Joseph, checkout Box Office Guru to get an updated international gross for Godzilla. Godzilla has grossed 312 million internationally as of Aug 10th and it will be more after Japan and Ukraine grosses are added from this past weekend. I know for a fact Godzilla earned close to 5 mil this past weekend in Japan.

A tag has been placed on File:View of Shillong at night.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.  Ronhjones  (Talk) 23:36, 5 June 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Using inaccurate/misleading edit summaries

[edit]

Hi, I noticed that you seem to be using edit summaries like "fix typo" or "fix grammar" for edits that are most definitely not fixing typos. (See this edit for instance.) Please make sure that your edit summaries actually describe what you're doing in the edit. ~Adjwilley (talk) 00:47, 21 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I second what Adjwilley says above. There is no requirement to use edit summaries so you are free to leave them blank, but if you do use them they must not be misleading. Betty Logan (talk) 09:33, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adjwilley and Betty Logan, I wonder if there is a language barrier with Josephlalrinhlua786. And like I've pointed out to Betty Logan via email, I have my suspicion that Lucy White (talk · contribs) is Josephlalrinhlua786. Flyer22 (talk) 04:48, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Interesting...there does seem to be some overlap, but I noticed that the prompt for edit summaries in mobile editing is "Example: fixed typo, added content" so a lot of mobile edits will probably look alike. I have blocked Josephlalrinhlua786 for 2 days because of the edit summary issue, which will hopefully get their attention. ~Adjwilley (talk) 05:20, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't know that about the mobile phone editing. That explains why I often see new editors adding material with the edit summary "Added content." Flyer22 (talk) 05:31, 26 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Adjwilley and Betty Logan, judging by this, this and this, there is not much of a language barrier between us and Josephlalrinhlua786. He is capable of explaining himself well enough in edit summaries. Josephlalrinhlua786, it's obviously good that you've gotten better with edit summaries. Do try to use them more often, and make sure that your edits are accurate and are not WP:Synthesis. Also, regarding the first link I pointed to in this paragraph, be careful not to label WP:Good faith edits as WP:Vandalism. Even if an editor's edits are WP:Disruptive, those edits are not necessarily WP:Vandalism. By that, I mean if the editor truly means well and is not trying to harm Wikipedia. Dragon Blade, screenings

[edit]

Hi, on Dragon Blade I noticed that you updated the box office for the film with The Hollywood Reporter article, which is great. But I noticed that you also put "with 100,581 screenings and 2.1 million attendances" [1], which is from the article, but when you put it in a context like that, it is incorrect. I noticed that in many of these Hollywood Reporter articles, they mentions the screenings and attendances, but these figures are NOT referring to the cumulative screenings and attendances of the film, but it is referring to the 7 days period of box office tracking (you notice that these Hollywood Reporter articles on box office in China comes out every 7 days).

And surely if this film made over 100 million dollars it would've had more than 100,581 screenings and 2 million attendances in its entire run, wouldn't it? So when you update the box office for films in the future, it is probably best to note that these figures for screenings and attendances are not for the entire run of the film. Or perhaps skip them and just mention the box office gross. And thank you for updating the article.--Thomasettaei (talk) 11:39, 10 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I think similar information on screenings, attendances, etc. is on the From Vegas to Macau II and Boonie Bears: Mystical Winter articles. Can you perhaps fix them as well?--Thomasettaei (talk) 11:26, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary subheadings: MOS:Paragraphs

[edit]

Hey, Josephlalrinhlua786. You've seen me revert you at times while citing MOS:Paragraphs; the part I am referring to is where it states, "Short paragraphs and single sentences generally do not warrant their own subheading." It is usually not good form to create a subheading for one-sentence material, material that is a couple of sentences or material that is otherwise significantly small. Just like the Critical reception section usually does not need to be broken up into Positive reviews and Negative reviews, the Box section usually, or at least often, does not need to be broken up into North America and Outside North America or North America and Other territories. The non-heading text can inform readers what content pertains to "outside North America," like the Cinderella (2015 film) article does. That is why I reverted you here, here and here at that article. If the box office content becomes hefty, like the box office content at the Fifty Shades of Grey (film) article currently is, then it is a good idea to split the content into subsections. Flyer22 (talk) 20:46, 22 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

And I've reverted you again on this; stop WP:Edit warring on it. You don't discuss matters on the talk page, so I can hardly expect a discussion with you. Even so, I can seek some form of WP:Dispute resolution, such as going to WP:Film, to ensure that you follow Wikipedia's guidelines, including MOS:Paragraphs. AoU box office

[edit]

Please read WP:IINFO. We are not a collection of statistic material. There is nothing notable about the two day earnings (that I can see) and we can easily just have the weekend number. Secondly, you yourself removed the info on the $3 million IMAX domestic record. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 17:00, 5 May 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for pointing out my flaws and I will work on that, but u see I'm just following what happened in the page The Avengers and Iron Man 3 and many other articles that has put the day 1 day 2 or even day 3 gross. So if u removed my "hardwork" box office edits in this page, why not remove those edits that includes those grosses from unecessary days? I mean if u don't that would be discrimination and bias right? If point your finger at one editor making a mistake and u clean that out and then there's dozens of other articles having the same mistake but u don't do nothing about u, I mean how it that even justified. I feel like you're the only one whose having problem with it. Look at the cast section, it's so long and stuffy and excessively detailed. And next time please instead of reverting someone else's hardwork, instead try editing or collecting news for the page like eg, the page lacks the news about the controversial Germany cinema boycott and the box office opening impact the Saturday Manny-Paman fight had. Why not add those info rather than minding ur business into someone else's work?. Try adding that Germany cinema boycott, I suggest you to.

Copying = lazy and bad

[edit]

Regarding this edit, as we've all presumably learned in grammar school, copying is bad. Please don't copy/paste content like this from sources again. You can include facts like dates and names and titles, but you cannot copy prose without marking it as a quotation, because prose is copyrighted. This is something Wikipedia takes very seriously and can easily result in a block. You've been warned before about copyright violations, I see. There was another problem too, that you indiscriminately included information about the pre-party, as if we're all invited and need to know when to show up. I've removed that as trivial. POV editing

[edit]

Hi Joseph, on at least two occasions I've noticed you changing the Jurassic World budget data to fit what I can only imagine is your preferred POV. Your original edit here was problematic because you seemed to be under the impression that facts are democratically selected. I opened a discussion on the article's talk page and pinged you, but you didn't participate. Resubmitting the same data as you did in this edit without any further discussion, and with an insufficient explanation "budget" tends to make you look sneaky, and that you are trying to cater facts to your point of view. Please don't do this, it's academically dishonest, as well as disruptive. If there are different perspectives about some data, and those perspectives come from various reliable sources, we should be presenting the range of data, not cherrypicking the data we like best. Box Office Mojo numbers aren't up to date.

