Information icon Hello, I'm 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63. I wanted to let you know that one or more external links you added have been removed because they seemed to be inappropriate for an encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page, or take a look at our guidelines about links. Thank you. 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 16:26, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, Kenrobol01. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. Editing for the purpose of advertising or promotion is not permitted. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:

  • avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, company, organization or competitors;
  • propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • disclose your COI when discussing affected articles (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Also please note that editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. 2601:188:180:11F0:65F5:930C:B0B2:CD63 (talk) 16:26, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. It might not have been your intention, but you recently removed maintenance templates from Wikipedia. When removing maintenance templates, please be sure to either resolve the problem that the template refers to, or give a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Please see Help:Maintenance template removal for further information on when maintenance templates should or should not be removed. If this was a mistake, don't worry, as your removal of this template has been reverted. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia, and if you would like to experiment, please use the sandbox. Please help me with...

What did I do wrong?

Kenrobol01 (talk) 17:33, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • I'll let someone else answer at greater length, but I've already enumerated the issues: You've removed maintenance templates without fixing the problems, and may have added copyright violation content to an article; you've added a spam link to an article; and you appear to have used multiple accounts to similar promotional ends, without acknowledging your conflict of interest, per Wikipedia's guidelines. 2601:188:180:11F0:80F2:9EE7:F03A:5B7F (talk) 17:37, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]
  • You also reemerged as an editor here just after the article's subject was blocked for unacceptable edits and conflict of interest, giving the appearance of working together to subvert policy. 2601:188:180:11F0:80F2:9EE7:F03A:5B7F (talk) 17:39, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I had been updating politicans in Eastern North Carolina. Murphy just happened to be one.

Been working on all of our local politicians. How do I do references? I see now that I can' put them in as inline.

Should I remove the article links? I have added article links to other individuals.

I've gone through the Bob Steinburg article. Among the problems in that page:
  • You added external links inline. References should be put into footnotes instead; see WP:Referencing for beginners on how to easily create nicely-formatted footnotes.
  • You added unreferenced, promotional content. "Steinburg is a lifelong republican and a leader in the Republican party in North Carolina"? Says who? I didn't find him mentioned on https://www.nc.gop/, nor did I find any news reports describing him as a party leader.
  • You misrepresented sources. "Steinburg found dire conditions in prisons during his call for reform"? The source is very careful to say that those are just Steinburg's allegations, it does not confirm those "dire conditions" in its own voice. In fact, one of steinburg's colleagues is quoted as contradicting him.
I also noticed that you removed the {{coi}} tag here. Given the nature of your edits, it seems highly likely that you indeed have a conflict of interest; then you should not remove the tag. Huon (talk) 19:23, 25 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. It's not my intention. I will remove and fix. Thank you.

Why did the HB get removed in Murphy? It's an Opioid problem in North Carolina. It's found on Speaker Moore's Wikipedia page.

Because the article was corrupted by copyright violations, and we had to revert back quite a bit to find a clean version. I'll add that it was very poorly sourced, too. Huon (talk) 18:41, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. It's not my intention. I would like to see what was poorly sourced on Murphy. Like to improve.

How do I add to the footnotes? I keep seeing a template. Keep giving me links, but still no luck on how to add to it.

Information icon Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Greg Murphy (politician), without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. Melcous (talk) 08:27, 26 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Greenville, North Carolina. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it.
Your edit here to Greenville, North Carolina was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove links which are discouraged per our external links guideline. The external link(s) you added or changed (https://www.facebook.com/Tar-River-Fellowship-1548627568546164/) is/are on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia.
If you were trying to insert an external link that does comply with our policies and guidelines, then please accept my creator's apologies and feel free to undo the bot's revert. However, if the link does not comply with our policies and guidelines, but your edit included other, constructive, changes to the article, feel free to make those changes again without re-adding the link. Please read Wikipedia's external links guideline for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Hello, Kenrobol01, welcome to Wikipedia and thank you for your contributions. Your editing pattern indicates that you may be using multiple accounts or coordinating editing with people outside Wikipedia, such as Kenrobol (talk · contribs). Our policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow this, and users who use multiple accounts may be blocked from editing. If you operate multiple accounts directly or with the help of another person, please disclose these connections. Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:52, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. Drm310 🍁 (talk) 21:56, 27 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Your recent talk page comments were not added to the bottom of the page. New discussion page messages and topics should always be added to the bottom. Your message may have been moved. In the future you can use the "New section" link in the top right. I appreciate all of your comments from everyone. It is getting a little confusing so I started a new one. I am aware of kenrobol. It's the same person because I can't seem to find the password.

