Hi. When you recently edited 2011 Lev Yashin Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Everton (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article Samuel Piette has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Article about a footballer who fails WP:GNG and who has not played in a fully pro league, or his country's national team.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Babajide Ogunbiyi

Nice page. But watch out, Arsenalkid700 might delete your page, as he did mine. Guy apparently doesn't understand the rules around here.Pavlovscat456 (talk) 21:29, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

And I explained on your talk page how he is not notable. See WP:NFOOTY and WP:GNG. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 21:53, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
The Danish 2nd tier is considered a fully professional league. A precedent has been set that appearances in leagues much lower (i.e. the U.S. third and fourth divisions) qualifies a player under notability requirements. For one example, Dawyne Smith has only appeared in the US third and fourth tiers but has not been proposed for deletion. You're being overly trigger happy on deletion. gri3720 (talk)
The USL Pro is fully-professional. The Danish 2nd tier is not. This is all according to Wikipedia:WikiProject Football/Fully professional leagues. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 22:09, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
As noted on the list itself, it is admittedly incomplete. Under your logic, it is not fully-professional because it does not appear on the list. However, it does not appear on the list of known leagues that are not fully professional either. Commonon sense and a little good judgement would lead one to believe that it should be considered fully professional, especially considering that a few of the clubs that currently compete in the league are long time and successful members of the Danish top league. gri3720 (talk)
You can either continue to pursue this or just wait a week or two until he appears for RBNY and the argument is over. Most likely, he will appear for RBNY before the discussion/deletion period even ends.
That other section is for top leagues only that are not fully-pro. If you want you may use the incompleteness in the AfD as your argument. If not than sorry. Also he may play tonight but that still wont help as that is only a friendly. Also our next match is against Houston Dynamo which is 4 days from now. Also if he plays then he still fails WP:GNG. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 22:40, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
I said a week or two because I know that tonight's friendly does not count. However, whenever he makes a league appearance for RBNY, whenever that it is, he will, under Wikipedia guidelines, technically be just as qualified for a stand-alone article as any other footballer with an article as long as the debut is sourced.(which it will be because MLS loves that stuff) So let's just say hypothetically that the Danish second tier is not fully professional. At this point, it is really a nonissue.
Agree. Glad we can come to a common consensus. Anyway sense the article will most likely come back, would it be better or as good if one of the pictures on his page is this picture from the Danish wikipedia. Yes I would delete that one too if I was Danish. Cheers and thank you for a good discussion. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 22:54, 31 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

The discussion will centre on whether Viana meets WP:NSOCCER or WP:GNG. Signed to a professional team doesn't qualify. Kevin Parsemain

[edit]

Caribbean Football Database is not completely reliable! There are matches in which the data is not complete and therefore not known if a player appeared in that match or not! Therefore Parsemain's ACCURATE caps are unknown but his goal tally is, with 20! His goal against St. Lucia on Aug. 28, 2010 would count towards his official tally despite what the site says, as it was still St. Lucia's senior team but with some youngsters! That's normal for senior national teams and would still be an official match! Mind you, I was the one who started the page to begin with! I've also come across quite a number of editors such as yourself where you see a certain statistics site with certain figures and therefore all of a sudden assume it's accurate. Very poor I would say! Banana Fingers (talk) 20:00, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Verify my info with your "sources"?!?!? LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Go read, WP:CRYSTALBALL. Banana Fingers (talk) 20:10, 26 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]
"Sources don't support edits"? Are you high? This match for example. There is a lack of data for Martinique. It's possible that Parsemain made an appearance in that match. That automatically makes his total caps inaccurate!! As for his goals. I already explained it above! Now stop with your nonsense!! Banana Fingers (talk) 15:50, 27 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Québec official soccer team

[edit]