[edit]

Just wonder why you and others think they are the most accurate site for box office numbers and in particular international numbers? RTurner711 (talk) 11:12, 22 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

We don't, which is why we said that. They are obviously the most accurate source for movie revenues (theatrically), but sometimes they are not always up to date. For example, a recent example can be given to The Maze Runner which they forgot to still include the revenue the film earned from it Japan release (around $4+ million according to Deadline.com. And regarding the "International total box office" section, it tends to really vary with other sites such as Deadline.com, The Hollywood Reporter and Variety, so it's hard to decide which one is more genuine in terms of total gross. But in terms of domestic gross and worldwide gross, they are the most dependable, they systematically and chronologically lists every record and grosses daily - weekly - monthy. What other site does a very intense scrutiny over movie box office performance other than BOM?

Date format

[edit]

Please ensure that when you add dates to articles written in British English—such as Spectre or Kingsman—you do so in a format consistent with the rest of the article. You should note that the format "October 22, 2015" should not be used in articles in British English. – SchroCat (talk) 20:55, 22 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Personal attacks

[edit]

If you insult others, as you did here, I will happily file a report against you at the relevant forum. As per the original resin for reversion, see the thread above: do not use US formats in a British English article. I am bored of having to change your inappropriate formats. – SchroCat (talk) 14:06, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Ya i know what i said and it was wrong, but can't you just simply correct the date format instead of reverting the whole thing? If u knew the fault u could've just corrected it. Simple!

Having corrected several of your poorly formatted additions and left a note here, the onus is on YOU to get it right. - SchroCat (talk) 16:18, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
well than, from now on i will try my utmost effort to not make mistakes again and u stop stalking me. You stick to what you're doing and i'll stick to what i'm doing. Let's not mind someone else's business ok? thank you

[edit]

How many bloody times do you have to be reminded to use the right date format]. It's not bloody difficult, and I'll happily revert your additions if you can't be bothered to do it properly. – SchroCat (talk) 18:11, 29 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Moving articles and sorting

[edit]

Thank you for moving The Legend of Tarzan (film) to the correct location. Be aware that when you are creating or moving an article and the article begins with "The", "A" or "An" (or the equivalent in other languages) that you should introduction a sorting key above the categories. This allows the article to be sorted correctly when one visits the categories it is in. You can read more at WP:SORTKEY. BOVINEBOY2008 02:05, 13 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you.

Hi Joseph. I think the problem with edits like this is an unfamiliarity with how Wikipedia works. Firstly, text you write is usually recoverable if somebody else removes it; if you go to the "History" tab on an article, you can click on an older revision that has your text in it. Don't just blindly restore the old version though, that overwrites other editors work and result in sanctions for edit-warring. I would strongly recommend starting a discussion on Talk:Deadpool (film) explaining why you want to make your changes. Calmly say what the issue is with the content and why you prefer your version. I hope that's of use - I don't like to see editors blocked, especially for relatively minor issues. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 12:12, 15 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ben Hurr

[edit]

The problem with the Ben Hurr page is that it's written using WP:Proseline, or in other words, sentences seemingly are added without concern for the larger picute as a whole. I was not "vandalising" as you put it I was merely trying to make the page easier to read. For instance in the casting section you mention Tom Hiddleson, being considered, mention Morgan Freeman, and then mention that Hiddleson wasn't cast. You also do a similar thing for Olivia Cooke later on in the section. Whereas my edit mentions Hiddleson was considered, not cast and then list who was cast and then move on to the next part.

I'm not the greatest speller, I fully admit that, but I do think I know my way around a Wikipedia article. I think if we work together we can make a great article. --Deathawk (talk) 07:24, 17 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Pattern of disruptive editing detected

[edit]

You are continuing to add numerous citations to Forbes Contributors articles to many Wikipedia articles even though it has been pointed out to you that those articles are not reliable sources because there is no pre-publication editorial process, which means Forbes Contributors sites are essentially glorified blogs hosted under the Forbes masthead. Please review WP:RS and WP:V. If you continue to add information cited to sources that clearly do not comply with Wikipedia policy, your edits may be treated as disruptive editing and reverted on sight. Thank you for your cooperation. --Coolcaesar (talk) 09:42, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Employees? Forbes Contributors are not employees. If you had bothered to spend five minutes actually reading up on how the Forbes Contributors program works, you would not have made that mistake. Do you understand the difference between an employee and an independent contractor? Do you understand the difference between a blogger who posts directly to the Web with no filter, versus a journalist who submits a story to an editor who has discretion as to hold or run the story? Have you actually ever been an employee, independent contractor, blogger, or journalist? (I am beginning to suspect the answer might be no to all of the above.)
Also, the fact that some other editors are also violating WP policy is no excuse. Either you will bring your edits into compliance or you don't. WP:V is non-negotiable. Every WP editor who has attempted to challenge that core policy either came to realize that discretion is the better part of valor, or otherwise, they realized one day they weren't a WP editor any more. --Coolcaesar (talk) 13:53, 20 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
You keep evading the core issues, which further confirms that you have no justifiable basis for your position. Your evasive tactics are so transparently obvious to any adult they're more sad than funny. (Only children and emotionally immature adults make excuses like that.) Answer the questions. Focus on the issues. Have you even read Wikipedia's core policies? Do you even know what they are? How old are you? 12?
Also, I just traced the edits of which you speak of. Two are yours. [4] [5] Two others are by User:TriiipleThreat. [6] [7]
I take no pleasure in this. I do not know and do not care how you were able to mistake Forbes Contributors for writers to Forbes magazine. If you actually care about building a better encyclopedia, then help fix the mess you created. Finding truly reliable sources is hard work. If you have the time to contribute to Wikipedia, then yes, you have the time to find them. Otherwise you may not be contributing much longer. --Coolcaesar (talk) 00:33, 21 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hollywood Reporter article has incorrect information

[edit]

The Hollywood Reporter article incorrectly says that The Hunger Games: Catching Fire broke the March opening weekend record. ″And it easily bested the $152.2 million debut of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire in March 2013 to boast the biggest pre-summer debut in history.″ [8] That is incorrect because that film was released in November of 2013. The record was previously held by the original Hunger Games film in March 2012. [9] We should use a source with accurate information like this one.[10] And1987 (talk) 18:23, 27 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Batman v Superman

[edit]

The Forbes article actually began as a piece about the abysmal Chinese haul in BO. He then extended it to North America. It was more than an aside or for color. The Forbes author included it as proof of a growing and disturbing trend (i.e. that this film may not have legs and might flop in the long term even if it is cleaning up in the short term -- think films like "The Hulk" or Burton's "Planet of the Apes", both had decent opening weekends but were considered flops by the end of their run,etc.).

