ok
OK .. so .. do you want me to propose an unban at ANI? — Ched : ? 04:09, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I'm not sure Bugs will approve. I think that he has an inkling that something is going on. Glitch Turner (talk) 04:14, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Well .. it would be a community decision to lift the ban, but I think both he and I are willing to let you give it a shot - but it's really not up to either one of us individually. As I said .. the "community" has to be willing to allow it. Of course you would be on a very short leash for a while, so I would expect you'll have to promise to avoid any socking, and certainly behave and not break any of the Policies and guidelines we have here. It's up to you. If you want me to start a thread at ANI, I am more than willing to try. — Ched : ? 04:19, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- I will support removing the ban. ←Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? carrots→ 04:21, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

Unblock Request
Glitch Turner (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
Please unblock or contact the blocking administrator so that I can reply to the above and or to this. I would very much like to put my past behind me and feel the best way to bury the hatchet would be with open dialog between myself and Jayron32, Ched, and/or Bugs. If the event that this is denied, please paste this message (exclusive of the Unblock request) at ANI so that maybe the discussion can continue here. Thank you in advance for your consideration. Glitch Turner (talk) 10:44, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Unless there are exceptional circumstances, if you wish to be unblocked you need to request an unblock on your original account, not on one of your sockpuppet accounts. I see no indication of such exceptional circumstances in this case. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:43, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.
You may not be unblocked in order to participate at WP:ANI. You would type your response, sign it, and use {{adminhelp}} asking an admin to copy/paste it over. If you are blocked due to WP:SOCK/WP:EVADE then you MUST do this from your primary account. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 11:46, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- Please note that doing so should be via your original account, not here. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:43, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

- Admin, Please notifyJamesBWatson and BWilkinsThat I have responded to them here:
- I don't remember the password to the original account, it was banned quite some time ago. Please allow for this account to be the one that is considered. If so, then I would like to make a statement for review here or at ANI, whichever is preferred. Glitch Turner (talk) 20:28, 10 May 2011 (UTC)

- Admin, Please notifyJamesBWatson and BWilkinsThat I have responded to them here:
- OK, I accept that you can't access your original account, and so can use this one. I will post a note at ANI saying that you wish to take part in the discussion. If you post any comment you wish to contribute to that discussion here, together with an "adminhelp" tag, either I or another administrator will copy it to the discussion there. - Thank you. 21:12, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
{{adminhelp}} Per JBW above, please ask him or another Admin post this for me:
Statement:
Please consider an unblock of this account. I have exerted much energy and wasted the time of others being disruptive in the past. It was wrong and I apologize for my immaturaty. I believe I can use my time and talents to be a productive member of the encyclopedia. I suggest the following:
- Initially limited access to only articles or their talk pages to show my ability to improve the encyclopedia. I would also ask for access to my user talk page, and to the user talk pages of those that need to communicate with me for the purpose of improving the encyclopedia.
- A topic ban, restricting me from any edits at the reference desks, as they were my biggest source of behavior problems in the past.
If allowed, I am going to give 100% effort to turning over a new leaf and devote my energy to improvements here. If someone would be willing to help or mentor me, I think it would be even better. Thank you in advance for the consideration. Glitch Turner (talk) 21:12, 10 May 2011 (UTC)
- See WP:STANDARDOFFER. If you stay away from Wikipedia for an extended period of time, such that you can prove that you respect your initial block on the Light current account, and you never attempt to edit Wikipedia, either via a sockpuppet account or an anonymous IP address, in that time (say 6 months is a good round number), and THEN request an unban, I will personally advocate for the revocation of your ban in an open forum such as WP:AN. It would still be an open discussion, but in general these tend to go well if you honestly respect the existing ban. We can respect someone that wants to contribute positively, but right now you have a lot of negative reputation to overcome. Respecting your existing ban by staying away for 6 months is a good way to work some of that negative reputation off. --Jayron32 00:18, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
{{adminhelp}} Admin, Please insert the below here as an indented bullet below DWeller's Support !vote:
- Agreed, my intent above was for a permanent topic ban in my problem area. Glitch Turner (talk) 12:28, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Thank you in advance for considering this assistance. Glitch Turner (talk) 12:28, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Done JamesBWatson (talk) 12:43, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
- Jim, thank you for the assist (BTW it was not intended to move the "Thank you in advance..." statement). Hopefully, I will get a second chance. I intend to work hard at being one of the "success stories" if this pans out. Glitch Turner (talk) 13:13, 11 May 2011 (UTC)
Well, I did think that opinion at ANI was pretty evenly balanced lifting the ban and keeping it, and I put some thought into how to shift opinion more in your favour. Today I went back to the discussion to make another try, and found to my surprise that there had been a massive shift of opinion against you. I wondered why, but on looking further I found that at least part of the reason was this edit. You really know how to shoot yourself in the foot, don't you? There is no question whatever of my continuing to support the lifting of a ban on a person whose attitude is "if you don't do what I want then I will deliberately be uncooperative". How can anyone with such an obstructive attitude ever be trusted? I was one of your strongest supporters, but not any more, and I wonder how many others have also been turned against you by this attitude: some have actually said that they have. JamesBWatson (talk) 09:43, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
- I couldn't say it any better than James did above. — Ched : ? 12:42, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
You really don't know when you are onto a good thing, do you? There was a serious chance that you might be unbanned, but by more childish sockpuppetry you have blown that. This talk page has been protected to stop more of the same. JamesBWatson (talk) 14:50, 12 May 2011 (UTC)
Confirmed
Two things to say:
- In response to your message at my talk page I have given your account confirmed status, so that you can edit this talk page. Sorry for the inconvenience.
- Unfortunately the whole situation regarding your account, your unban request, etc, is a mess. I was convinced that the trolling (via IPs and at least one new account) was from you, but now I am not so sure. If it was you then I think your ban should stay, but if it wasn't then I would be prepared to go back to my support for unbanning. I have the following to suggest. Keep off Wikipedia for a few months. During that time don't use any other accounts, nor editing anonymously. Then come back and contact an administrator who has a reasonable chance of being willing to support a new request for unblock. Basically, follow the standard offer. That offer suggests six months. Personally I might be willing to consider it after three months, but the chances of getting a consensus in favour of unbanning would probably be much better after six, so if you can bear to wait that long it would be much better. Jayron32 has invited you above to take up the standard offer, and DMacks and Dweller have both indicated a willingness to consider it at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents, so presumably any of those would be sympathetic, and naturally I would. I will keep this page on my watchlist, and if you like you can enable email in your preferences, and then you will be able to email a specific admin, rather than rely on a general public request here. Of course there is no guarantee that any such attempt would succeed, but it might stand a reasonable chance, and at present I don't see anything else that stands any chance at all.
