Sorry, but we don't allow corporate/group accounts here

[edit]
Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy. It also appears that your account is intended to be used for the purpose of telling the world about an organization or cause that you consider worthwhile. Unfortunately, many good causes are not sufficiently notable for their own Wikipedia article, and all users are discouraged from editing in any area where they have an inherent conflict of interest. You may wish to consider one of these alternative outlets.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you.

Request reason:

My name is John M. Brewer. I am the owner and publisher of The Examiner newspaper in Hugo, Oklahoma. I also sit on the Choctaw County Development Authority. In that capacity, I serve as the chairman of the website committee. CivicPlus, who is helping us design our new Choctaw County website instructed us to get on Wikipedia, create a user account and add the official city/county website to the external links portion of all things that relate to the City of Hugo, Oklahoma or the County of Choctaw, Oklahoma. That's exactly what I did. So you are officially informing us that our official city and county website is not allowed on Wikipedia because you don't like the username I chose? 2602:30A:2E8A:2610:129A:DDFF:FE65:C8E0 (talk) 14:11, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Decline reason:

No. We're telling you that you can't use that name. Never mind what CivivPlus say (whoever they are...), Wikipedia is not a directory or a collection of links. The link to the official site of Hugo or Choctaw may be added to External Links - if it is relevant to the article concerned. To be honest, I can't see it adding much to the article about Grant. External links are supposed to be sources of additional information, and apart from the City Ordinances of Hugo, I can't see much info there at all. Your additions haven't been reverted yet, though. I would advise you, when you request a new name, to put something on your user page declaring your conflict of interest WP:COI. In the encyclopaedic tradition, editors are supposed to be neutral. We do allow editors with close interest in their subject so long as they edit neutrally, and we prefer to have a declaration if possible. Peridon (talk) 14:41, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Please note

I will change my user info to better accommodate Wikipedia's policies. CivicPlus is one of the nation's largest website design contractors for municipalities and counties. I personally added an external link to Choctaw County, Oklahoma; Grant, Oklahoma; Hugo, Oklahoma; Fort Towson, Oklahoma; and Boswell, Oklahoma. The external link is to the official website of Choctaw County. It is not finished yet because we lost our Economic Development Director. We are picking up those pieces. Ciara Wood-Coyan from CivicPlus (in Manhattan, Kanasas---telephone 888-228-2233 x234) told us to add the website as an external link to each and every thing we could find on Wikipedia. Hence, I did so personally, as the website is paid for and maintained with public tax dollars. We appreciate your help, and will continue to value your assistance. If you can guide us in the proper direction on all matters Wikipedia, we would appreciate it. You may email me directly at JohnBrewer@ExaminerNewspaper.net at any time. Oh, and Grant, Oklahoma is a community that is in Choctaw County (approx. 5 miles south of the county seat of Hugo) and is home to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma's third largest Choctaw Casino & Resort.

OK. Choose a new user name not connected with Hugo or Choctaw. You can use your name (I don't recommend it...), or call yourself Herbert Twinkle, Spaceman47859 or whatever. You can't have Victor (pun) because someone's already got it. Also not allowed would be a position name (like Chairman.Hugo) because accounts here are personal not company or position. One person only per account, and usually one account per person. Some do have alternative accounts for editing from unsecured networks, public wifi and so on. BTW please sign at the end of talk page posts with ~~~~ which puts your sig and the datestamp on, and put new posts below ones already there. Some places work at the top, we work at the bottom. To indent a post, type : at the start of the first line (like I did with this post). I can't see any problems with adding your official site when you're changed. It's not a promo thing, unlike some. When you think of a name, put it in the other template (the unblock-un... one) and click Preview. You can then click the availability checker thing that you'll see, and try again until you get one that's not already registered. Odd names are OK - we've got a 'Boing| said Zebedee' who is or was an admin and many other stranger than that. Peridon (talk) 16:57, 3 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