As a compromise to avoid an edit war, I will let you keep your in depth edits and summarize mine with different language to respect the broader analysis and data. In simple terms, you can keep your separate contribution and you simply leave mine alone. Fair enough? Ghriscore (talk) 15:42, 28 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

We don't need to add informations like that unless it has a "commercial analysis" section like Avatar, Titanic, Frozen or Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Yes no doubt it's mentioned China. But if ur aware u came talk about China in the top secrion as any piece of information about the country's box office performance for a particular is written besides its own opening information. I have written box office information in wikipedia for the past 2 years and yes sometimes I do feel that there's a necessity that it should have its own secrion given how it's on pace to become the worlds biggest movie market by 2017 but that's a discussion for some other day. But of u noticed in articles like Transformers: Age of Extinction, Terminator Genisys, Kung Fu Panda 3 Zootopia, I've written the short analysis for the county in their respective section and i did not write them at the top or global section since it would be bias to mention only China or North America at the top. The overall performance at the top is only written on a consensus like "it became a box office bomb" or "... Became a box office blockbuster hit". We don't write specific country's performance. The US and Canada section deals with its subjects. And the rest of the country are dealt in the "Outside North America" section. So if u have two and half years of box office writing experience in Wikipedia u should know this. (User talk:Josephlalrinhlua786) 21:32, March 28, 2016 (UTC)

Information icon Please do not assume ownership of articles as you did at Captain America: Civil War. If you aren't willing to allow your contributions to be edited extensively or be redistributed by others, please do not submit them. Saying "please let me do all the box office edit part. I've added 100% information there. lemme handle that portion." as you did here sounds very much like you are claiming ownership as well as attempting to dictate the order of content as you did here. As you will see with my edits, here I have severely tidied up the section. Not only have I formatted the references like the others on the page, I have removed (especially in the international subsection) any non-substantial data points per WP:INDISCRIMINATE. So please consider discussing and presenting reasons why something should be added back if you feel as such, with me or others before OUTRIGHT reverting these whole changes (which I know you will given your edit history). Warcraft edit summary

[edit]

Hey there, Josephlalrinhlua786. In regards to your edit summary for this edit, I would advise you to watch your tone when writing up edit summaries. I reverted back to how it was previously worded for two reasons – firstly, it had been removed previously by another editor, so I assumed that it would have been removed for a good reason; secondly, I was going by the dictionary meaning for "domestic", referring to a single country (in this case, the United States, the country of the film's origin), rather than the box office term which refers to a specific group of countries. I will apologise, however, for not knowing about this term and reverting something that seemed obvious to certain editors such as yourself. I would also check out WP:ESDOS, as I would hate to see a repeat of this kind of incident over something as harmless as this. Thanks. 4TheWynne(talk)(contribs) 07:53, 5 June 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:53, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
In this edit on Aug 15th [11] you added "Multiple chariots were made for each character – some with brakes (though the horses are strong enough to overpower the brakes), some with room for a second "blind driver" or 'bonnet-fitted' camera, some with different-sized wheels for filming on the turns instead of the straights, some to flip over or crash." which is the exact same wording in the source.[12] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:54, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]
The next paragraph was "Massimo Pauletto, an art director on the film who built the chariots, says his team had to reinvent a forgotten skill.

"From the sketches, nobody was understanding how they could become real," he says. "The hardest part was to fit together our practical needs and the special-effects needs."[13] Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 22:56, 15 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Yes I'm sorry that I may have violated Wikipedia’s policy of copy write infringement and it's consequences. This is my public apology and do not wish to repeat the same mistake in my future contribution. It's just I'm too devoted to contribute that I tend to lose focus. For eg, since 2014 I've been editing every tentpole pic’s box office performance. I keep reading dozens of pages and articles every single day that I got caught up. I'm trying to avoid as much as possible red tapism. But in my defence, I wrote 80–90% of that Ben-Hur article and it just hurts my sentiments getting blocked by my misdeeds. I will still contribute. And write now I'm trying to write all the actual box office international performance of over 12 films this past weekend. You may say I'm bragging, yes I am because who would write estimates box office for 10+ films and then write the Actuals again every single weekend since 2014?!!!!. I am! So please I urge u to lift this blockage as I cannot avail putting down informations crucial to readers. Please.

Right now there is so many information to add (in Wiki) that I can't just sit back and let it all go away. Please don't debar me from contributing.

Decline reason:

There are three issues that you need to address:

  1. You have not sufficiently addressed the reason for your block. (What is your understanding of Wikipedia's copyright policy? Why does copying from an arbitrary website harm Wikipedia?)
  2. Your unblock request does not demonstrate sufficient competence in written English.
  3. I am extremely concerned about your failure to communicate with other editors and respond to constructive feedback.

Please explain, in your own words and in a new unblock request, how your editing will change. MER-C 12:56, 19 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

Now that I'm aware of the repercussions of violating Wikipedia’s pivotal policies and rules, I will adhere and abide to the guidelines more rigidly and make sure I do not violate them again. From now on I will be more thorough with the articles that I take up and read and give up my habit of copy-pasting informations that are there. I am now aware that violating Wiki’s policies will only beget to my loss. Hitherto, I had been somewhat careless. But with my future edits, I will ponder numerous times before-hand. I will be more meticulous about the informations I jot down from the sources and will venerate the polices more than ever before. I promise to be more careful now and let this be a reminder to me that Wikipedia is not a playground. I’VE LEARNED MY LESSON. Kindly please oblige me by lifting this embargo put upon me currently as I am severely exempted from editing and contributing to Wikipedia. With all these promises and changes I take oath to pursue, i wish I receive a positive reciprocation. Thank you.

