Internet connection

[edit]

Just a few words of explanation. To let you bear with me.
I have only dial-up connection to the internet and in this country it is rather costly. So I work in a kind of cycle : connect - read - disconnect - answer - connect - send articles and answers. I think this might explain my irregular activity on Wikipedia.

I use HiS and it works great and is very cheap (for a guy spending 10-17 hours on the net :). It can be cheaper if you network with 3-4 friends (my neighbor does this and it works great). The only limitation - HiS does not reach everywhere. -- User:Piotr Wozniak

This is, unfortunately, true in my case. :((
Thanks anyway for your suggestion, Piotr.

Hi there Krzysztof. I too have been thinking about metadata as a way to enhance the Wikipedia. See WikiProject Concepts. --User:Seb

Tomek, pomoz nam przetlumaczyc hasla dla polskiej Wikipedii. Ze stron 'basic topic' 'complete list of encyclopedia articles'. To chyba da sie zrobic automatycznie.

User:Taw

Hello Krzysztof, could you possibly look through chemotherapy, lung cancer and stem cell if you are not busy, although I know what crazy hours GPs, at least in England, get. I did these to try and prepare for my medicine university interviews, but they are likely to contain errors so just give me areas that I have got incorrect and I'll try and re-do them. Thanks -- sodium

Your comments on lung cancer are much appreciated. I'll read up some more on lung cancer and cancer in general to try and address your points. However obviously I can't write from anywhere near a professional perspective, and there is no way that I would be able to gain access to, or understand, medical journals. Not having this kind of understanding, I guess, is a problem if I try to write about medicine-related topics. -- sodium
Don't feel discouraged ! We can work out fine medical articles together, I'm sure. Mind I am not an native English speaker and I'm bold enough to write articles for Wikipedia.
Thanks and beware--I'll still keep trying ;-) -- sodium (In fact you won't have to start really worrying until my exams are over, towards the end of January)

Doskonala i pozyteczna zabawa. Moja specjalnosc to jezykoznawstwo (fonologia, historia jezykow, odmiany angielskiego w czasie i przestrzeni). Pozdrawiam!

Przyjacielu! A propos! Ile lat moze miec ta Niemra, czy to jeszcze przedwojenna? Trzymaj sie! spacecadet123@prodigy.net User:Space Cadet

Hi Krzysztof --

Just wanted to say I'd hold off on the hostkingdom stuff -- I looked at some of it, and it's got a lot of errors. It's not that it's completely wrong -- it's just not right!JHK

I have someting for you on my talk page. --mav

Re Grotnik/Grotniki: Battle of Grotnik is the correct English usage. As I understand it Grotniki is a Polish genitive. Since the genitive is implicit in the English word "of" we would use the objective case which for all practical purposes in English is the same as the nominative. Eclecticology

In this case it is nominative - the location is called Grotniki, which is plural (quite common for Polish locations). AdSR

I don't follow what you meant but whatever. Ive just been working on some page cuz some guy earlier was writing this rant about how anyone that disagrees with Israel was a nazi-so i had to replace it with something. In the end, its probably useful to get discussion of actual groups involved with the conflict onto a seperate page. Lir 13:16 Nov 10, 2002 (UTC)

OK. IMO "Anti-Israel Movements" is implying something general and rather vague. Organizations themselves are : Hamas, Jihad etc and they have their pages. So under heading Organizations I'd list them rather then "Anti-Israeli Movements".

Kpjsa, could you explain a bit on terms for anatomical location what the difference between frontal and sagittal is, if there is any? Thanks, AxelBoldt 03:45 Feb 19, 2003 (UTC)

Why did you return the disclaimer to Chlorpromazine? There are a number of reasons it should not be there - the article is not offering medical advice; piecemeal disclaimers are unsatisfactory - have you added a similar disclaimer to every medical article?; There is a central disclaimer already in place, whether people read it or not. Mav has already "slapped my hand" about putting in individual disclaimers.