Without getting into dictionary definitions and political terms, on Wikipedia we use "national team" for actual countries i.e. Canda, France, Brazil - Quebec is not a 'nation' in that respect. As for the {{notability}}, that simply doesn't say it isn't notable (if I thought it wasn't notable I would take to AFD), it simply means in its current state it doesn't appear notable i.e. it doesn't currently meet WP:GNG. A call-up is not a cap

[edit]

No one is question the call-up, but he has not played for the team and that is the bright line for changing nationality from the player's birth nation. Feel free to read about that at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 76#Ersan Gülüm and Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football/Archive 76#Ersan Gülüm again. One of the most reliable that I have found on statistics involving the TT Pro League has been Soca Warriors Online. However, the website mostly contains information on Trinidadian football players. I think that games played and goals scored are the only statistics recorded though. Personally, I have found it difficult for reliable Pro League statistics, but has been improving since 2009. Gibraltar

[edit]

Thank you for maintaining Gibraltar's footy articles and for the ones you've created. It's much appreciated! --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 23:43, 1 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

I used the Flickr upload bot to upload some to Commons last night. InfoGibraltar regularly posts free-use photos to their photostream and I'm sure they'll keep doing so for Gib matches, at least the home ones. Other than that you can try asking some others on Flickr whether they mind changing the permissions. I've found many people who are kind enough to do so. I hope this helps and keep up the good work! --Gibmetal 77talk 2 me 00:40, 4 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on File:Gerritson Craane 2.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only," "non-derivative use" or "used with permission," it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. [1], and it was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19, or is not used in any articles. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.

West Virginia Mountain Party convention

[edit]

Your edit, moving WV to "States not participating" on Green Party presidential primaries, 2016, noted that, "They will designate all of their delegates at their July convention to the national nominee." This is confusing as there will not be an official nominee until August 6th. Moreover, if they need to wait for their convention to assign their delegates, then the attendees at the convention could decide to assign their delegates otherwise.

I wonder if there is some confusion of delegates (to the GP national convention) and electors (to the electoral college) which they may need to file with the WV SOS. In any case, the act of holding a convention to make any decision regarding delegates is actual participation in the delegate selection process. I will revert your edit moving WV to "States not participating". Let me know if i missed something here. Bcharles (talk) 03:46, 11 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Riverhounds primary kit

[edit]

Hi,

Other than you go to some games, can you provide evidence that the gold kit ISN'T the primary color? All evidence on the Riverhounds site would suggest it's the gold/yellow kit. Here's some links...

- Player profiles - http://riverhounds.com/team/ - New signing holding shirt - http://riverhounds.com/2016/08/19/riverhounds-sign-pdl-mvp-chevaughn-walsh/ - Most recent home game - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OKgppEeLJdY - Club shop - https://pittsburgh-riverhounds-team-store.myshopify.com/

I'll change over soon if there isn't any? They might rotate colors, but clearly gold is their primary.

Correction

[edit]

Hello. You made an error in relation to this. Mongolia national football team results 10 August 1942 Mongolia 0–12 Japan Xinjing, Manchuria

The match against Japan at Mengjiang, is not the first game of Mongolia. Mengjiang is not the team of Mongolia, she would rather the team of Inner-Mongolia. Mengjiang = Inner-Mongolia. I remind you that the USSR and Mongolia have fought together to bring down the Manchukuo Emperor Puyi of which is considered a puppet state, was controlling Mengjiang by Prince Demchugdongrub. Mongolia at the same time was controlling by chairmen Dansranbilegiin Dogsom (1936-1940) and Gonchigiin Bumtsend (1940-1953). Good continuation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A01:E34:EE0E:ABD0:B854:9C74:3C1F:E26D (talk) 14:58, 30 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Invite to the African Destubathon

[edit]