Accept reason:

OK, you clearly accept that some of what you did was not good, and you have explained below why you did what you did, so, with the agreement of the blocking administrator, I will unblock you. You really must not copy content that might infringe copyright, even if you intend to edit it later so that it no longer does so. I would suggest keeping a copy on your computer, and posting it to Wikipedia only when it is ready, but if you edit on a phone that may not be realistic. In any case, please be careful to avoid making the same mistakes again, and bear in mind that if you are blocked again for the same reasons the likelihood of being unblocked will be lower. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 19:46, 21 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

OK, since you say that you will avoid the same problems in future that led to the block, I am willing to consider unblocking you. However, can you explain why you continued to do the same thing for so long? Since you ave received numerous messages about copyright from June 2014 onwards, and have already been blocked for a limited period for copyright infringement, you cannot have been unaware that what you were doing was unacceptable, yet you continued until you were indefinitely blocked. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 14:42, 20 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The first year of my contribution (2014) was a year of negligence and for some reason I have adopted and carried on that trait for the last two years now – albeit I'm more aware and reciprocative now. Yes, I did received numerous messages and warnings about violating Wiki’s policy but with each successive warnings, I try to tone down my level of copy-pasting materials. What I mean to say is not that I copy-paste informations just so I could get another warning. Sometimes I am fully aware that I do copy-paste some contents that I wish to truncate or enrich it later on but sometimes it's too late; I get blocked (and there's no one to blame here but me). I perform a bulk of my edits at night due to different time zones. And I mostly jot down informations at night so I could edit more carefully in the morning to suit Wiki’s policy and evade being warned. But most of the times I am too late, by the time it's morning sometimes I forget which lead me to all these blockage and warnings. There are certain other minor reasons too but they're too minute and ridiculous to disclose and discuss.
The other reason why I avoid or neglect such warnings and pay less attention to violating copyright issues is because I am too indulged in editing. I'm telling you, I spend just a fraction of my time in Wikipedia for my talk page or any other talk page for that matter. I hardly upload pictures and so I utilize a bulk of my time in Wiki in writing. So when I get a message or so I don't check them because I don't really get to touch my phone (editing via phone) everyday and like edit everyday. So when I finally get the opportunity to edit, I allocate about 99% of my time in writing down informations at the expense of avoiding/forgetting to open my talk page. I didn't realize that these would have serious repercussions. And you will realize that many a times I've been warned for quarreling or trying to pick a fight with other editors. Haha.
At the end of the day, you can't blame my apathetic nature but rather the time constraint and somewhat my negligent trait. I haven't even updated the actual box office numbers for last weekend’s international box office. So when people check those estimates, they'll be reading wrong informations (and Wikipedia is the last place that I want informations to be incorrect and no one is ready to take up such initiatives). And by tomorrow night, estimates will be reported again for domestic as well international box office (have to edit 10+ films every weekend). So please, If you can kindly undo the blockage so I can continue contributing, keeping in mind of course the essential oath that I took and the repercussions that will follow if I violate Wiki’s policy again. Thank you.

  • I see that you have received 45 disambiguation link notifications since June 2014. Linking to a disambiguation page is something which beginners do because they don't know any different, but once you have received a message about it you do know that it is something to be avoided, so you should not keep making the same mistake. It's very easy to avoid: whenever you edit a page, before saving the edit, click on "Show preview", and in the preview check what happens if you click on each link you are adding to the page. If any link turns out to link to an inappropriate target, then change the link before saving the page. Also, I checked a few of the disambiguation link notifications you have received, and in none of the cases that I checked did you go back to the article and correct the link. In future, if you do occasionally slip and link to a disambiguation page by mistake and receive one of these notifications, please do correct your mistake. Hello amigo. I know you and I have our disagreements on here and you often feel I target your edits but just wanna clear the air on that. I've gathered you're from India(?) and sometimes your grammar and wording is inaccurate or awkward, so when I change the way a sentence is phrased or the order something is listed, it's not with malicious intent but just to make it coherent and concise (not to say I'm a know it all but I do do entertainment journalism as a profession). You're very dedicated and informational about the box office things you post and I enjoy the content you share on here, I just try and take your edits and streamline them; no reason everyone can't benefit from our joint efforts. Regarding this edit summary - if you want to see who edited a particular part of article (and why!), just click the "View history" tab. As I say in the edit summary, a lengthy description of a character in the cast section goes against WP:CASTLIST - it's better to put this kind of detail in the Plot section (which at the time didn't mention the character's names or backgrounds at all). --McGeddon (talk) 12:18, 22 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Rajan51 how can i disrupt? I spent 3 sleepless night editing content and researching informations from about 100 sources and all you did was come in late at night and barge in to edit things to fit your opinion. I can understand if contribute to the article by cleaning the grammar or correcting details here and there. But I don't get it, you remove all the informations in a bulk, overseeing what you have done with the edits that doesn't need any edits at all and all these at the expense of your bias opinion. Rule that we should use crore? I've scolded dozens of Chinese editors for using only Chinese currency in their box office grosses. But with this I'm using both currency. You say international? – crore is indian and dollars is for the English speakers. How can we do both millions (rupees) and millions (US). That way how can international readers even know what our currency is. Being an Indian (and still abiding wiki policy) how can y overlook that. This is all just RED TAPISM. Last time I made a mistake in an edit writing “Bas on” rather than “based on”. I immediately corrected it pronto? And you know what u did? In the process of this “crore vs million” war, you reverted everything and when I read it it was back to “bas on”. I mean that clearly shows how blind you are in ur edits. You overlook small mistakes because you're too focused on the big ones unlike me that's striking a balance between both. And I'm using a phone!!! For days now!!! Editing, researching, writing, reading, memorizing, scrutinizing!! And what work did u do for this page? Just follow the old beaurocratic RED TAPISM formula. And now you threatened me of blocking me after 3 sleepless night and using ₹500 Just so readers can get a better insight information to this film. Wow! If that is what I get in return (i don't expect anything in return) than have it your way. These are instances and you are the type of people that de motivates me and kills me incentives to contribute to wikipedia. My goal was to make this page get the “good page” tag and u could've helped me just by helping me instead of threatening me. I just feel like there's no purpose to this anymore. An Indian to and Indian, a man to a man, an editor to an editor? This is his you treat people for their dedication, hard work and perseverance??? Great. Hello Josep,

What is the problem if the cast of M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story represent in tabular form if it is easy to read rather than making it as plain.

