What happened?

[edit]

I looked up TW just now and added all the scripts (except the Admins-only one) to my monobook.js. Now, the normal buttons at the top of my screen ("page", "discussion", "edit this page", "history", "move", and "watch") have suddenly acquired rounded edges, and "watch" has been replaced with ten additional buttons. Is this normal? GlobeGores 14:53, 31 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Attention

[edit]

Please stop. Question on moving pages

[edit]

Is there a way to revert an abusive/disruptive/vandal move in one click, or does one have to move both the main article and the talk page at different times? And if there is a way, will it be something like "Reverting disruptive move by @@@@ at @@@@", or "Moving @@@@ to @@@@@ and talk:@@@@ to talk:@@@@@"? Thanks, GlobeGores (talk) 09:09, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, they can be moved at the same time. There is a checkbox that asks whether you want to move the talk page as well. Try making a page at User:GlobeGores/test and User talk:GlobeGores/test, and then move them to User:GlobeGores/test2 and User talk:GlobeGores/test2, You'll see how it gets recorded in your contributions; as two or four edits at the same time. ··coelacan 09:54, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of User talk:GlobeGores/test2

[edit]

Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the article (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[Talk:User talk:GlobeGores/test2|the article's talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Multiple speedy categories

[edit]

Hi GlobeGores, My understanding is that there is no limit to the categories applicable to speedy deletion requests. The more categories breached by the editor, the more likely that a poor article will be deleted. Keep up the good work! Regards, WWGB (talk) 11:06, 23 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Zoran Rajovic

[edit]

Just a friendly headsup on Zoran Rajovic. I removed your speedy tag as there is both context and content in the article. Is there something else going on that I'm missing that would be a reason for deletion?--Fabrictramp 17:53, 1 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, and thanks for the heads-up. I feel like an ape for getting back to this 16 days late... I'll try to find some sources for it, but all the ones I can find are in another language which I do not understand. GlobeGores (talk) 01:34, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Just a question

[edit]

The definition for an encyclopedia according to Webster's is this: "An encycopedia is a book or set of books with alphabetically arranged articles on ALL branches, OR on one field of knowledge." So why can't glitches be put up if they are from a branch of knowledge? I'm just trying to help people out with knowledge. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Chuuplo (talkcontribs) 01:59, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Chuuplo, the thing is that while Wikipedia is not a paper encyclopedia (which means there is not feasible limit to the topics it can cover), it is not the repository of all the universe's knowledge. If the article contained everything everyone ever knew about Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, then believe me, it would be one hard-to-read article :-). If the glitch is notable, then find a source for it so that you can show that a lot of people have seen this glitch and had trouble with it. Otherwise, it can't go in the article, because then we wouldn't know if it were true or not. The website you provided is just a forum - so we can't use it as a source because we don't know it for certain - we don't have hard evidence to show that it exists; also, it doesn't show why the glitch is really, really important. It's not that the editors here are doubting your word, it's just that they need more to show that it exists than your word. Hope this helps, and try editing a few other pages to see if you have any good information about them. Cheers! GlobeGores (talk) 02:08, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try to find a better source. But this glitch does work since I've done it myself on my japanese glithced version. Thanks for the help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Chuuplo (talkcontribs)

Welcome, and happy editing! I see you're working on some other pages right now. Good luck! GlobeGores (talk) 02:17, 18 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, it is, but first we try to see if we can get a source for it and see if we can use existing reliable sources already in the article. I'll see if I can find a source for it. And generally, the comments (like "deleted unsourced material") go in the edit summary. Thanks! GlobeGores (talk | contribs) 05:22, 25 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I Tried

[edit]

I tried to put deleted on the post, but he reverted anyway. Maybe tomorrow will be better. (Davidking24 (talk) 13:04, 23 January 2008 (UTC))[reply]

I think maybe Zpb objected to the formatting of your post, which made it look as if you were pleading with him to stop while he kept relentlessly speaking in non sequitur. Maybe you should just remove those entries and put a small note up saying you removed them, put a small note at the bottom saying you want to now drop all this, and then just move on. GlobeGores (talk | contribs) 05:16, 23 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • Ok, I am trying again. I thought I had earlier put Post Deleted one of the first times I tried to delete but when I went back and looked I don't see it so apparently I did not do the edit the right way. Maybe this will work this time? Thanks for your help and suggestion.

