my logic, that's because I think your behavior — deleting good-faith and worthwhile contributions to articles about unquestionably notable mathematicians and computer scientists, written by other editors over a period of years, while speciously citing irrelevant meta pages to support the deletion — is unacceptable, bordering on vandalism; I wouldn't know how to go about finding editors who would support it! I have at least notified two users who supported the deletion of Erdős number categories in the past and who are still active, but it is true that I also expect them to agree with me.
I think your suggestion of a new thread at WT:MATH is probably a good one, and may do that tomorrow.
As a further comment, though, I see that one person that we both asked for their perspective thinks that what you did isn't unreasonable in this case, so maybe I'm mistaken. Hopefully we'll hear some other voices soon. Kragen Javier Sitaker (talk) 05:53, 4 November 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hello User:Kragen ! I just rewrite entirely the Foonly article, with lot of sources, and delete all "personnal comments" from lot of old Foonly engineer, and all not-encyclopedic contents.
I saw in talk page your comment (dated from 2012).
Did you succeed in interviewing some of these guys ?

Hey, Kragen. Really enjoyed your comment about Bob Kahn. Mistake probably happens a lot these days. There's probably a joke here about Genghis Kahn and his brother Don who keep on, keep on keeping on. But I don't know who Don Kahn was... Cheers.--Jack Upland (talk) 22:27, 26 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
