It looks like you have a few code problems (maybe an extra set of brackets?) in the text, but otherwise I think you've done a very nice job here. You may get a little push back about this being more narrative than it needs to be, but I wouldn't make those changes unless you actually do get that pushback, because I think this personal connection/history is key to understanding the reasons for the work itself.
