I am trying to create a page on historical group called 'The India League'

- I see you've successfully created a draft and submitted it for review. If you have questions about how to edit Wikipedia, please be more specific about what you need help with. — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 02:08, 14 June 2020 (UTC)
Thank you :)

Thanks again for your help. How do I ensure that page is SEO? For example, when somebody types in 'India League or 'The India League' into Google, this Wiki page comes up. At the moment, nothing comes up from a Google Search. Warm regards, Jimmy.
- Drafts do not show up on a Google search until they are submitted and approved. It will also take some time for Google to catch up and start showing the page on its listings. For what reason do you need to make it show on Google? - RichT|C|E-Mail 13:10, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

Thank you Richard. Has the India League page been approved? The reason why I ask is that everybody seems to confuse 'The India League' with the 'Indian Independence League'. I'm a researcher in the field of the Indian freedom struggle in Britain and just want to ensure that the best information is made available :)
- See below, it has been accepted - RichT|C|E-Mail 15:01, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

I am trying to upload a picture of the logo to the 'India League' page. I own these historical document where the logo is shown and I took a picture of it (the logo) with my camera. However, I get this message -
'We could not determine whether this file is suitable for Wikimedia Commons. Please only upload photos that you took yourself with your camera, or see what else is acceptable. See the guide to make sure the file is acceptable and learn how to upload it on Wikimedia Commons.' Could you please assist me in uploading the logo? Thank you.
- Hello, Jimmy! Since the photo you are trying to upload is of a logo, it falls under the non-free content jurisdiction, and as such may be uploaded, but with some restrictions. I would recommend using the File Upload Wizard to upload this image. Make sure to name the article you will use it in and that the image is the logo of an organization. You will have to provide the source of the logo and any copyright information on it. You may then add the image to the article. For any other questions on images with logos, I would recommend reading through WP:LOGO. Hope this helped! Pupsterlove02 talk • contribs 22:47, 16 June 2020 (UTC)

[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Ujagar Singh Rurka requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Kaisertalk (talk) 01:55, 13 July 2020 (UTC)

Mohyal Brahmin
[edit]Hi, I've had to revert your big edit at Mohyal Brahmin. A lot of it was based on the first two new sources that you introduced - Strachey and the caste history - but we do not consider Raj era sources to be reliable, nor are histories of a caste usually acceptable (especially not if written or published by members of the caste).{{pb}]It was difficult for me to untangle what might be useful among the rest of your edit because you seemed to have built something of a house of cards, with other statements being dependent on those verified to the two sources I have just mentioned. It is quite possible that somewhere in that lot there was something reliably sourced, useful and capable of standing on its own without any synthesis etc. I wouldn't have a problem with such things being reinstated but it might be better to raise them at Talk:Mohyal Brahmin first and get some sort of consensus. Thanks. - Sitush (talk) 19:49, 30 July 2020 (UTC)

Your draft article, Draft:Ujagar Singh Rurka

, or {{db-g13}}
code.

Dr Nikita Ved moved to draftspace
[edit]An article you recently created, Dr Nikita Ved, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. ... discospinster talk 02:13, 20 March 2021 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of India League
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on India League requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.1928institute.org/our-journey. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, JumpingJimmySingh. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{request edit}} template);
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam#External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 08:15, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
- - - - - - - - Hey there, thank you for your message. I do not have any conflict of interests to declare...I am just a keen observer of British Indians and wish to add the Wiki's knowledge base. I have made numerous edits on Wiki and could you continue to let me edit the British Indians page?

