Spinning Around
What is the title of the E-Book and what info are you trying to cite from it. I Help, When I Can. [12] 21:36, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, the user above you ask if I had the book 1000 UK Number One Hits to see the page numbers of "Spinning Around", I don't have the physical copy right now with me, but I have the Kindle edition (e-book). This version dosen't have page numbers, only location numbers but I told him/her that I don't know how to cite e-books, I can give the location numbers and all the info he/she needs to complete the references, but I don't know how to do it myself. Frcm1988 (talk) 21:45, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
- Location number should be sufficient. I Help, When I Can. [12] 22:48, 30 January 2011 (UTC)

Hey :)
Hey Christopher. Hope you have been doing well :) I have been trying to get the "Billboard Book of #2 Songs" but to no avail. Would it be possible for you to scan me two songs? If yes, they are "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cindi Lauper and "Heartbreak Hotel" by Whitney Houston. Anyways, thanks for your time and help in the past! :)--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 22:29, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
- Very glad to hear it Chris! Do take your time, and enjoy your vacation :) One last one, since you have the UK hits, do you think you can also scan Mariah Carey's "Without You" and "Against All Odds" featuring Westlife? Sorry if its a lot lol. Anyways, thanks again for all the MC scans back in the day :D--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 08:25, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
Billboard Book of Hottest Hot 100 Hits
Hi! I was wondering if you had the above book (sorry if I typed the name wrong. It's by Fred Bronson). If so, does the book have detailed information (Background or inspiration behind the song) on Jessica Simpson's "Irresistible"? Novice7 (talk) 12:17, 23 April 2011 (UTC)
- The song reached #15, doesn't that book only list #1 singles?--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 08:24, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- I think this book book lists the top charting singles (like the top 10 or top twenty) by an artist. Novice7 (talk) 09:14, 24 April 2011 (UTC)
- Hi sorry for the late reply. Im afraid I don't have that book, but I can see some pages from my Amazon account and there is nothing about her, she appears mostly on lists but there is no information of the song, sorry about this, if I can help you with anything please let me know. Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 04:06, 28 April 2011 (UTC)

- Oh wow, thanks for that, I didn't expect that! Yes, that could definitely be added, it will be like background info on their thoughts. :). Thanks for keeping me in mind Chris! All the best.--CallMeNathan • Talk2Me 21:21, 1 May 2011 (UTC)

hello,
do you have the Australian Kent Report magazine? And looking at the above section, I need the The Billboard Book of Number One Albums too! But I just need to know if there is the "Number-one Jazz albums"; that's what I am looking for. Thank you.--♫Greatorangepumpkin♫Share–a–Power[citation needed] 17:16, 6 July 2011 (UTC)

Express Yourself
Hello Christopher, I don't know how fond you are of Her Madgesty's "Express Yourself", but I was developing it for GA here. What do you think can be a good tagline for DYK? — Legolas (talk2me) 14:27, 16 July 2011 (UTC)
- Hi Legolas, well I don't love it but I don't hate it either. Probably something about the music video? that was the most expensive music video at that time. Frcm1988 (talk) 21:04, 16 July 2011 (UTC)

Hiya, I asked Legolas if he knew anyone with the Billboard Book of Number 1 Hits (2003 issue) and he referred me to you. Could you please help, myself and Novice 7 are about to start working on "Genie in a Bottle" so I was wondering if you could scan or send me the info somehow, it would be really helpful if you had the detail on the other two number 1 hits; "What a Girl Wants", and "Come On Over Baby (All I Want Is You)". Hi
Hi Chris! Can you send me the scan for Debbie Gibson's "Foolish Beat"? Whenever you're free. Thanks, Novice7 (talk) 15:51, 25 September 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks. Maybe, you can squeeze in Martika's "Toy Soldiers" too? If possible? Yeah, I'm trying to multitask lol. I've heard about that too. She had a great fanbase back then. I'm going to search through every available archives for info :) Novice7 (talk) 03:34, 26 September 2011 (UTC)

