Métis buffalo hunt
[edit]Absolutely great topic. I haven't read the whole article yet, but I'm already impressed with the little I have read. A request, can you add anything about hunts that originated from other Metis settlements besides Red River? I know in Alberta there are a Metis hunt organized out of St. Albert (near Fort Edmonton). Anyway, cheers! --Kevlar (talk • contribs) 00:03, 15 January 2014 (UTC)
Chipewyan people
[edit]Chipewyan people: Regarding change from Aboriginal peoples in Canada to First Nations. The reason I originally changed First Nations to Aboriginal peoples in Canada was to include Chipewyan Métis people (Canada) who are excluded in the First Nations definition. There are several thousand Chipewyan Métis who consider themselves Chipewyan and speak the language.... Kayoty (talk)...Kayoty 20:59, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
- Yes, the Métis is not First Nations. OK, changed to Aboriginal peoples in Canada. Thanks--Kmoksy (talk) 21:27, 21 March 2014 (UTC)
Signature
[edit]Hi Kayoty, just thought I'd drop you a line and let you know about WP:SIGLINK, which says "Signatures must include at least one direct internal link to your user page, user talk page, or contributions page." Since you do include your user name, I think it's clear you're not trying to hide anything, but you should probably go ahead and add such a link. --BDD (talk) 23:20, 26 March 2014 (UTC)

Yorkton map image.
[edit]The map showing western canada in the 1900's showed the city's position in Assiniboia, that the city was named yorkton at that time and that the rail line was completed to the city at that time. The photo of the spirit wrestlers is significant to them as they arrived at yorkton to take on the new world. Could you reconsider the removal of those images?
Sincerely, John. (talk) 08:37, 21 July 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for the reply. I am in the process of gathering information for the history section about the doukhobors and will add the photo at that time.
I was using the map to show the name change of the city occurred between 1889 and 1900 but I see what you mean about it not being tied to the subject matter properly. I will search for more relevant references to show the name change occurance.
If you have the time can you please take a look at the discussion page for Yorkton and weigh in on an area code debate for the info box (see edit history) that's been going on? If you have any knowledge of the subject you can provide it would be appreciated.
Sincerely, John. (talk) 08:37, 21 July 2014 (UTC)

Infobox Template Documentation (a boring read)
[edit]I noticed your comment on the Rouleau page and thought this may be handy as well: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Template:Infobox_settlement/doc#Population.2C_demographics
It's the documentation for the infobox template and provides sometimes helpful definitions of what each field does (although the documentation seems somewhat incomplete in places I find it usually manageable.)
The population figures, when moved around in the info box, can produce titles such as Village, Town and City when a population is placed in the "urban" field. While I totally agree with you that the phrase urban does not refer to small places normally, in a programmers mind it just might...
Thanks for your time, hope it's helpful. :-)

Hi Kayoty,
Thanks for revising the Morris Manitoba information. I inserted the revisions about all the restaurants in the town because I felt that people were not getting all the information regarding what had happened when the two restaurants that closed were discussed. I believe in Wikipedia, and in the importance of keeping the information accurate and balanced. Again thanks,

Articles on La Loche
[edit]Hi Kayoty,
thanks for creating all those articles about La Loche. They're really helpful, and it's interesting to read about the deep history of it. Presently me and a colleague are staying in La Loche, working with the Dene language. We were wondering if you wouldn't have the time to meet with us - if you're staying in La Loche yourself, that is. We would really be interested in learning more about the history of this place, and maybe our project could be interesting for you, too.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New 10,000 Challenge for Canada
[edit]Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Canada/The 10,000 Challenge is up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge for the UK which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. If you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Canada like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1600 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for Canada but fuelled by a contest such as The North America Destubathon to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. I would like some support from Canadian wikipedians here to get the Challenge off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile! Cheers. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)