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 53 African countries, so should be enjoyable! So it would be a good chance to win something for improving stubs on African sportspeople, including footballers, athletes, Olympians and Paralympians etc, particularly female ones, but also male. Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance (think Regions of countries etc). If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing a few expanded articles on African Paralympians, Olympians and committees etc, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 21:14, 6 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Guardia Svizzera F.C., you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Vatican. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The article 2017 Hero Tri-Nation Series has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Not a notable tournament. One time friendly tournament. Not enough for WP:GNG as well.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ArsenalFan700 (talk) 05:12, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Only this really gives a notability criteria but not for tournaments. I just don't look at this tournament as notable. Besides WP:GNG, this is just a one-time event that was put together after the Champions Cup had to be postponed. It is just two friendlies essentially but with a name for TV reasons. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 16:07, 19 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I see what you mean but I still don't get it. First, that page has never been considered for deletion and probably wasn't seen before or no one looked into it before. I don't Saudi football so I wouldn't know whether it was just some friendlies disguised as a tournament or not but I know Indian football and I know that is what is happening here. At least that Saudi tournament is a cup, this doesn't even have a cup or anything... it is literally just three matches taking place, know final, not even a table from what I can see. I look at it as similar to a tour or series in cricket where a nation comes to another to play a series of games for a month, they don't mean much. This isn't a tournament, there is nothing fully to play for here and even FIFA has these matches listed as just friendlies. It just seems clear that this is not notable at all. --ArsenalFan700 (talk) 01:34, 20 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:22, 25 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Intellivision Amico games requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Liz Read! Anguilla vs British Virgin Islands

@Stevie fae Scotland: Unfortunately I haven't been able to find the lineups yet either. The goalscorers weren't made known until a full 24 hours later. Botswana national team results exceeds the maximum post expand include size. It's in this hidden category [[2]] When you replace templates with normal links, it should work. Templates increase the size of pages a lot although you can't see it directly. The page doesn't load completely, because the templates make it much larger than it appears to be. Is this legitimate?

[edit]

i was looking through your drafts just because, on User:Gri3720/Drafts 2, is there actually a plan for Nauru and Marshall Islands to play then? Yoblyblob (talk) 18:25, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

@Yoblyblob Hi, it's not set in stone at all but it has been hinted at. Marshall Islands says it will definitely play its first match in 2024. The Nauru Soccer Federation now has a website (naurusoccer.com) that Paul Watson has confirmed is legitimate to me on Twitter. On the website it says the federation wants to field its first-ever national team soon. The Marshall Islands' closest neighbor is Nauru and Paul Watson has worked with both. It's just adding up. Nothing solid yet but I got the draft ready for if something is announced. Gri3720 (talk) 18:30, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Oh thanks! That gives me something new to lookout for Yoblyblob (talk) 18:31, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Yoblyblob Definitely, my niche is stuff like that so I stumbled upon the website by accident. It's a work in progress but definitely something to follow. An earlier screengrab from July says Nauru is even going to announce a manager soon. I'm assuming it is Watson. Gri3720 (talk) 18:33, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I found the website 2 months~ ago, and it was just pretty much blank with the logo. I wasn’t sure if it was legitimate and forgot about it without looking much more into it Yoblyblob (talk) 18:34, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Yoblyblob Yeah, I assumed it was another fake like the league a few years ago but I knew Paul Watson would know if anyone. He responded right away and basically just said, "yes, it is totally legitimate but I can't say anymore right now." Gri3720 (talk) 18:36, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@YoblyblobI see you're a fan of Niue. Any news on that? All I saw is that the new federation is planning their first 11 v. 11 tournament. Gri3720 (talk) 18:56, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@Gri3720, recently held their first tournament in a couple years, the 11v11 is less of a tournament, there will be a representative team from the northern part of the island and the southern part. Way less likely football will really come back there due to rugby popularity and a declining population of 1600 Yoblyblob (talk) 22:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company, corporation or organization that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hey, I am in the US too but unfortunately I haven’t found anything at all. Not even any pirate livestreams. I’ll share with you if I come across something though. Gri3720 (talk) 19:41, 17 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, my guess is that they're still working on it. It was obvious that the last version was just a draft. I don't know if you saw this but they have come out since then so it appears to still very much be happening.