sdm2211 — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sdm2211 (talkcontribs) 07:56, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Josephlalrinhlua786
  • 10 Millions is preferred to 1 crore because it represents the International system. The use of putting both values and $ in billions is that people all around the World can know the box office gross in international currency and the respective value in the Indian currency. If International readers really want to know what our currency is, it is clear to them that it is the rupee() which is displayed almost everywhere across pages on India and India-related topics. Wikipedia is not a place for advertising to the International community about the Indian place value system.
  • My main intention was to remove unnecessary pre-release box office estimates and expectations, update reliable sources and change values in crores to millions. But unfortunately whenever I did this you reverted them and added even more content, which made it impossible to search for these particular details and revert them again and again. I apologize for that.
  • I appreciate the fact that you spent a lot of time in trying to get users to get better information, but the problem is that you add a lot of unnecessary things outside the norms for films, which had to be removed. Just because you spent a lot of time and money for contributing to Wikipedia doesn't make it that whatever you do is correct. Everyone makes mistakes and so do you, but the problem with you is that when people like me and Jdcomix correct your mistakes, you are not ready to accept it. Wikipedia is not just about adding content, it is about adding appropriate content for the users who access it. The way the article is right now, I can tell you with 100% surety that it will not get the good article status. Be open to corrections and do not revert them just like that.
  • So I would suggest for you to remove unnecessary pre-release box office estimates and expectations, convert values in crores to millions and add most trusted reliable sources like International Business Times and Forbes. I would remind you that if you do not remove these unnecessary things, then it would have to be removed by someone else. I hope that you make the right decision. More plagiarism

[edit]

Joseph, this bothers me because the phrasing you added is identical to phrasing found here. How much of M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story did you construct by copying/pasting from the sources? You've been blocked before for copyright violations, so I can't even begin to understand why you'd continue to copy content. You're not making the project stronger by cheating, you're making it weaker. There's no excuse for this. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 18:18, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Even worse, look at this edit followed by the three others that came after it, [14], [15], and [16], as well as the article referenced. Notice how Joseph changed or inserted words here or there in a semi-random fashion to disguise what is otherwise obvious plagiarism, such as adding the word "recent" to the mention of the original pilot for Game of Thrones, which doesn't make sense because Game of Thrones premiered over five years ago. --Coolcaesar (talk) 19:20, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content, as you did at Westworld (TV series). If you think there are good reasons why you should be unblocked, you may appeal this block by first reading the guide to appealing blocks, then adding the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:46, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Indefinite does not mean forever, but given that you've already been indeffed for copyright violations, and you have persisted to add content lifted verbatim (and closely paraphrased) from other sources, I have no choice but to block you for the foreseeable future until you can demonstrate to an unblocking admin's satisfaction that you understand why this is a major issue and what you'll do differently going forward. You're creating liabilities, not assets. I genuinely don't comprehend the thought process that makes it so easy for you to lazily copy from other sources. It's intellectually offensive. People lose their careers over this stuff, and any 8-year-old knows that copying is bad, so I don't understand why this is still a problem with you. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 19:56, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you. Unfortunately, it's going to take a long time to clean up Joseph's edits. For example, he repeatedly persisted in adding citations to Forbes Contributors to numerous WP articles, even after I and others kept pointing out that Forbes Contributors are not reliable sources---their articles are not subject to the regular editorial process at Forbes magazine. They're actually glorified personal blogs subject only to a contractual right to retract or disavow articles in the event that a Contributor goes rogue. --Coolcaesar (talk) 20:53, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
They were just warned about plagiarism and indeffed just a couple of months ago :-( Doc James (talk · contribs · email) 21:17, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Not going to appeal to unblock me. You can block me for as long as you want to. In the words of Taylor Swift – modified – 10 years from now I'm going to be like "back then I swore i was gonna appeal for my mistakes but I realize some bigger dreams in me". I don't know when I'll return to Wikipedia. Hopefully I will, to edit my fav articles – films. But for now I quit. In the words of Ryan Stone Gravity – "it was one hell of a ride". I'm kidding that's not what I really meant. Unblock me and I'll clean up my own mess. 100%. If not then block me again deal? I'm ready to repent here.

Ok here's what I'm going to do – right after u unblock me which I suggest now because 5 hours from how the power cut is going to start and the network will go plummit to a point where there will be no signal (since is Reliance), I will go to the article and – not revert – remove all the excessive informations that are deemed unnecessary like the stars in the reception and the overly long quotes and excessive details on the production section. If u find any trace of me violating any policy then block me immediately. So basically it's like home arrest. Keep me under constant watch and any false move by me would mean jail time and in the context of wiki – jail time I mean blockage. But mind you the crore and million is just a "preference" and not an "obligation" so don't inculcated that as we are strickly adhering here to plagiarism. So that's it. That's all I can do. I'm literally letting u put a gun to my back to invigilate me while I reap my own fruit that I sowed – not a tasty one here. Waiting for response. If u have any doubts like "but you'll go back to the same route of plagiarising" then y'all have the full authority to block me then (as u already do). Lemme mend the damage I've caused. RSVP.

No valid reason given to unblock. To be unblocked you need to explain to us your understanding of copyright policy as it applies within Wikipedia, and tell us why you ignored it. --Anthony Bradbury"talk" 16:08, 7 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

The first year of my contribution (2014) was a year of negligence – as aforementioned – and for some reason I have adopted and carried on that trait for the last three years now – albeit I'm more aware and reciprocative now that this is my second major blocking. Yes, I did received numerous messages and warnings about violating Wiki’s policy but with each successive warnings, I try to tone down my level of copy-pasting materials (but to no avail). I gave this similar release in my previous appeal since it's authentic and these are the only valid reasons I can provide. I'm not going to fake another reason just so I may evade another block. I understand that wikipedians lack camaraderie somehow and I respect that since it's a place to learn and contribute not love and loathe.

With M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story, I was more focused on expanding the page first and then move on to truncating it later. But everything got haywire in the middle. Had I been aware that a major was imminent, the I would have avoided and knelt down just like how the IMPPA bowed down to MNS for the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil.

At the end of the day, as aforesaid, you can't blame my apathetic nature but rather the time constraint and somewhat my negligent trait. So please, If you can kindly undo the blockage so I can continue contributing, keeping in mind of course the essential oath that I took and the repercussions that will follow if I violate Wiki’s policy again for the third and final time. Gracias. RSVP.