Hi Kpjas, you may have noticed that I am heavily rewriting the medicine article. Many entries have been moved to more specific articles to make the medicine thing more readable. It is still somewhat messy, but getting more readable; you might like to look at individual articles, perhaps further additions should go there rather than to the medicine article. Kind regards, Kosebamse 16:39 Apr 12, 2003 (UTC)

Hello Kpjas! Are you aware that your edits are corrupting occurances of the Swedish letter "å" and replacing them with "aa"? This does not only make words unintelligible but also breaks established links to other articles. The most recent example is probably the Swedish Anthem. Earlier examples include Carl Gustaf Mannerheim and Astrid Lindgren. There has been discussion about this on Wikipedia:Village pump. -- Mic 18:08 20 May 2003 (UTC)

Same happened to Wikipedia:Votes for deletion, with a lot of different letters, such as "æ" -> "ae", "à" -> "`a", and things like that. Cyp 16:29 9 Jul 2003 (UTC)

O.K., sorry, I am somewhat new here and still need some help. Please let me know if I have to add the text of the stub above or below the article's text. Thanks.-- The Warlock 07:58 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)

No more problem, just by accident I found the solution in another article. Thanks again.-- The Warlock 08:17 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)

Hi; strange beginning, happy ending, if you thought I got offended; not at all. I always think another person might have more information about those small definitions, as it happened to me with some articles, stubs or not; I think some of us prefer to write a little definition that can help others to know something about the subject than nothing, but it always can be completed. Thanks. P.S: I don't know you, but I am Aquarius :-) The Warlock 08:38 20 Jun 2003 (UTC)

That looks right... Using a different browser? Cyp 17:41 9 Jul 2003 (UTC)
Nope. The same old Lynx. Just copied with it from the User: page here and looks OK.
Kpjas 17:49 9 Jul 2003 (UTC)

We need a clear statement of how multiple language and textbook links work. We really need easy cross-linkings. Please add to cookbook since many new users will read only that page. I think in time we will have to move to "food.wiki.x.io" to support unique features like unit conversion, en:moral purchasing tags, etc. Maybe we should propose doing that right now, to have "pl.food.wiki.x.io" and "en.food.wiki.x.io". Eventually make it "wikook" or something distinctive.

Yes. I see your point. There's no reason for Wikipedia not to have Polish, German or Czech cookbooks. The other thing is whether they should be written from scratch or be translated from the master English language version.
I don't know about the subdomains, though. For me it would be quite acceptable that books will be in the textbook.wiki.x.io. Whether split into podreczniki.wiki.x.io, handbuecher.wiki.x.io is still open for debate.

[edit]

Hello. I see that you removed the notice about possible copyright infringement from the Tanzanite article. Wikipedia:Copyrights is, admittedly, a bit vague on what to do with possible copyright infringements, but what most people do is remove the dodgy text from the article altogether, and replace it with the relevant notice from the Wikipedia:Boilerplate text page. See 1992 Summer Paralympics for an example. -- Oliver P. 22:17 15 Jul 2003 (UTC)

Fonzy

[edit]

Hi Kpjas, Fonzy thinks that you (IP address 213.253.40.183) have startet the article Wikipedia:Wiktionary. Can you confirm (see User_talk:Fonzy/Sysop_request_for_Wikiquote)? Thanks, Fantasy 07:57, 19 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Thanks for the answer. Even if my feelings tell me, that Fonzy can be trusted, I am still not 100% sure...

Thanks for suggesting "medical prescription" instead of "prescription (medical)". I don't have an opinion one way or another; you're welcome to rename the article. Note that Wikipedia at one time was suppose to abbreviate "prescription (medical)" in links to just the word without the parentheses: "prescription (medical)", but I don't think that's working. BTW, I'm not a medical professional so please do edit and correct the prescription article. Samw 03:38, 25 Aug 2003 (UTC)

Sorry I removed your pic from Grasshopper. I tried leaving it there but it looked a bit strange because it's a little blurry, not in close-up and the larger version isn't actually any larger.
If you disagree just revert.

Hi Krzysztof. Please could you have a look at Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/foreign language and see if there is anything that can be done about the Polish entry on there. As you are the Polish ambassador I thought you might want to copy it over to the Polish Wikipedia. If not, can you let me know so it can be deleted. Thanks. Angela 22:52, Sep 21, 2003 (UTC)

Hello Krzysztof: you've noted that the diabetes mellitus is "not up to the standard of scientific knowledge". Can you tell me any areas where you feel that the article is particularly lacking or incorrect, or suggest any corrections? -- Karada 22:42, 23 Sep 2003 (UTC)

Czastka elementarna

[edit]

Krzysztof,

I've found a page, Czastka elementarna that, as best as I can tell, is written in the Polish language. Could you take a look at it and see if it's something to move to the Polish Wikipedia? I'm listing it on Wikipedia:Votes for deletion/foreign language for now.

