Problem
[edit]Hi, I saw your edit to Peter van Pels. Before you edited, the article looked like this; you changed it to this. Obviously, you did something wrong, but you are a newcomer. I reverted your edit. You tried again, more than once, and your edits were reverted by a robot that looks for vandalism, but that, being non-human, can't judge motives. I looked at your contributions, and I see that you uploaded this image. I assume, therefore, that you were making a good-faith effort to add that image to the article, and somehow what you did produced the wrong image.
I strongly suggest you stop for the moment. Try to edit some articles, by correcting obvious typos, adding information, etc. Leave the complicated things like adding images for the moment. The bot will just keep reverting you, and it will be frustrating for you.
We have very strict policy on copyright here at Wikipedia, because it's a free encyclopaedia, and we want all content to be reusable as free content. So, any image that is uploaded has to have complete information about where it came from, and what the copyright status is. If that information is not provided, the image has to be deleted.
My suggestion is that you ask Durin on his talk page or Jkelly on his talk page for help with this image. They're both administrators here, as I am, but they're both far more familiar with image copyright policy than I am. They're also both very helpful and would be very willing to talk a newcomer through the steps, if the image is legal for use on Wikipedia. I'll leave a message for both of them, telling them about the image you uploaded and your attempts (presumably) to add it to an article. In the meantime, Happy Editing. Experimenting with editing
[edit]You might want to check out Wikipedia:Sandbox rather than experimenting with editing techniques on articles. --Durin 02:34, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