Did you see the part in your previous unblock decline where User:Anthony Bradbury told you you need to "explain to us your understanding of copyright policy as it applies within Wikipedia"? You have said nothing whatsoever about that. Your explanations of why you repeatedly broke copyright policy (and law) are a help, but we need to be sure that you fully understand Wikipedia's copyright policy and why it is so important, and we need to be sure that you understand why you must never insert any copyright material anywhere on Wikipedia, not even for one second. Request reason:

I think its safe to say that I should be unblocked by now. Because despite even being blocked, I was able to edit dozens of articles (especially the box office section that everyone considers trivial to pay attention to. That's my level of commitment. I mean check Inferno, Trolls and Jack Reacher: Never Go Back, I was the one that took the initiative to expand the box office section. Did I violate any wikipedia copyright policy? No (go check it). These three are just mild examples of the many articles I have contributed whilst I was blocked because I cannot live without editing wikipedia. Now you're gonna say "we need to see ur understanding of the policy" and all. But I tell u this: “Facta non Verba (In Deeds not Words). I may write down 100 of pages of how I understand and don't understand the policies. But my actions have now shown that I do venerate the policies all this months – actions speaks louder than words and talk to cheap. If you still insist on blocking me then go ahead I won't stop any one of you and won't plead again for another consideration. But I will not stop editing and contributing (keep in mind of how I did not violate any single policy ok my edits I made in the past weeks). If u want I can give you all the list of articles I have edited with another account just to prove that I have evolved over the days. I'm open to the verdict that is yet to be pronounced for the third and final time.

Decline reason:

Your best, final defense is to write "my actions have now shown that I do venerate the policies all this months" while violating said policies by evading your block? You are misguided on so many levels that there is no way unblocking you at this time would benefit the encyclopedia. Jezebel's Ponyobons mots 19:26, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