Hello,
My name is Theologiae and I just expanded the Bedtime Story Madonna article. Could you review it and say what you think, especially in comparison to the past revision? I'm trying to follow as closely as possible a GA style which I've seen in other GA Madonna articles. (PS I haven't edited the video section).
Yours,

Re:question
Hi, I personally don't think Music Week is a highly reliable for sales figures. But to make sure if the figures they have published (I can't see, you didn't provide the source) for Spice Girls are correct or not, I would compare each figure posted for markets like US, Canada, Germany or UK for example to the available certifications coming from those markets, and if they do match perfectly, then, probably it's safe to use that source to support sales figures for other markets as well. I've gone over Spice Girls' certifications for all of the markets that offer online certifications, if you need it for verification purposes, let me know, I'll upload my file on Mediafire.com. Regards.--Harout72 (talk) 22:51, 26 October 2011 (UTC)
- I've taken the awards and converted them into figures, I don't have the awards on there, just the totals for each album/single, see here. As for the Platinum-awards posted on Billboard, some of them have changed after that date as sales for their debut album continued. For example, Billboards claims Platinum for Germany (500,000 units) which, in fact, was later in 1997 certified 3x Gold (750,000 units). In Canada, it eventually became a Diamond album (1,000,000 units), whereas, the Billboard states 6x Platinum (600,000 units). Also, in Brazil, it was certified 2x Platinum (500,000 units), Billboard states 1x Platinum (250,000 units). Some of them; however, haven't changed including UK, Dutch, Finnish, Austrian, Swiss, Belgian and Polish sales. Anyways, if you have questions about my file, let me know.--Harout72 (talk) 15:42, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hi, you're right, the figures don't seem to be inflated, but you should not support sales figures or pretty much anything else with scans. Perhaps, it would somewhat work if the name of the publisher was visible. Isn't that the same article available online? In my opinion, you'd be better off with supporting the markets that you want with the Billboard's published figures.--Harout72 (talk) 23:36, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok, the figures posted in this article, and also in the scans from Music Week are simply figures converted from Gold and Platinum awards. They are not really sales figures. For Argentina, for example, it is stated 30,000, that was the Gold-award there for all releases before 2001, whereas, the billboard's article has Platinum (60,000) for Argentina . Also, it states 100,000 units for Brazil, which was the Gold-award there for all releases before 2001, whereas, the Billboard has 2x Platinum (500,000 units sold/shipped) for Brazil. The same is with all other markets. By the way, the figures on both articles (Music Week and this) are provided by the same individual named Simon Fuller. All in all, if scanned pages are used for sales/shipment column, then the sales figure for Argentina will be much lower than what the certification-level (Platinum) represents in the Billboard, which I assume will be used for the certification column. I'm guessing that the figures published in the Music Week for Chile, South Africa, Malaysia, India, and Colombia (which you're interested in) will be lower than the certification-levels posted in Billboard also. BTW, I updated the sources of certifications and their levels at Spice (album) for major markets. Cheers.--Harout72 (talk) 01:22, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yeah, I think using Billboard's certifications and the levels they represent would be a better choice. I did support some of the certifications with that source including Spanish, Italian, Japanese certs. Unfortunately, I don't know what the certification-levels were in 1996 for Chile, South Africa, Malaysia, India, Colombia and other non-western markets, with an exception of Brazil, Mexico, Argentina and Japan.--Harout72 (talk) 03:00, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
RE: Spice
I have some random stuff. I'll have to have a little look around, I have like five magazines so I'll read through 'em! So glad to hear your continuing with the Spice Girls on wikipedia though! But I'll get back to you tomorrow, if thats not too late, I have to pop off to work now :) -FeuDeJoie (talk) 11:45, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- Right so looked around, and most of the stuff I have is from the Spiceword film and the actual Spice album, I've gone through them and I don't think I have any info past "Spice Up Your Life". I have Geri's autobiographies, do you think there would be anything worthwhile in there? Oh and right now im trying to get on with the xtina articles but I just don't know how to find reviews! --FeuDeJoie (talk) 22:30, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Voices Carry
Hi, how's it going? I just stumbled on the Voices Carry (song) article—it's a nice little article. But I was wondering about the quote at the end of Recording and production: "not what the rules were [...] but it sounded pretty good, as well it might coming from one of the finest American engineer/producers". Grammatically it doesn't make any sense at all. I looked at the source and I see that that's how it's printed in the source. But would it be better to not use that part of his quote, since it is so ungrammatical to the point that we can't be sure what he meant to say. I think likely he said, "so it might as well be coming from one of the finest American engineer/producers." and that maybe it was mistyped in the source document. But I guess that's just speculation. I don't know if you feel very confident that's what he meant (or do you have another theory what he meant?) and want to paraphrase, or if not, what would you feel about removing that part of the quote? That might be the safest thing to do. But what do you think about that? Moisejp (talk) 07:41, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
- Aah!! Never mind. I just re-read it. "As well it might" is not an expression that I use myself very often so it didn't hit me at first what it meant. I see now. Sorry about that! Moisejp (talk) 07:43, 30 October 2011 (UTC)
Ray of Light
Yes Chris (although I don't know much about Madonna. I love her music.) Ooh, your help would mean a lot to me. I've notified two other editors too. Sam has the Rooksby book, I think, so Composition section is okay. Can you help me Chris? My draft is User:Novice7/Ray of Light. I've asked for time. As for Legolas, I have no idea. I already sent an e-mail to him. I hope he's okay. Maybe he's just busy with work. Novice7 (talk) 06:19, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Wow, I wish I had that book (Like an Icon) :) I did read that birth of Lourdes, Kabbalah etc. inspired her a lot. Randy's book scans would help me. As for Like an Icon, can you add the information to my sandbox when you get time? 13 pages is a lot :D Novice7 (talk) 07:11, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Btw Chris, does the two books say anything about the working title of the album being The Drowned World? Novice7 (talk) 07:24, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- I will try my best to cleanup the article. If Legolas returns soon, I'll give the draft to him lol. And, you're not alone when it comes to putting off Wiki work. It takes me about five months to complete a project lol. I should add that I'm very lazy too :D So, you don't have to hurry and send me the scans. I use the web first to expand articles and then turn to books. Novice7 (talk) 07:44, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- LOL! Some songs have very little information about them. Thank you so much for your help Chris. As I said earlier, it really means a lot to me. Legolas is on Facebook, I think, but I don't know his profile name there. I think he's busy with work (or he might be on a vacation, lol). Hey, I wanted to ask this to you. Do you like Atomic Kitten? Or, have you listened to their songs? Novice7 (talk) 09:31, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

