Policies

[edit]

Hello, it's great to have a new knowledgeable editor around - though your subject matter knowledge could be helped considerably, I think, with some thorough knowledge of our content policies. In reference to your discussion with John Carter over at The Epoch Times, you may wish to carefully consult Wikipedia:PSTS#Primary.2C_secondary_and_tertiary_sources and Wikipedia:PSTS#Synthesis_of_published_material_that_advances_a_position and evaluate those policies in light of that discussion. In fact, may I simply suggest you carefully read all of WP:V and WP:NPOV as well as the WP:PSTS above? Let me know if you have further questions. thanks for this i appreciate it. it seems the conversation was all talk and no action anyway. and front the above it seems the material wasnt really compliant to begin with;;; sorry ive been away for a while. id like to help thoughHappy monsoon day 00:27, 13 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to wikiFeed

[edit]

Hello Happy monsoon day,

I'm part of a team that is researching ways to help Wikipedia editors find interesting content to contribute to Wikipedia. More specifically, we are investigating whether content from news sources can be used to enhance Wikipedia editing. We have created a tool, called wikiFeed, that allows you to specify Twitter and/or RSS feeds from news sources that are interesting to you. wikiFeed then helps you make connections between those feeds and Wikipedia articles. We believe that using this tool may be a lot of fun, and may help you come up with some ideas on how to contribute to Wikipedia in ways that interest you. Please participate! To do so, complete this survey and follow this link to our website. Once you're there, click the "create an account" link to get started.

For more information about wikiFeed, visit our project page. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask via my talk page, or by email at wikifeedcc@gmail.com. We appreciate your time and hope you enjoy playing with wikiFeed!

Thanks! FifthCrow (talk) 20:01, 24 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you did some work on the World Economic Herald and Caijing. Would you consider doing same with Beijing Daily? Seems like it could be a good project. Homunculus (duihua) 20:50, 20 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

not just a good project but a fascinating one just let me see what the literature is out there and i could create that and make it interesting. i have been extremely busy with my studies but my area of study is chinese communications theory so this suits very well. lots of articles in the china media space on wikipedia that need fixingHappy monsoon day 20:40, 30 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]
[edit]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Wu Guanzheng, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page El Mundo. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. I just noticed that these pages are under "discretionary sanctions." Basically it means that you can be punished if you do stuff like this [1] (i.e. openly tendentious editing.) Please see this page [2]. This note is a warning to you, because you cannot be sanctioned if you were not first warned. I'm just going to revert your latest one, will check the rest of the diffs later - but bottom line is you can't keep doing what you're doing. Thanks. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Violations of Communist Party Political Discipline in China requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. This message contains important information about an administrative situation on Wikipedia. It does not imply any misconduct regarding your own contributions to date.

Please carefully read this information:

The Arbitration Committee has authorised discretionary sanctions to be used for pages regarding Falun Gong, a topic which you have edited. The Committee's decision is here.

Discretionary sanctions is a system of conduct regulation designed to minimize disruption to controversial topics. This means uninvolved administrators can impose sanctions for edits relating to the topic that do not adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, our standards of behavior, or relevant policies. Administrators may impose sanctions such as editing restrictions, bans, or blocks. This message is to notify you sanctions are authorised for the topic you are editing. Before continuing to edit this topic, please familiarise yourself with the discretionary sanctions system. Don't hesitate to contact me or another editor if you have any questions.

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