  • I reverted a lot of edits from 115.250.* IPs (eg. User:115.250.15.4) which were adding the kind of box office edits that Josephlalrinhlua786 had written in the past, I assume that's what he's talking about. Continuing to edit Wikipedia like this is WP:BLOCKEVASION - if you want to show that you're a good editor who understands policy and can write good content, you should discuss and illustrate this here, on your talk page, rather than in the main articles that the community has blocked you from editing. --McGeddon (talk) 12:15, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
  • I don't understand. Why would you revert it when it doesn't do any harm to anyone. Did it violate any policy? Did it contained any misinformation? Are the information bias? No! Please let go of this red-tapism. I'm trying my level best here to STILL persist on adding valid infos and accurate figures. I even confessed everything. And all i get in reply is 'ur evading this and that', 'i have reverted your edit' whaaaaaaaat?!!! NO ONE out of this 7 billion people in the world cared about adding the international portion of Infernos grosses in Wikipedia (excuse me for my language) but no one gave a shit. ANd here is a guy who does care and not only jotted down the estimates on Sunday morning but also waited till the actuals on Monday morning. I even went to the point where i emailed the writer of Deadline.com - Nancy Tartaglione -why she didn't reported actuals for the previous weekends. yiu may say im bragging, but i'd go to the ends of the earth to provide solid, accurate and genuine informations. But no one seems to care. I ask myself why you still care after this prolonged embargo and learning my lesson already. So please. I don't think so jotting down CORRECT informations. I don't wanna prove anything to anyone. Please please please forgo this notorious red-tapism and reconsider my plead because your're never gonna get box office contents like the ones in Jurassic World, Zootopia, Captain America: Civil War, The Secret Life of Pets, The Jungle Book, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Deadpool Suicide Squad and Furious 7 and hundreds more. Please. Josephlalrinhlua786 (talk) 12:15, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
From this talk page history, your box office additions in the past have had some problems with accuracy, and my own spot checks suggested that some of the numbers were slightly off. These articles may have been on watchlists of editors who would have thought to double-check a figure added by Josephlalrinhlua786, but you were deliberately avoiding this scrutiny by editing anonymously. This seemed enough to be one of the "ambiguous cases" of WP:BLOCKEVASION and enough reason to revert the content for now. --McGeddon (talk) 15:33, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I have a real problem with your cavalier attitude, Joseph. You lazily submit huge walls of stolen content to articles despite having been blocked for it before. You act like it's not a big deal, you even copy/paste an unblock request from text you wrote earlier, as if it's too much of a burden to have a new set of thoughts. Then you flaunt your ability to evade your block by editing while logged out? I can't even imagine how you think you're helping. I'll take one editor with integrity who makes small quality edits over a long period of time over someone who burns through articles making lazy "mistakes". And let's be clear about this, I don't consider gross copyright violations to be mistakes. Nobody pastes full paragraphs into articles "mistakenly" thinking they're going to extract the copyright violations later. That makes no sense, and that's exactly what you've done. It's like taking clothes out of Walmart without paying over dozens of occasions, then when you get busted for shoplifting, arguing that it was merely an oversight all those times, and you had every intention of making good. Then, when you get asked not to return to Walmart, you come back in disguise, make a few purchases and then posture as though you've reformed. "You're missing the point, man. You're not welcome at Walmart. We don't trust you." That's the point. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 16:01, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I'm peeved by how you have completely overlooked my last statement about how despite being blocked I have (yes) evaded and made few contributions that were free of violating any policy. The whole reason of this blockage was because I simply copy paste existing materials. I don't do that again. Where’s the proof? (humans are always like “believing is seeing” why can’t they be more like “seeing is believing) – the proof are in my edits that I've made while I was block. For once, just for once, concentrate on how I have surpassed that infamous habit of copy-pasting (isn't that the prime reason for this embargo?). Yes I made a few figure mistakes (as pointed out by one of your colleague) because what the company reports, what the box office trackers in those countries reports varies sometimes. Lemme give you an example – the final box office figures for Transformers: Age of Extinction in China is argued between the Paramount Pictures reported $301 million and local data (especially Ent Group’s claim) that rises upto $320 million. Even in the US itself, the opening weekend number was $100 million (according to Paramount) while Rentrak (now comcast) reported $97 million. The other problem is in the UK, The Guardians figures are always different from what studios’ claim. Moreover, this is also similar with other markets like Japan, Korea, Italy, Germany and India and many other. But in all cases, I meticulously jot all figures from both local claims to studio reported. Who does that? I joined Wikipedia from 2014 and ever since my first edit in Age of Extinction I have followed this trend. You can go and check. Because I don't wanna be bias (which administrator admires this effort in wiki? NO ONE). Prior to 2014, all those opening and overall grosses for Hollywood movies in China are basically chosen from either studio reports of local claims (no consensus derived here). Any administrator cares on eliminating this so readers don't swallow incorrect infos? No ONE. I feel like sometimes Wikipedia is more like the UN Security Council (and General Assembly) that has been so politicized and merciless and should be more like the four main specialized agencies. I have wrote down I won't make the mistake again, proved I haven't for the past month, yet, still blocked. If you have any qualm over my future edits than I tell you what that Father told Superman in Man of Steel – “you have to take the leap of faith and the trust part comes second”. When I say leap of faith it basically means give me a third and final chance. I'm wearing my heart on my sleeves and swallowing my pride saying all these. I mean I would discuss with you over at a dinner table but that's inconceivable. It's not easy to stoop so low for a mistake you know would cost you big loss if u repeat it again. I just don't see how u don't see that. Just unblock me, spy me for the rest of my wikipedia life and just block me forever perhaps this time. Notice that I even confessed I've been editing (despite being blocked) because I am taking this seriously, I want no secrets, everything out in the open and on the table. No hiding behind the bush. Please take the leap of faith. I won't even say leap of faith, I say leap of assurance.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Josephlalrinhlua786 (talkcontribs) 17:55, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
From my perspective, the leap of faith took place on 21 August 2016 when you were unblocked on the assurance that you wouldn't commit copyright violations. After that, you committed copious copyright violations at M.S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and in other articles. These are not "mistakes". These are deliberate decisions that have lasting impact on the encyclopedia, and that require cleanup. We do not reward people who evade their blocks by restoring their editing privileges. And frankly, based on how prolific you were with the copyright violations, I can't help but wonder if you were not a WP:PAID editor, which you would have been required to disclose. A person with academic interests is far less likely to take such grotesque shortcuts than someone who has a financial incentive to edit as furiously as he can. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:16, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ya that's why they say “third times the charm”. Ive told u I'm ready to make amends and.. Oh forget it. I'm tired of convincing, trying to make assurance. None of the adversities here are dealt with a broad perspective and a pinch of faith. Allegations after allegations and accusations after accusations thrown at me. Nothing like “ok lemme give u a chance, if you mess up, you're gone forever.” Replies are more like “you're this, you're that.” “See this, see that.” Ive grown tired, so tired. Even after telling dozens of times I won't commit the same mistake again in the future and if I do block me to infinity and beyond, no consensus is in the horizon. The moment I'm like “I....” I get like “you're a thief at Walmart” whaaaaaaat!!!!!!! You have your valid points of how I have been ignorant and act like a stubborn child despite piles of red warnings and two block that have been pasted on my face, while I too am not justiciable in my claims of perseverance, dedication, commitment and hardwork. The winner takes it all, the loser has to fall. You're the administrator so you have the final verdict. YES or NO. Please, no more arguments and negotiations. Like I said, this will be my third and final plead. I wish that you rebuke the block but I'm fine with whatever your final decision is. If yes then a small statement to support that and vis-a-vis to the no answer as well. Good day.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Josephlalrinhlua786 (talkcontribs) 18:35, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I apologize for not minding my own business here, but I recently added the article "Forever Country" to my watchlist and the bulk of it was added by this user. However, after simply spot-checking the sources, quite a few of them have been copied and pasted from the article (and some of them have a few extra words added here and there) without proper referencing. This user must realize that he is plagiarizing from several sources and even violating his indefinite block by continual edits to the article mentioned above. The article I discussed needs so much work to rebuke all of the plagiarism that it seems overwhelming. I truly don't think "its safe to say that [he] should be unblocked". Just wanted to get my thoughts out there as an outsider. Regards, Carbrera (talk) 23:48, 26 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I fully concur that the foregoing discussion shows that User:Josephlalrinhlua786 has failed to comprehend the severity of his copyright violations or why they endanger the viability of the encyclopedia. What User:Josephlalrinhlua786 fails to understand is that if you can't put in the time to get your edits right (including ensuring that edits merely restate relevant facts from cited sources without plagiarizing them), then don't submit them at all. The indefinite block should stand. --Coolcaesar (talk) 00:25, 27 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I would just like to add, as a user who has followed Joseph's edits, though they were blocked for copy/pasting copy-right violation, the comments they have made just above bring back my thoughts to this user that they have a serious WP:OWN problem with working on film article's box office sections. Please see the relevant ANI discussion I opened on them regarding this (as they have continued to demonstrate with the comments above saying certain film sections were all him and his edits). Just wanted to add that into the mix for my thoughts on also feeling the indefinite block should stand, and now if they are evading it by SOCKing/IP editing, that should also be taken care of. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 03:31, 28 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, this editor is today continuing to restore this box office content to Wikipedia from 115.250.* IP addresses (eg. User:115.250.78.102, User:115.250.5.191) rather than requesting an unblock. --McGeddon (talk) 15:48, 30 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
McGeddon can't u see how many request I've made to unblock me despite assuring I would never do again. I've swallowed my pride wore my heart on my sleeves and there's no mercy shown upon me. Thank God our Lord Jesus is not like that or else we'd all he burning in all right now. I told u this would be my last plead. It's enough I've done all I can think of, chase down all my demons, I see you do the same. And please lemme edit em. Forget block evasion. Am I writing Mahatma Gandhi is still alive today? Am I saying Hitlar was killed by a dog bite? NO. PLEASE LET GO OF RED TAPISM. All the time policy policy. Rules rules. Much like the ICJ, no one respects international law. Hardly any cases are brought up to the ICJ, just once or twice maybe and that too trivial ones. Much like that don't give toooo much emphasis on rules. I am not writing any wrong information, I'm not misleading people with my agenda nor am I copy pasting anymore (PLEASE NOT ANOTHER EVADE THING). Sometimes I wish I would delete all these accounts and history and staRt off fresh which is what I'm trying to convince all these administrators. But it's like conversating with a corpse, I'm given no chances no mercy. Yet, I STILL WANT TO HELP AND CONTRIBUTE. I don't want any applause or be venerated. I just want a chance, a chance that is too much to ask and be given. That's why I gave up and pleading. So please don't revert again and again . It's not an easy job collecting informations from dozen of sources and writing them down. It's easy to delete existing infos everyone can do that. So please unless I'm writing nutty things like “The world ended yesterday” don't revert and please spare me the evade thing – let go of red-tapism (don't be a bureaucrat). User:Josephlalrinhlia786 —Preceding undated comment added 09:54, 31 October 2016‎