Thanks, Anthropos 01:49, 5 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hi, I've called a vote at Talk:Silesia to try to resolve disputes there. I'd appreciate your input. Thanks! john 23:01, 7 Dec 2003 (UTC)

I fear you're right. Although I think that really the problem is about one user, Caius2ga. Nico can be abrasive, but he's willing to compromise and discuss things, for the most part. Part of the idea of a vote is to come to some consensus so that if users continue to mess about, we can have some definitive statement that would allow us to prevent it from happening... john 01:39, 8 Dec 2003 (UTC)

You wrote: For me someone who contributes hundreds of articles that are NPOV and factually correct is not a vandal. Caius2ga is in my opinion such user. You can perceive his behaviour as annoying and perhaps disruptive. But I am sure that a compromise is possible. Alienating Polish users (Caius2ga, taw, Szopen, me) won't do any good. I wonder what is the opinion of Jimbo about all this.
Krzysztof, I wonder, why you fear, that anyone could want to alienate Polish users. I agree that Caius2ga cannot be classified as a vandal. While his contributions are mostly useful, our friend Nico is a typical monothematic contributor, and I've always been skeptical towards those having only one topic and writing nothing else. On the other hand I wonder, or moreover, I am completely bewildered, why Caius2ga and Wik never reply to a question, never try to help finding a consense. This makes mediation so difficult: If a contributor like Taw comes in and says, I will always revert, there is nothing to discuss, what can a mediator do? I was helpless, Kosebamse was helpless, and John is helpless now. If an arbitrator ends up with a mainly pro-German version (what I don't hope), one could not claim, that it wouldn't be at least partially the fault of people like Caius2ga and Taw. -- Baldhur 15:22, 8 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hey, re:Upper Silesia, I think you're probably right. I think the best thing to do at the moment is just take out the whole thing about Opole being the historic capital (as I explained at the talk page), since it's not currently the capital. That information can be reinstated if someone wants to write about the history. (BTW, would "formerly Oppeln" be more or less offensive than "German Oppeln" as marginal criteria?). As far as the main Silesia article goes, and caius2ga, I suppose I've probably been too quick to accuse him of vandalism. I would say, however, that his behavior on that talk page has been utterly out of line. He repeatedly engaged in nonsense designed to make my attempted vote less visible, and added nonsense questions. He also tried to vandalize Nico's user page, and has frequently accused people of being Nazi apologists. I agree that he's made many useful contributions to other articles, but I think his behavior on this particular dispute has been simply unconscionable. I've probably acted badly on that page too - in particular, I've been too quick to anger, and I've shot off my mouth too quickly and been demonstrated to be wrong, but I think Caius2ga's behavior has been on a completely different level of obnoxiousness from anybody else's. In any event, I've become too emotionally invested in the whole mess. At this point, I just hope that a reasonable decent article can be worked out. I'm going to try to withdraw from active discussion until others work something out. john 05:40, 9 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Hi Krzysztof, what do you think how we should proceed on the Silesia talk page. I noticed, that there has been little traffic in the last days. The current version of the article is obviously not accepted, and we do not have another version. I would be pleased, if you could give your feedback on Talk:Silesia (above the "Silesia (moderated) always has the consensus version" line). Or, if you want to e-mail me, you may do so: my address is mt AT mirko HYPHEN thiessen DOT de. A similar message goes to Space Cadet, Szopen, Nico and Matusz. -- Baldhur 17:32, 17 Dec 2003 (UTC)

Medicine

[edit]

Hello, pleased to find another doctor on Wikipedia. I'm trying to rally support for a more concentrated effort (including pretty blue boxes etc.) for the Wikipedia medical pages. Please see User:Jfdwolff/WikiDoc for some preliminary information. I saw you were previously involved in the Wikiproject on medical conditions. JFW 11:03, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thank you for your kind talk page message. I'll see if I can come up with anything substantial on the perceived readership. Please check on the WIKIDOC page in a while to see if you can manage to agree with my proposal. Are there any fields you'd like to commit yourself to? (You mentioned endocrinology and cardiology somewhere else...) JFW 19:14, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for your message. As you might have seen, I've addressed the "readership level" on the WIKIDOC page. The way I see it now, nobody would be doing large amounts of work on their own (unless they want to!) Rather, it means: working basically along similar guidelines, using identifiable jargon terms and having some layout conventions. JFW 20:53, 8 Apr 2004 (UTC)

Halibutt 21:20, Jul 26, 2004 (UTC)