Vandalism warning templates

[edit]

Well, I did not actually leave that comment (Poeloq did), but lucky for you I use the same one. Anyway, it is part of the huggle anti-vandalism program, which is currently in beta-testing. It is quite an incredible program, but since it is in beta test, Gurch, the creator, is only giving it out to those who ask him, and have been around a while. Without the program, you would need to create the template to use yourself. You could try asking Gurch. Prodego talk 02:50, 24 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your inform about the issue on the Khmer wikipedia that I contacted User:Bookofjude

[edit]

Thank you for your inform about the issue on the Khmer wikipedia that I contacted User:Bookofjude I would like to ask you about the User:Fuzheado they also Khmer Wikipedia sysop. But He has no action on Khmer Wikipedia. Khmer Wikipedia has only 2 sysops. Now Khmer Wikipedia is vandaling by Some Thai People. They want to destroy Khmer Wikipedia. Khmer wikipedia has no Khmer sysops, So we can't stop their bad actions. Can tell you me How to solve these issue?

Sorry for any inconvenience!

My Khmer Wikipedia Account is User:តឹក ប៊ុនលី.

If there are two sysops, as you say, but both of them are inactive here and on the Khmer Wikipedia, then maybe you can try going through the requests for adminship process on your wikipedia. However, if that is too slow, you can try the requests for permissisons page on Meta. Drini is a steward there and (assuming your reason for needing adminship is reasonable) he or another steward can set your rights on the Khmer wikipedia as a sysop. Note that if you got meta, you should explain why you cannot go through the Requests for Adminship process. GlobeGores (talk | contribs) 17:31, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

GlobeGores. I was recently editing some of the information on Jasb when i came across the information you had tried to put under External Links. I do not know why the information has not come up. I am very interested in how you obtained the information on the early Babis in Jasb. Specially how you know about Mulla Jaafar Jasbi, as a descendant of his, even i did not know the true extant of his family tree. I would really appreciate it if you got back to me on this issue as i have many questions to ask you. Please reply in my discussion page, or if you have the time email me at pedary1@gmail.com if you can i would trully appreciate it. Kind Regards Pedary (talk) 13:21, 16 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

advice

[edit]

I have removed the speedy on Dr. Xiangen Hu as the reviewing administrator because it was premature. People sometimes write an article in one sentence portions, and there is no rule against it. This was nominated the very same minute it was written. If nothing more is written, that would of course be another matter & you should ask me to delete it. Please take a look in another few days. I put on an "underconstruction" tag to give time for expansion--we usually allow 5 days. If after expansion you think insufficient notabillity is shown, then please use prod. Zeta meson

[edit]

I suspect some of the confusion lies in the name Roy Mackal. Little known to me until I actually went to the Roy Mackal page a couple of minutes ago, there is another, more famous, Roy Mackal who is completely unrelated to the one in the article. I will fix that in the article.

As for the other points, which of the two articles are unrelated? I couldn't find a publicly accessible article or paper that was entirely about the zeta meson, but I'm pretty sure all of the ones I link to at least have mention of it. LarryLadd (talk) 22:56, 28 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent report to AIV

[edit]

Thanks for reporting 12.18.245.115. This IP's last block had just expired, so we don't need to warn them as much, particularly when it is an educational institute (as they are static IPs known to be more disruptive). Furthermore, the vandalism itself met WP:REVDEL criteria, including grossly offensive BLP violations. After several of these and but a single warning I think a block is warranted. Just thought I'd share my thoughts, thanks again. — MusikAnimal talk 00:02, 4 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Bare URLs

[edit]

Information icon Hello, and thank you for your efforts to improve Wikipedia, and in particular for adding references, as you did to Dieudonné M'bala M'bala! However, adding a bare URL is not ideal, and exposes the reference to link rot. It is preferable to use proper citation templates when citing sources, including details such as title, author, date, and any other information necessary for a bibliographic citation. Here's an example of a full citation using the {{cite web}} template to cite a web page:

Lorem ipsum<ref>{{cite web |title=Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac |publisher=Canon Inc |work=Ask a Question |date=2022 |url=https://support.usa.canon.com/kb/index?page=content&id=ART174839 |access-date=2022-04-02}}</ref> dolor sit amet.

which displays inline in the running text of the article as:

Lorem ipsum[1] dolor sit amet.

and displays under References as:

1. ^ Download the Scanning Software - Windows and Mac". Ask a Question. Canon Inc. 2022. Retrieved 2022-04-02.

If you've already added one or more bare URLs to an article, there are tools available to expand them into full citations; try the reFill tool, which can resolve some bare references semi-automatically. ReFill is great; try it! Mathglot (talk) 19:22, 30 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