If you fully understand the copyright issues with your past edits and are now ready to edit articles without making the same mistakes again, that's great. You should request an unblock on those grounds. Your decision not to do this - and to instead make block-evading edits without reassuring anyone at Wikipedia that you care about or even understand your past copyright problems - is more than enough reason for your continued IP edits to be reverted per WP:BLOCKEVASION. The more you evade your block (like this, this morning), the more you're showing that you don't respect fundamental Wikipedia policy, and the more convincing any admin will need before unblocking you. --McGeddon (talk) 10:46, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Since you don't seem to be making obvious efforts to getting unblocked, and none of your previous requests have really addressed the fundamental issue (which is "do not steal other people's work), I'm turning your talk page access off. You will have to request an unblock via the Unblock Ticket Request System. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 11:40, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Adding onto this comment, I want to make it clear to Joseph that per WP:REVERTBAN any edit that can be attributed to you while you are blocked may be reverted by any editor without regard for 3RR or for whether or not your edit was constructive. Any article you might create can be deleted. So long as you show disregard for established policies including WP:SOCKPUPPETRY, you will not be welcome to edit here. Consider taking the standard offer, because the sooner you stop editing, the sooner you could conceivably be welcomed back. (Some restrictions may apply.) If you continue to evade your block, you will only prolong any possibility of an unblock, and you will make the community far less likely to agree to unblock you. Remember that Wikipedia belongs to the Wikimedia Foundation, not to Josephlalrinhlua786. Cyphoidbomb (talk) 12:37, 31 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Josephlalrinhlua786, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

ArbCom Elections 2016: Voting now open!

[edit]

Hello, Josephlalrinhlua786. Voting in the 2016 Arbitration Committee elections is open from Monday, 00:00, 21 November through Sunday, 23:59, 4 December to all unblocked users who have registered an account before Wednesday, 00:00, 28 October 2016 and have made at least 150 mainspace edits before Sunday, 00:00, 1 November 2016.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2016 election, please review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 22:08, 21 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Answer to your email

[edit]

I have read your email. I do have sympathy with you over your difficulty with staying away from Wikipedia. However, I see that you had been receiving messages informing you about the problems with your editing from the summer of 2012 onwards, but you ignored those warnings for year after year, and just kept creating new accounts. I also see that as recently as last month you were not only evading your block by creating several sockpuppets, but you also lied about dong so, saying "I don't even have a single idea why i'm blocked. I'm being accused of a false sockpuppet puppet or something. I'm new to Wikipedia." Only now that you have found that several of your sockpuppet accounts have been blocked within a very short time have you suddenly come up with the "I'm terribly sorry, and I won't do it again" line. Why should we believe that someone with a history of deliberate deception and lies over a period of nearly five years, continuing right up to a few weeks ago, has suddenly had a change of heart now?

Under the circumstances, I think that the standard offer, allowing you to request an unblock after six months since the last time you edited (including dishonest edits by using sockpuppets) is more than generous enough for you.

Also, you tell me that you once created an account just to apologise, without making any other edits. However, no account that did that is included in the lists of your known sockpuppets, nor can I find the apology edit you made in the editing history of the talk page where you said you put it, nor can I find any record of a block on an account fitting your description in the block log of the administrator who you said blocked that sockpuppet. If you do request an unblock six months or more after your last sockpuppetry, please state what the user name of that account was, as it is not very likely that you will be unblocked as long as it is known that there are still one or more sockpuppets that you haven't revealed the identity of.

One more point. Unless there are special reasons which make it reasonable to make an exception, any unblock request should be made from your original account. You clearly still have access to that account, as you used the account three days ago to send an email. The editor who uses the pseudonym "JamesBWatson" (talk) 12:23, 31 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hello, "Joseph". I see that you have decided that instead of taking up the standard offer, you will just keep evading your block, thereby making sure that your accounts are never unblocked. We will do what we can to minimise how much you are able to do, including reverting your edits, blocking IP ranges you use, and protecting articles you edit. However, protecting articles will cause inconvenience for legitimate editors, as well as you, so please don't make it necessary. If they don't acknowledge why they were blocked and write a convincing unblock request, tell them to wait 6 months to a year and take the Standard Offer. Ritchie333 (talk) (cont) 13:24, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
@Ferret: Thanks for telling me about the emailing of multiple administrators. In fact, in view of the editor's history, and the wording of the email to me, I expected as much. I have removed email access.
@Ritchie333: The editor has already been told more than once that the standard offer is the one possible way to have the block removed, so I don't think he needs to keep on being told. I actually think that the standard offer is more than he deserves.
Joseph, The more you try to get out of your block by such methods as sockpuppetry, block evasion by editing without logging in, admin shopping by posting emails to numerous different administrators, etc etc, the less likely that any administrator will ever decide to unblock you. As I have already said, the standard offer is more than generous enough for you. It is not certain that you will be blocked if you take that route, but it is certain that you won't be unblocked if you don't. Josephlalrinhlua786, I received your e-mail. Having read through your history of multiple violations, and your persistent repetition of those violations, I see nothing to give me confidence that you can follow Wikipedia rules and guidelines. (In fact, you weren't even able to follow the first guideline of WP:Standard offer to "wait six months.") Therefore I am declining your request for the Standard Offer. The user has demonstrated an obnoxiously cavalier attitude, acting as though he has a right to edit at Wikipedia, when in fact he does not. He even had a cavalier attitude about the copyright violations for which he'd previously been blocked. He has violated community policy by engaging in sockpuppetry, then used that behavior as proof that he's capable of following community policy. "Look, while I was engaging in sockpuppetry, I didn't commit any copyright violations, so you have to unblock me now." Ridiculous. The admin-shopping is just further evidence of the cavalier attitude, which is not compatible with community editing. Joseph will need to demonstrate that he can adhere to community policy, and part of that demonstration will need to include a 6-month absence from Wikipedia. And a more humble attitude would be a refreshing change after that 6-month absence. Also, isn't Joseph Fanai the older account? Cyphoidbomb (talk) 17:43, 6 February 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I have read the abusive email you sent me recently. I will not waste time responding to all the nonsense you posted in it, but I will respond to just one point. For some reason you think that I accused you of lying about creating an account for the purpose of apologising. In fact, I never accused you of lying about that. On the contrary, I believed that you had created the account, but I couldn't find what account it was, so I asked you to say what account it was. I have no idea why you would think that was accusing you of lying. I have removed email access from all the accounts that I know of that you have used. I should think that by now you have reduced the likelihood that you will ever be blocked to something close to zero, but the slight chance that it will ever happen depends on your going for a considerable time without evading your block, without sending abusive messages to anyone by any method, and on your eventually making an unblock request that actually addresses the reasons for the block and for the successive rejections of requests to be unblocked, and also telling us of any other accounts you have used that we don't know about, including the one you created just to apologise.

Finally, since you posted your latest abusive email directly to my email account, not via Wikipedia's email service, I have added you to my email blacklist, so that I will not see any more emails you may send. Non-free rationale for File:Alexis Killacam with friends.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Alexis Killacam with friends.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. clpo13(talk) 16:54, 16 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]