Halibutt 22:57, Jul 26, 2004 (UTC)
Zamieściłem to zdjątko. Halibutt 09:49, Jul 28, 2004 (UTC)
Krzysztofie, czy mógłbyś przygotować w wolnej chwili notki o Pełczyńskim i Chruścielu? Wystarczyły by ogryzki na podstawie naszej wiki... Halibutt 17:22, Jul 30, 2004 (UTC)

Illustrations in other languages

[edit]

You are right in pointing out the importance of non-language-dependent illustrations. I've always tried to keep that in mind when illustrating (for example, my recent pics for Enigma machine are labelled with numbers only). If there are any of my diagrams that you would like text-less versions of, let me know and I'll gladly supply them. -- Wapcaplet 17:25, 11 Aug 2004 (UTC)

EasyTimeline

[edit]

Kpjas, EasyTimeline has been made UTF-8 aware recently. 2 caveats: only extended ASCII range accented characters are recognized so far, and a few of those, e.g. è ñ are missing from the internal font used by Ploticus (which does the rendering). Complete unicode support will come once external fonts support has been added. This will take some time (months), as I am pretty busy with other Wikipedia work right now. Cheers, Erik Zachte 22:42, 15 Aug 2004 (UTC)

PP Wieczorkiewicz

[edit]

Halibutt 23:23, Aug 25, 2004 (UTC)

Article Licensing

[edit]

Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 1000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

Option 1
I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

OR

Option 2
I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual

Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk) 19:11, Dec 8, 2004 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading the image

I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use gfdl if you release it under the GFDL, or fairuse if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the image and I'll tag it for you. Question on old edit

[edit]

Hi,

I noticed that in October 2003 (!!!) you added the datum that Ibn Nafis discovered the circulatory system in 1268 in the article circulatory system. However, this disagrees with the date of 1242 given in Ibn Nafis by a whopping 26 years! I looked online for a source to no avail; do you have a reference for the datum in question? I would like to fix whichever article is in need of fixing, but I can't do it without a reference and unfortunately I can't find one myself. (Internal inconsistencies drive me crazy!) Thanks for your help.

Thank you, your source is quite helpful. I will update the articles as required. - Bryan is Bantman 01:05, May 3, 2005 (UTC)

Hi - I made a list of users who've been around long enough to have made lots of edits but aren't admins. If you're at all interested in becoming an admin, can you please add an '*' immediately before your name in this list? I've suggested folks nominating someone might want to puruse this list, although there is certainly no guarantee anyone will ever look at it. Thanks. -- Rick Block (talk) 17:16, Jun 18, 2005 (UTC)

Hi Krzysztof. Good to see that you are still active here. I don't know if you remember me, we had some mail contact about the Silesia article two or three years ago. I saw you thought my idea was good about gathering info from other languages. I can't speak every language in Wikipedia so I'm wondering could you do some? Treebark (talk) 16:05, 22 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I will look over the report once it's finished and check spelling errors and other stuff. Were going to do one report on one language each week. This upcoming week, is going to be French. The following week will be Polish so Augast 7, or something like that who would be the Polish week. Please see User:Treebark/French Wikipedia report. Feel free to edit it. T®eebark (talk) 15:12, 26 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for the report from the Polish Wikipedia. We will need to do another language on Augast 7, just so you know I fixed the date so you can start thinking what language you want to do. I'm going to move it to a better location, and make some formatting changes. If you don't know what to do, I've written some languages at User:Treebark/Table though you can make up your own list or go in any order you want. Just see Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2006-07-31/Interwiki report to make any other changes you want. Do the same thing you did; plan the article on your talkpage next week, I'll go and look at it, and I'll move it for publication or you can. Thanks. T®eebark (talk) 14:44, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Polish Wikipedia

[edit]

