D.A. Waite
A {{prod}} template has been added to the article D.A. Waite, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but the article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice explains why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may contest the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page. Also, please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. DC Meetup notice
Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians_in_Delaware, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices \(like this one\), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page.--Gmaxwell 22:11, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia Questions
Hi,
I am an Assistant Professor of Information Systems at Boston College, and I am researching the development of the Wikipedia article on the Virginia Tech Massacre. You were among the top 2% of editors for that article, and I was wondering if you’d be willing to answer a few questions by email. Please also indicate at the bottom if you’d be willing to participate in a short follow-up phone/Skype interview as well.
All of your responses and your participation will be confidential. Please cut and paste the below questions and respond by email to gerald.kane@bc.edu to ensure confidentiality.
I appreciate your help on this project, and please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions. Please also let me know if you are interested in receiving a copy of the paper when it is finished.
Thank You, Gerald C (Jerry) Kane, Ph.D. Assistant Professor of Information Systems Carroll School of Management Boston College 140 Commonwealth Ave 326 Fulton Hall Chestnut Hill, MA 02478
Questions:
1) On average, how many hours per week do you spend editing articles on Wikipedia?
2) Why do you contribute your time and energy to developing Wikipedia articles?
3) What types of articles to which do you typically contribute?
4) Why did you choose to become involved in the Wikipedia article on the Virginia Tech Massacre?
5) What was your primary role in the process of creating the article on the Virginia Tech Massacre (e.g. copy editing, fighting vandalism, contributing news, managing a particular section, etc?)
6) How was your experience with this article similar to or different than other Wikipedia articles to which you have contributed?
7) What were some of the most challenging issues facing the successful development of this particular article on the Virginia Tech Massacre?
8) What do you think were some of the primary reasons that this article was successful (i.e. cited in the press, nominated as a “featured article.”)
9) Is there anything else I should know about the Wikipedia article on the VT massacre?
10) Would you be willing to participate in a short phone/Skype interview to talk more about your experience with the article (if yes, I will follow up later by email to arrange it).
Re: Unprotect List of victims of the Virginia Tech massacre
It has been more than three weeks since the last edit, comment, or request on this page. I think it's safe to remove the protection now. HokieRNB 14:49, 27 July 2007 (UTC)
- I'm not convinced that any consensus was achieved over the article. My concern is that edit warring will commence again if the article is unprotected. --bainer (talk) 02:01, 28 July 2007 (UTC)
VT Massacre/Shooting[s]
I just wanted to note that, while I think he (?) regularly makes good points, and while what he says here has crossed my mind, I currently don't see any reason to agree with Titanium's claim that you're "too close" to this event to "get it," i.e., to see the sensationalism and bias in using "massacre." The recent discussion has been fairly civil (I have perused previous debates on this), and I would like it to remain that way; I think it would be much more constructive for all involved.
So, I'm not going to do something as rude as coach someone here -- hell, I haven't exactly been here that long -- but hopefully Titanium's claim can be dismissed civilly and we could move on? I just thought it would be important to say that here, since the first personal accusation has been directed at you. Maxisdetermined 16:21, 5 August 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:PBU.png
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:PBU.png. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Esrever 02:38, 6 August 2007 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:General.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:General.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI 22:30, 24 August 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (Image:Office.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Office.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 05:29, 11 September 2007 (UTC)
Colorized stats
You and I were involved in debate on how to properly represent Barry Bonds' statistical accomplishments. User:StormXor and I worked together to come up with a pretty good colorization scheme in the presence of heavy editorial activity in the weeks immediately after 756. Because you were involved in the debates on addressing statistical accomplishments around this time, I sort of felt you had ratified what we did or were at least in agreement. Now, there is a move afoot to uncolorize Bonds. Your opinion is needed at Talk:Barry_Bonds#stats_section_use_of_color. We are debating the use of colors in stats tables with respect to WP:WAI section 4 and the current Barry Bonds page versus the former color scheme. The debate will probably shape color scheme usage throughout baseball bio article stat sections so be thoughtful. You may want to look at other pages that have colorized stat sections such as Roger Clemens, Hector Lopez, and Chris Young (pitcher). Keep in mind what Bonds before colorization looked like. If you know any other editors who you think may have strong opinions one way or another please ask them to comment as well.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 14:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Clarification requested. See Talk:Barry Bonds.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/tcfkaWCDbwincowtchatlotpsoplrttaDCLaM) 15:50, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
Disputed fair use rationale for Image:KeaggyTrueBeliever.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:KeaggyTrueBeliever.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 08:48, 1 October 2007 (UTC)
For the past month, I've been working on the 2006 Chick-fil-A Bowl article. I've brought it up to GA status and am now working on making it a featured article. Since you're a Hokie, and the article deals with the Virginia Tech football team, I'd really appreciate it if you could take a swing by the nomination and leave any suggestions or support you might have. Thanks! JKBrooks85 03:22, 31 October 2007 (UTC)

You don't need to bring an article to AfD if you want it to redirect. If you think it will be controversial, discuss it on the article's talk page. If not, you can do it yourself. J-ſtanTalkContribs 03:44, 21 November 2007 (UTC)