Help?
Hi Chris! Can you help me find a few reviews for Whitney's "How Will I Know" :) Please? Thanks, Novice7 (talk) 12:45, 25 November 2011 (UTC)
- I'm doing great Chris, how are you? I think I already have BB, Guardian, AMG reviews. I could not find anything else :( You don't know my name? My name's Mahadev (that's my birth name, btw), I'm from India and you can call me Mags or Mahadev or anything you want lol. Novice7 (talk) 04:14, 27 November 2011 (UTC)
- She did face criticism in the beginning. I think the critics wrote she had no "soul", and she was too much "pop" :) Thank you so much for the reviews! They're useful. Novice7 (talk) 13:14, 27 November 2011 (UTC)

Re: It's been a really long time....
It has been, Chris! I was just thinking about you the other day, whilst browsing through the Spice Girls GAs :) I wanted to leave you a message, but seeing that you hadn't edited in quite some time, didn't. You can call me Mags, lol. It's still my name. Ryoga, you know him, right? The main character from Ranma 1/2? Well, Godai is another character by Takahashi, from Maison Ikkoku :) Yep, the interests have sure changed... I now edit J-pop, anime, manga articles lol. Anyway tell me, how has life been? How's work and all? Ryoga (talk) 11:16, 20 August 2014 (UTC)
- Yep, you're right. Maison Ikkoku wasn't very popular. I won't be able to edit like I used to, I'm currently in the last year of my uni life and it sure is difficult. Good! Doing work at home is not something I would like lol. Everything seems so fast, my high school graduation, university... everything. So does yours. Haha, I still don't love it like I used to, but I certainly don't hate it. There are still some very nice people here, so I decided to stay for a while :D Ryoga (talk) 11:21, 21 August 2014 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:Wdytya-ukcd.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Wdytya-ukcd.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Jonteemil (talk) 18:35, 9 May 2020 (UTC)