Sure, I'll copyedit it. Would you mind overseeing the whole project by copyediting each week and alerting users who forget to write about the language? I told Ral315 that you and me would oversee all this. If you want to know who's writing you can find out at User:Treebark/Table along with the order. Every week after they've finished we'll go ahead and copyedit; fix stuff, and format etc. If a user is running late and I've yet to say anything go to WP:SIGN/N/O and put under "Interwiki Report"... This (put user's name here) is writing but is late this week. I have enformed him. And then you can copyedit it along with me. It goes live tommorow, Monday July 31. I saw your comment on Michael Snow's talkpage. This user will be publishing this week. I switched it around because I couldn't find someone to do the French Wikipedia and you had already started the Polish Wikipedia, by the time I started thinking about trying to get someone to write about the French Wikipedia. eebark t | c 17:15, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The editor in chief said it was O.K to do this. You can decide what you want to do; I think I like your idea of how to write the report; as I won't be having Internet connection for 3 months or so. eebark t | c 22:03, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Kpjas, I noticed your comment on Treebark's talk page. You may be interested in Wikizine, a Wikimedia publication that serves all communities and is intended to serve all languages. The editor is Walter (en); I'm sure he would appreciate your help in either writing or translating news. If I remember correctly, his intent was to make Wikizine multi-lingual, but that process stopped because of a lack of translators. If you're interested, talk to him. Thanks! Flcelloguy (A note?) 23:43, 30 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for putting together the report. Since we have it already, I figure it might as well go live with the July 31 issue rather than the August 7 issue. Ral315 will put the issue together, but it looks like he's okay with the concept too. --Michael Snow 01:46, 31 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

French Wikipedia report done

[edit]

Well, here shows the French Wikipedia report is coming along. I had actully planned (Since Pyb hadn't replied to me) to do a report of my own; so EyOne helped me; and I added some tidbits from him. Well it looks, like this is going well, I tried looking at the Recent changes on the Chinese Wikipedia yesterday, and as you can see from my contributions, the user Mikepanhu or something did not reply. I asked someone about the Swedish Wikipedia-they did reply and said no. Well, I'm off to see if I can get someone from the Chinese or Swedish Wikipedia. I've just asked Hux about a report for the Italian Wikipedia. Kind regards, Carmelapple 21:32, 4 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Removing my old message; had no content expect for the people who I'm asking are not responding to me. Someone signed up to do the Chinese Wikipedia, so I gave them a few tips on there talk page, see User:Treebark/Table for more. Carmelapple 14:12, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Sure, I will. Note, I will be on vacation for August 28. I'm trying to get someone to do the Italian Wikipedia scheduled for that date; but you will have to copyedit it because I won't be here. I think that's the only week I'm going to miss, but I have to check my schedule. Would you like to help at WP:SIGN/N/O get news results and put them in "In the news" from Google results for Wikipedia, the link at the bottom? Carmelapple 15:24, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Catherine has been but she hasn't done in weeks. See Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/2006-08-07/In the news for more. Michael Snow has done it, and we were so far behind subscribing to "In the news" this week, so I finished it for Michael. Carmelapple 15:35, 5 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

August 28, and Spetember 4th

[edit]

I will be unavabile, August 28, which is a Monday so I've got to tell you a few things to do with the signpost. I leave the August 23, and return Spetember 3rd. As the interwiki report is written on the weekend; I'll be able to help copyediting but not writing. I'll try and make sure those spots are filled before I leave. Anyways, I've been doing this. Once the report has been written go to the Wikipedia Signpost Newsroom and put next to interwiki which is the toppest most thing under regular features and put "In progress." When you've finished, put "Done" and the publishers will take it from there. I won't be able to help do anything for the August 28th issue. I should be writing the Spetember 11th report about Simple English though...BTW, as I said above the Chinese Wikipedia report is ready. Carmelapple 23:44, 9 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yes, and updating. It was prepared the day after the Polish Wikipedia report was published and made it to me the day before the French Wikipedia report was published. Do you think we should create a formatting page? When I ask users to do this I always give them examples by looking at the already published Polish, French, or German report but it would be helpful if we used one link to give examples to upcoming writers. Let me know what you think. Carmelapple 14:01, 10 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I sent the following email to you, but your address is incorrect and it was returned:

Dear Doctor Krzysztof, Congratulations on your long time contributions to Wikipedia! I just came across your User page while checking the history of one of the pages about Poland. In June 2006 I started writing articles to the English Wikipedia (specifically about Oflag and Stalags, while somebody still remembers what they were) and Polish Wikipedia. In the latter I have been criticized because of my mistakes in Polish which have caused other Wikipedians extra work! Incidentally my first article in both Wikipedias was about Dr. Mirosław Vitali, when I was astounded to find no references to him at all, anywhere. For many years I have been running my own web-sie http://biega.com, but I am concerned that when I finally kick the bucket nobody will maintain it and all the work I have done will be lost. Hopefully one of my grandsons will continue to maintain it. Z serdecznym uściskiem

I fixed something... I also updated statistics, because they were more than two weeks old... By the way, maybe it's better to speak about the Wikimedia Italia Meeting using the past tense, as it has just concluded... Please check the corrections... --Gia.cossa 10:10, 3 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]
