Fair use rationale for Image:Hsinpei.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Hsinpei.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Orphaned non-free media (Image:Hsinpei.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Hsinpei.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 04:38, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Marathon23.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Marathon23.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 04:25, 7 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:122152536.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 12:35, 25 December 2007 (UTC). A tag has been placed on Mac is back, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the page appears to have no meaningful content or history, and the text is unsalvageably incoherent.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the page's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.

If the page you created was a test, please use the sandbox for any other experiments you would like to do. Feel free to leave a message on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Corvus cornixtalk 22:01, 5 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for uploading Image:ILikeIke too.png. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. Re: CKS Memorial Hall

[edit]

Since the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall is currently the official name of the former CKS Memorial Hall, we should try to keep it official and change the names accordingly. About the expected reversion, since it is EXPECTED, but not OFFICIAL yet, we should keep it as the Taiwan Democracy Memorial Hall UNTIL an OFFICIAL name change. Agreed; placing the template on Ed Rendell in its current form just doesn't work; he comes immediately after the Vice President ONLY while he's inside Pennsylvania. Outside Pennsylvania, he comes after all Senators and the Governor of Delaware, if memory serves. Unless the template is adjusted to reflect this, it really doesn't work for Governors and Mayors. Tenzin Gyatso image caption

[edit]

Hi Iamwisesun. Just curious as to the case for removing the caption to the Gyatso opening pic. I altered it a day or two back in order to eliminate obvious redundancy (i.e. the existing caption merely repeated the infobox line immediately above it).

A good caption meets certain key criteria: 1) Enhances, as does a sound effect on a piece of film footage, the impact of the image in question: both by drawing attention to image details otherwise missable at a conscious level, and by the succinct addition of image-relevant information. 2) Is limited to a character-count that fits the image width and 3) in the case of Wikipedia, is neutral.

I am paid good money to caption photographs. Seemed to me my caption complied with the above criteria. Have accordingly reverted. Would be grateful, though, to hear your view. Regards Wingspeed (talk) 16:39, 26 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Steven Chu page

[edit]

If you wish to add a Chinese name spelling to Steven Chu's webpage or any English Wikipedia page, you must demonstrate one of the following criteria to satisfy Wikipedia guidelines:
1) Nationality- the alternate name/spelling represents the native usage in the persons country of birth or citizenship (not the case with Chu)
2) Legal Use- the alternate name/spelling constitutes a past or present legal name used by the person described, with citations needed (not the case with Chu)
3) Common Personal use- the alternate name/spelling is commonly used by the person in English language publications or official correspondence/letterhead , citations needed (not the case with Chu)

If you continue to make foreign-name alterations without citations that satisfy these guidelines, these edits may constitute vandalism.

It actually began in the Joe Biden article; someone enlarged the photo so that the title could fit into one line, not two, like in the Senator infoboxes.Iamwisesun (talk) 04:45, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, I see. Well I do not think there is much we can do to correct that. I don't really think it is that big of a problem and something we really need to worry about. The problem with increasing the image size is that, just like auburnpilot said above, it can cause issues with viewing and with the page load time. Racist vandalism spree

[edit]

Hey, just saw you took care of the vandalism here. I had gone to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism to see if there could be a block and if there's some sort of bot to undo this vandal's spree throughout apparently dozens of articles. I've just reverted two, one at Joe Biden and another at Robert Byrd. You seem to have been involved in some other vandalism issues on your talk page, do you know how quickly something like a block and a wholesale revert can get done? Thanks, Abrazame (talk) 06:53, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, by "here", I meant the Barack Obama article. Abrazame (talk) 06:53, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
No need to respond, it's already been taken care of. They ought to get a bot that can undo the edits of someone involved in such wholesale and boldfaced vandalism, but this was apparently fixed by an individual administrator. Abrazame (talk) 07:12, 27 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I notice that this category you created is unpopulated (empty). In other words, no Wikipedia pages belong to it. If it remains unpopulated for four days, it may be deleted, without discussion, in accordance with Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#C1. I'm notifying you in case you wish to (re-)populate it by adding [[Category:Jeopardy! tournaments]] to articles/subcategories that belong in it.

I blanked the category page. This will not, in itself, cause the category to be deleted. It serves to document (in the page history) that the category was empty at the time of blanking and also to alert other watchers that the category is in jeopardy. You are welcome to revert the blanking if you wish. However, doing so will not prevent deletion if the category remains empty.

If you created the category in error, or it is no longer needed, you can speed up the deletion process by tagging it with {{db-author}}.

I am a human being, not a bot, so you can contact me if you have questions about this. Best regards, --Stepheng3 (talk) 17:42, 9 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I have undone your recent edit to Joe Biden. I would like to WP:AGF about the edit, but it looks like vandalism to me. If you want to real reason why Joe cited for staying for his 7th term you can read what his spokeswoman said to ABC. "The timing on his resignation had multiple aspects," Biden's spokespereson continued. "First, after 36 years in the Senate, he had a good amount of wind down and transition to do in his Senate office. Second, he very much wanted to take the oath of office as Delaware's first seven term Senator, as the person chosen by the people of Delaware -- just as Vice President Elect Johnson took the oath of office after he was reelected to the Senate in 1960. And third, he wanted to finish his work as Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee, which includes this trip." [3]. Nothing about family finances. [edit]

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give Carmen "Nuch" Trutanich a different title by copying its content and pasting it into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other articles that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you.
This talk page is becoming very long. Please consider archiving. Beeblebrox (talk) 18:38, 21 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. [edit]

Hello Iamwisesun,

I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Presidential portrait for deletion, because it seems to be inappropriate for a variety of reasons.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Mr RD 16:15, 19 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Political scandals in the Republic of China indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read!
