Introduction to contentious topics

[edit]

You have recently edited a page related to the Arab–Israeli conflict, a topic designated as contentious. This is a brief introduction to contentious topics and does not imply that there are any issues with your editing.

A special set of rules applies to certain topic areas, which are referred to as contentious topics. These are specially designated topics that tend to attract more persistent disruptive editing than the rest of the project and have been designated as contentious topics by the Arbitration Committee. When editing a contentious topic, Wikipedia’s norms and policies are more strictly enforced, and Wikipedia administrators have special powers in order to reduce disruption to the project.

Within contentious topics, editors should edit carefully and constructively, refrain from disrupting the encyclopedia, and:

  • adhere to the purposes of Wikipedia;
  • comply with all applicable policies and guidelines;
  • follow editorial and behavioural best practice;
  • comply with any page restrictions in force within the area of conflict; and
  • refrain from gaming the system.

Additionally, you must be logged-in, have 500 edits and an account age of 30 days, and are not allowed to make more than 1 revert within 24 hours on a page within this topic.

Editors are advised to err on the side of caution if unsure whether making a particular edit is consistent with these expectations. If you have any questions about contentious topics procedures you may ask them at the arbitration clerks' noticeboard or you may learn more about this contentious topic here. You may also choose to note which contentious topics you know about by using the {{Ctopics/aware}} template.

This and other edits of yours (including one that was made three days after you thanked me for the above alert) are in clear violation of the WP:PIA restrictions. More of the same will lead to you being reported to the admins without warning. M.Bitton (talk) 15:00, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay. Can you please explain how exactly I violated the WP:PIA restrictions? I don't really understand.... GeopoliticalSphygmomanometry (talk) 15:07, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Everything you need to know is explained in the linked articles, including WP:ARBECR that I cited while reverting your first edit. M.Bitton (talk) 15:11, 20 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I see, thank you. I imagine you are referring to the following: "Should disruption occur on "Talk:" pages, administrators may take enforcement actions..."
I understand that you considered my writing on the talk page to be a "disruption" and therefore allowed yourself to take action on it. However, Wikipedia's rules define it so, and I quote:
I see, thank you. I imagine you are referring to the following: "Should disruption occur on "Talk:" pages, administr.t Would you care to explain how my recommendations on the talk page form a pattern of editing that disrupts progress toward improving the article? Dare I say, I actually see my recommendations as the very progress itself toward improving the article. It certainly doesn't disrupt such progress. If so you claim, as apparently it seems you do, please explain how that is the case. Thanks again!s may take enforcement actions".

Nothing to do with disruption. You may make a formal edit request, but that's all. No further comments. Doug Weller talk 17:19, 14 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Please explain what I have missed here. I don't get it. GeopoliticalSphygmomanometry (talk) 16:29, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Thanks for your contributions to Kamal Mansour. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it has no sources. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. jlwoodwa (talk) 23:49, 11 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ARBECR violation (again)

[edit]

Is there a reason you keep ignoring the restrictions (that have been explained to you)? M.Bitton (talk) 20:59, 19 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I'm sorry. I don't understand. Which restrictions have I violated? I have not edited a page, but merely argued a proposed point in the discussion on the talk page... I am missing something here? My apologies if I have violated any guidelines, I have no intention of doing such a thing. GeopoliticalSphygmomanometry (talk) 16:26, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GeopoliticalSphygmomanometry You can only use article talk pages to make a formal edit request per Wikipedia:Edit requests. Once you've made it you can't comment on it as you did at Special:Diff/1263995132. You also can't comment on user talk pages. Doug Weller talk 16:55, 22 December 2024 (UTC)[reply]

World Rapid and Blitz

[edit]

Re this edit where your removed mention of the women from the tournament... the "Rapid and Blitz Championship" includes the Women's section... my only question for you is... was your edit a) sloppy or b) intended to provoke? Because if it's b), you have succeeded. Either way, knock it off. Marcus Markup (talk) 19:33, 4 January 2025 (UTC)

If you had taken half a minute to look at the examples from previous years, you would have gained a clue. Your edit was simply inexcusable.e Marcus Markup (talk) 19:42, 4 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