[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment, or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Minor edits

Copyright problem: India League (1928 Institute)
[edit]Hello JumpingJimmySingh! We welcome and appreciate your contributions, such as India League (1928 Institute), but we regretfully cannot accept copyrighted material from other websites or printed works. This article appears to contain work copied from https://web.archive.org/web/20210907075921/https://www.1928institute.org/our-journey, and therefore to constitute a violation of Wikipedia's copyright policies. The copyrighted text has been or will soon be deleted. While we appreciate your contributions, copying content from other websites is unlawful and against Wikipedia's copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators are likely to lose their editing privileges.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under license allowed by Wikipedia, then you should do one of the following:
- Have the author release the text under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License (CC BY-SA 3.0) by leaving a message explaining the details at Talk:India League (1928 Institute) and send an email with confirmation of permission to "permissions-enwikimedia.org". Make sure they quote the exact page name, India League (1928 Institute), in their email. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If you hold the copyright to the work: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 License and GNU Free Documentation License, and note that you have done so on Talk:India League (1928 Institute). See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted "under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License (CC-BY-SA), version 3.0", or that the work is released into the public domain, or if you have strong reason to believe it is, leave a note at Talk:India League (1928 Institute) with a link to where we can find that note or your explanation of why you believe the content is free for reuse.
It may also be necessary for the text to be modified to have an encyclopedic tone and to follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
See Wikipedia:Declaration of consent for all enquiries for a template of the permissions letter the copyright holder is expected to send.
Otherwise, you may rewrite this article from scratch. If you would like to begin working on a new version of the article you may do so at this temporary page. Leave a note at Talk:India League (1928 Institute) saying you have done so and an administrator will move the new article into place once the issue is resolved.
Thank you, and please feel welcome to continue contributing to Wikipedia. Happy editing! — Diannaa (talk) 21:26, 3 December 2021 (UTC) - - - - - - Thank you Dianne, I appreciate the advise. I have all the relevant permissions and the website-owner has sent at e-mail and has left a note on Talk:India League (1928 Institute). Could you please advise on next steps? Will the page get reinstated now? Thank you once again.
JumpingJimmySingh (talk) 17:52, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- There's no note at Talk:India League (1928 Institute), JumpingJimmySingh. That page doesn't yet exist because no one has posted anything there. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:15, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
- ...I should clarify that I don't think this necessarily matters as long as the e-mail has been sent. That said, the article needs to be based largely on independent sources, not on text from the institute's own website. Cordless Larry (talk) 18:44, 5 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi there, has somebody deleted the page? I believe the owners on the page gave permission for it to be used but I can't seem to find it now.

[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be repeatedly reverting or undoing other editors' contributions at India League. Although this may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is known as "edit warring" and is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, as it often creates animosity between editors. Instead of reverting, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.
If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose their editing privileges on that page. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to result in loss of your editing privileges. Thank you. Cordless Larry (talk) 10:58, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
Hi Cordless Larry
I've used the recent BBC article as a source and have referred to these two sentences. The hidden story of these early pioneers has been highlighted by The 1928 Institute think tank, set up to research and represent British Indians. Formerly known as the India League, the organisation has since rebranded due to its work with the University of Oxford. I think it's important to highlight why the name change occurred. The BBC have conducted their own research and they made made statement (as opposed to using a quote) - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-coventry-warwickshire-58627849. Could this please be reflected on the page to improve its accuracy?
JumpingJimmySingh (talk) 11:06, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
- Let's discuss this at Talk:India League, which is a more appropriate venue. Cordless Larry (talk) 12:08, 13 December 2021 (UTC)
Hello, I noticed that you may have recently made edits while logged out. Wikipedia's policy on multiple accounts usually does not allow the use of both an account and an IP address by the same person in the same setting and doing so may result in your account being blocked from editing. Additionally, making edits while logged out reveals your IP address, which may allow others to determine your location and identity. If this was not your intention, please remember to log in when editing. Thank you. Drmies (talk) 18:08, 20 December 2021 (UTC)
I have only edited the page from my account and none-other. Why would I use another account? What proof is there that I've used another account? I am being blocked and silenced from editing because my arguments have logic and another member is trying to bully me into submission.

My evidence and arguments on the page are cogent and correct. You can see the evidence for yourself and come to the same conclusion that the 1928 Institute is the rebranded India League. I am being silenced as another editor is unable to argue with my points and is bullying me into submission. Furthermore, I have only edited the page from my account and none-other. I am on Wikipedia for the public good and shouldn't have to waste my time getting bullied and silenced.
