S.L. Benfica sections

[edit]

Why did you change {{S.L. Benfica sections}}? SLBedit (talk) 03:09, 3 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk

[edit]

The club is consistently referred to as "Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk" throughout the article. You can't just change one instance, it needs to be the same throughout. – PeeJay 20:45, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

That's irrelevant. Wikipedia as a whole has made a decision to refer to the club as Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk. If you want to change that, you need to do it on a larger scale than just one article. – PeeJay 20:46, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Only in the match summary, and only after the first mention. In all the prominent mentions, the club is called "Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk". – PeeJay 20:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at 2011 Copa América. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Templates

[edit]

Who says that? Is there a wikipedia rule that obliges us to use a white space in every club's template? I don't think so. Moreover, there can be no confusion whatosever between a banner with stripes and the club's official emblem. It's perfectly legit, commensurate with the club's colours and aesthetically suitable.Gtrbolivar (talk) 16:12, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Misunderstanding

[edit]

I believe you didn't get it. You are right, fake sports flags shouldn't be used in clubs' articles. But the file I use, the red and white stripes file, ISN'T A FAKE SPORTS FLAG. It's simply a free image of red and white stripes, perfectly suitable for usage in any template. The file is my own work, it's a mere image of red and white stripes. I repeat: it isn't a fake sports flag, it's a free image that doesn't fall within any restriction whatsoever. Gtrbolivar (talk) 16:26, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It's not a fake sports flag nor a logo. It's a free image of red and white stripes that can be used anywhere, including templates. There isn't a single wikipedia rule or restriction that forbids editors to use a free image in templates. It's 100% legit and within wikipedia rules. The files that have some kind of restriction, such as the fake sports flags, have a specific label in the summary and licence paragraph that explicitly warns every editor of their usage restrictions. Gtrbolivar (talk) 17:09, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Man seriously, I appreciate the job you've done in wikipedia and especially when it comes to templates. You've spent a lot of time to improve wiki and you have my respect for your contributions. But I really can't possibly understand what is the matter here. I explained you that this image is totally free of all restrictions and every editor is free to use it wherever he likes, including templates. You were right about the fake sports flag status and I respected it. But I cannot understand all this fuss about it now. Gtrbolivar (talk) 17:21, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make the case to the admins because it's perfectly clear that we can't understand each other. You said (quote): "Fake flags or other files are subjective. Anyone can make a file for Olympiacos and other clubs but that file can't used everywhere in wikipedia(...). Only in the sports articles who referenced Olympiacos, at 20px. That is a note to wikipedians." I didn't quite understand what you're suggesting here, but in any case I feel that you're constantly repeating the same arguments over and over again. I'll ask the admins about this issue and they will give us their ruling. Gtrbolivar (talk) 18:37, 18 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Wikitable

[edit]

Wikitable: As you can see here Real Madrid C.F.#Kit manufacturers and shirt sponsors we can use a colour befitting the club's colours in the wikitable. I didn't really understand why you changed it mentioning the word "wikitable" in your edit's summary but I'll use red in Olympiacos article. Gtrbolivar (talk) 18:44, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Of course it's not enough. I am free to use the red colour, as the blue colour is being used Real Madrid C.F.#Kit manufacturers and shirt sponsors or other colours elsewhere. It's perfectly legit. I am not going to ask for your permission obviously. If you have objections, ask the admins.
As far as the templates are concerned, the admin said that the red and white stripes file was free and that we can use it in any template we see fit. I didn't press the issue because I don't have unlimited time to discuss such matters indefinitely. I saw that you deleted the file from the template and you removed the "Club" section. I really cannot understand what's the big deal and why you're pressing such matters of no real importance with such fanaticism, especially when it's perfectly obvious that you're 100% wrong. Anyway I don't have the time, nor the mood to continue that kind of "dialogue" with you regarding every possible little detail about templates, colours etc. The next time you undo my edits for no good reason, I'll be asking directly the admins to solve the issue. They'll decide who's wrong and who's right, without us having to spend hour after hour to discuss these "issues". Gtrbolivar (talk) 20:36, 25 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Ok. I saw the site of pas giannina and the crest of the team seemed to me more close to the emblem you uploaded anyway Apart from that, take a look if you like to this kit of Panathinaikos (Ι think is from 2005-06 season). Its a different quality, more deep green (close to "petrol") and spangly. Could you make a try creating sthing similar?

If you edit every single national football team article, make sure your change is desired

[edit]

I see that you just changed the player tables of every single NFT article, taking the custom colors out so that the template's default light blue is back. Why is light blue so much better than the national team's "theme color" though? It's only what the template creator thought looked good; it's not a Wikipedia standard or anything, that would be light grey.

Several people have already reverted your change, others will likely only do that after a few days since they won't be noticed as quickly. In any case, it's too bad that you wasted so much time making changes that aren't desired. If you are convinced player tables should not have themed colors, then first discuss this on for example WP:FOOTY's talk page, and then link to that discussion when you make the changes. That way you can be sure it's a desired change, and people will be less likely to revert it. Right now, it comes across as a very individual choice, trying to go against each article's regular editors. Sygmoral (talk) 16:49, 10 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Japan Football Association logo.png has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Decorative use of a non-free former logo which fails WP:NFCC#8. While non-free logos of organizations, etc. are generally allowed to be uploaded and used for primary identification in articles about the organization they represent, the use of former logos requires that the logo itself be the subject of sourced critical commentary in the article to provide the context required by WP:NFCC#8. Simply moving the old logo to another part of the article and assuming the justification for non-free use is going to be the same is not really a valid type of non-free use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
