Asian 10,000 Challenge invite

Hi. The Wikipedia:WikiProject Asia/The 10,000 Challenge has recently started, based on the UK/Ireland Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The 10,000 Challenge. The idea is not to record every minor edit, but to create a momentum to motivate editors to produce good content improvements and creations and inspire people to work on more countries than they might otherwise work on. There's also the possibility of establishing smaller country or regional challenges for places like South East Asia, Japan/China or India etc, much like Wikipedia:The 1000 Challenge (Nordic). For this to really work we need diversity and exciting content and editors from a broad range of countries regularly contributing. At some stage we hope to run some contests to benefit Asian content, a destubathon perhaps, aimed at reducing the stub count would be a good place to start, based on the current Wikipedia:WikiProject Africa/The Africa Destubathon which has produced near 200 articles in just three days. If you would like to see this happening for Asia, and see potential in this attracting more interest and editors for the country/countries you work on please sign up and being contributing to the challenge! This is a way we can target every country of Asia, and steadily vastly improve the encyclopedia. We need numbers to make this work so consider signing up as a participant! Thank you. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 02:02, 20 October 2016 (UTC)

India

The easiest way is to put together a template with wording to connect the data, substitute specific data for each place and create. Please note: some people think that creating multiple articles is disruptive so be prepared for complaints. Carlossuarez46 (talk) 23:17, 9 January 2017 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you very much for your greetings, Failosopher. I am Sushant. Nair. I edit articles in Wikipedia through my Sushn345wiki account. I will read the articles which you have sent me through links. I also wanted to ask - may I know your name?. Bye!

A cup of tea for you!

I appreciate your greetings and in return, I send something which I (and probably you) love, tea! Sushn345wiki (talk) 16:21, 9 August 2017 (UTC)

Thank you

Thank you very much Failosopher. Thank you so much for your support and greetings. If I have any problems editing, then I will ask you for a solution. Also, thank you very much for the wishes that you sent me regarding my exams! Also, I have changed the background colour of my talk page from Egyptian blue to Red. Actually, I did not understand the coding behind the background colour because of which the background colour of my talk page was Egyptian blue. Also, I don't mind the delay in the reply. Anyways, I am really busy.

Best wishes, Sushant Sushn345wiki (talk) 15:09, 24 August 2017 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Bhicaji Franyi Balsara requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. jd22292 (Jalen D. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Edith Martineau, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Unitarian (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Speedy deletion declined: Fire and Spice

Hello Failosopher, and thanks for patrolling new pages! I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Fire and Spice, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 cannot be applied to books. If you are interested in learning more about how speedy deletion works, I have compiled a list of helpful pages at User:SoWhy/SDA. You can of course also contact me if you have questions. Thank you. Vandalism in the article, Goguryeo - help will be incredible

Hello

I am here to ask you for some help. In fact, I'm asking the same thing to several other administrators about the same matter at hand. About four months ago, the article Goguryeo has been protected due to vandalism, disruptive editing, and edit warring. After a couple of weeks after the protection was broken, two new editors started to vandalize the same article. To introduce you to the situation: they edited out the statements to misrepresent the cited sources, multiple credited sources were entirely removed, and original research has been included to substitute the removal. The two editor(s) in question are: User:Zanhe and User:Koraskadi I have been reverting the article back to the last editorial completed by User:Failosopher(yourself) since the breakout of the situation.

The content that has been subject to this event are these two qualities:

1- "Goguryeo (고구려; 高句麗; [ko.ɡu.ɾjʌ], 37 BCE–668 CE), also called Goryeo (고려; 高麗; [ko.ɾjʌ]), was a Korean kingdom[4][5][6]"

The two editors mentioned above are constantly removing the bolded word; which goes against these three supporting articles cited.

"Koguryo". Encyclopædia Britannica. Retrieved October 15, 2013.

States that Goguryeo as one of the three Kingdoms of Korea

Byeon, Tae-seop (1999) 韓國史通論 (Outline of Korean history), 4th ed, Unknown Publisher, ISBN 89-445-9101-6.

Emphasizes Goguryeo as one of the most powerful Korean State that arose throughout history

"Complex of Koguryo Tombs". UNESCO World Heritage Centre. Retrieved 2013-10-24.

The current article simply talks about its geographical location. However, the article stated that Goguryeo was Korean when it was retrieved.

2- "Goguryeo has been described as an empire by many scholars", "Goguryeo was a powerful empire and one of the great powers in East Asia"

Phrases in relation to the bolded word are getting removed alongside their supporting citations. This is a completely clear example of vandalism.

신형식 (2003). 高句麗史. Ewha Womans University Press. p. 56. ISBN 9788973005284. Retrieved 12 September 2017.
이덕일; 박찬규 (2007). 고구려 는 천자 의 제국 이었다. 역사의아침. ISBN 9788995884973. Retrieved 12 September 2017.

All these sources explicitly describe Goguryeo as an empire or have been described to have developed into an empire. In fact, the main thesis of the first two articles is about Goguryeo being an Empire. The same sources also state that Goguryeo is Korean, but they were not cited for the quality mentioned above for the current editorial.

The editorial that I have been reverting back into was the protected version; which was constructed by a series of discussions and debates with various editors and administrators. Something has to be done about the vandalists or the article in question. For the greater good, I ask you for your help once again, but I will decrease the burden by asking many others. Thank you. Supporting Indian Wikipedia Program resource distribution

In 2017 - 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India chapter (WMIN) and user groups will pilot a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program (Code name: Project Tiger) will:

(a) Support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and
(b) Sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

The objective of the program is to provide laptops and internet stipends for existing editors who need support to contribute more actively. 50 basic model Acer Chromebooks and Internet stipends for 100 contributors are available for distribution. Provided resources are the sole property of the beneficiaries and should be used for the betterment of the movement.

If you're an active Wikimedian, and interested to receive support from this project, please apply. It will take around 10 minutes of your time, and will ask descriptive questions about your contribution to Indic Wikimedia projects.

Project Tiger Writing Contest

In 2017 – 2018, the Wikimedia Foundation and Google working in close coordination with the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS), Wikimedia India Chapter (WMIN) and user groups from India, are piloting a program encouraging Wikipedia communities to create locally relevant and high-quality content in Indian languages. This program will (a) support active and experienced Wikipedia editors through the donation of laptops and stipends for internet access and (b) sponsor a language-based contest that aims to address existing Wikipedia content gaps.

Phase (a) has been completed, during which active contributors were awarded laptops and internet stipends. Phase (b) will be a contest in which editors will come together and develop a writing contest focused on content gaps. Each month three individual prizes will be awarded to each community based on their contribution for the month. The prizes worth 3,000 INR, 2000 INR, and 1,000 INR, will be awarded to the top contributors for each month. The contest started at March 1, 2018, 0:00, and will end at May 31, 2018, 23:59 (IST). 2019 US Banknote Contest

US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here