- Very glad to have helped you get the article to GA status and was impressed that you have been working on it since 2007, but I still have one question; why is there no source at the end of the first sentence in the comp section? --K. Peake 14:52, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Kyle Peake Thanks again for reviewing the article. Originally the first sentence was more of a summary or a general description of the song, kinda like the Critical reception, since the Spanish elements are discussed later on. After I added the R&B part, it looks like the last part of the sentence is unsourced. I placed the source from the Spanish production at the end of the sentence to avoid confusion. Also do you think I should put a picture of Madonna in the Critical reception section?
- And yeah 2007 is so long ago, the criteria was different and sources were not that common. I remember I was doing their singles in chronological order and then I got stuck in 2011 on "Viva Forever" since I didn't have any info on the writing, recording, or the lyrical content. Many if not all of the articles I use to work on need an update, perhaps some day I will fix them. Frcm1988 (talk) 16:22, 1 December 2020 (UTC)
- Thank you for fixing the issue, I did notice that after passing the article as a GA and decided to not re-open the review since it's a minor issue. Also, I do not think you should put a picture of Madonna in the section because the article is already very well-illustrated. About the 2007 comment, yeah I notice the different criteria in contrast to today's Wikipedia often when editing articles that were created around that time. --K. Peake 19:08, 1 December 2020 (UTC)

Hey, I noticed you've done a lot of great work on Spice Girls song articles. Do you by any chance have access to the book Wannabe: How The Spice Girls Reinvented Pop Fame by David Sinclair? Some of the content in the main Spice Girls article is cited to this book, but without the specific page numbers provided. I only have an ebook version that doesn't have page numbers so I'm hoping to find someone who can help me look up what the corresponding page numbers are for the Spice Girls article. Thanks. Bennv3771 (talk) 12:08, 19 February 2021 (UTC)
- Hi Bennv3771, yes I do have a physical copy of the 2008 revisited edition. I dont have it with me at the moment, it is at my parents' house. I could probably have it with me at the end of the next week, there is a partial lockdown right now because of the pandemic, so its a bit difficult to move around the city. I have other books from the group as well, so if you need anything else let me know so I can bring them with me next week. Frcm1988 (talk) 04:49, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Frcm1988: Thanks so much! As for other books, do you have Spice Power: The Inside Story by Rob McGibbon (1997) and Spice Girls: The Story of the World's Greatest Girl Band by Sean Smith (2019)? Again, thank you and take care. Bennv3771 (talk) 05:21, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Bennv3771: I have the McGibbon book although is the Spanish edition, but I can help with the translation if needed. I don't have the other book. I also have Girl Power! (1997, also in Spanish), The Spice Girls (1997, from Anna Louise Golden), Real Life: Real Spice: The Official Story (1997), Spice World: The Movie (1997), the autobiographies of Beckham, Brown and both of Haliwell's, and some of the issues of their own magazine SPICE. So let me know if you need something from any of them, or if you prefer you can tell me if you need info on a specific period or topic so I can search the books and give you whatever I find. Regards. Frcm1988 (talk) 06:47, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
- @Frcm1988: That would be really helpful! I'm slowly making my way through all the 300+ citations in the Spice Girls article so as to find reliable sources for unsourced content and replace any unreliable references. I would also like to expand the "Artistry" section in their article, so if you have anything on their musical influences or musical style, that would be much appreciated. If it's more convenient for you, you can also email me at bv3771wiki@gmail.com. That way there won't be copyright violation issues if you want to send me parts of the text etc, but it's entirely up to you. Thanks again. Bennv3771 (talk) 07:29, 20 February 2021 (UTC)