I also understand now the rules better and trying work through them. May I ask your suggestions if I can't find the password information for kenrobol?

Please just choose one of the accounts to use, and abandon the other permanently. You seem to be using this one now, so forget about the other one.
You also still aren't signing your posts. Please do so in the future so that others can identify which comments are yours and when you entered them. Thanks. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 04:35, 28 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I tried on a recent post. I would like to post about three or four bills sponsored by local legislatures, but don't want to get the rath of wiki gods on me. Kenrobol01 (talk) 16:05, 28 December 2017 (UTC)kenrobol01[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Clark Twiddy requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Article on Mark Johnson

[edit]

Hello! I was reading your article on Mark Johnson, and while I think that you have some good information in the article, it is quite unbalanced in terms of tone. For example, you do explicitly call him a "hero figure" in the article while neglecting to mention more controversial information that paints him in a negative light, such as his opposition to teacher rallies. I'm not trying to make you look bad; I simply think that you are allowing some bias to affect your writing. This apparently has been an issue for you in the past, so I will create a list you should follow when making a Wikipedia article:

  • Ensure that you are addressing both sides of an issue. This seems to be your main issue when it comes to writing articles. It is very evident that you write with a strong Republican bias, so there are two ways you can fix this issue: either pretend like you care very little about the opinions the subject of the article expresses or incorporate traditionally Democratic-leaning sources into your writing. This will help provide a balanced perspective and ensure that your articles are not flagged for NPOV violations or conflicts of interest.
  • Be sure to cite sources in one consistent style. On the Mark Johnson article, sources are linked in multiple different ways, and even in the correctly formatted citations there are numerous errors in spelling. This creates confusion for people reading the article. Be sure to cite your sources the way Wikipedia asks for them to be formatted. By doing this, you will ensure that people can clearly understand what your sources are saying.
  • Use a spell-checker or similar software. The articles are not written in proper English and overall communicate the information poorly, as there are rampant misspellings and grammatical errors, especially in the "Political career" section. I would suggest using some kind of spell-checker like Grammarly, which helps with spelling and minor grammatical mistakes. It won't catch everything and it may mark things wrong incorrectly, but it will help to minimize errors in the articles.
  • Use and utilize sources properly. Several of your sources are just bare links, and one doesn't even link to a website that exists anymore. Again, your sources exhibit a strong bias toward the Republican Party and ignore criticism from left-leaning people and groups, some of which may be warranted and all of which should be mentioned in this article when discussing what Johnson has done.
  • Use official photos. This is pretty self-explanatory; if the government provides an official photo or portrait for a person, use it in the box in the upper-right corner of the article. You may also want to revise the caption on the second picture to make it more neutral; for example, "Mark Johnson in 2018."
  • Properly format headers. You should not include the "2018" that is sitting by itself at the top of the section "Political career" unless you plan to expand this section to include other years. If you do so, please follow the style shown after this bullet point. Headers in your sections should be formatted this way:

Subsection

[edit]

This would be the formatting for the "2018" or for the other headers if it is removed.

Sub-subsection

[edit]

This would be the formatting for the other headers if "2018" is kept.

  • If you have any questions on how to write articles, consult the Wikipedia style guide or ask a fellow Wikipedian. These pages and people are there to help you become the best Wikipedia editor you can be, and they are valuable resources for any Wikipedian, regardless of how long they have been on the platform. Don't be afraid to ask questions; we all make mistakes and need guidance sometimes!

I hope that these steps will help you make better Wikipedia articles, and also that you will someday become one of the greatest Wikipedians in terms of article quality! WhittleMario (talk) 02:42, 4 April 2019 (UTC)[reply]
