Information icon Hello, I'm Bahudhara. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Yellowstone Caldera, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so! If you need guidance on referencing, please see the referencing for beginners tutorial, or if you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Your recent edits on VY Canis Majoris

[edit]

I reverted again your edits on VY Canis Majoris because you keep removing the 2,000 R value for VY CMa, stating that it is deprecated (and also I see no where the paper says it is deprecated) and is really based on Humphreys papers. This 2,000 R for VY CMa is just an average of the Wittkowski radius and a radius of 3,000 R. You even said that Wittkowski told you that VY CMa is not bigger than the radius that estimated it. Ok but despite this, this is not a reliable reference (like what Lithopsian told you about this edit on UY Sct). Besides, The 1,420 value for VY CMa is not necessarily the true size of the star but just an improved estimate and also the size of VY CMa is still uncertain as it is a variable star, so its size varies and also its real upper estimate is not known too. So it is better to keep the Kaminski radius for VY CMa since its size varies. Please stop these edits before being engaged in an edit war. Thanks. ZaperaWiki44(/Contribs) 11:52, 5 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Here’s the thing, putting together an accurate measurement and an obsolete measurement is just a big fat no in my book. Wittkowski himself has told me that VY Canis Majoris is no larger than what he measured it to be. Larger estimates of the radius are based on earlier distance estimates and do not refer to the photospheric radius but to more extended layers around the star. VY Canis Majoris is not the largest star known, but it is certainly one of the largest. I have edited back the page for the last time. Faren29 (talk) 23:55, 7 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
VY CMa varies by a factor of 17, and thus assuming that the brightness of 270,000 (or 310,000) L is the maximum brightness of the star, that means the minimum brightness is only 178,000 (or 204,000) L and since the mass loss of the star is very high and thus the luminosity too (probably over 250,000 L), this value would be probably too low for a red hypergiant with such a huge mass loss. Therefore, the maximum brightness of VY CMa is probably higher than what Wittkoswki calculated (but probably below 360,000 L based on modern distances) and thus the maximum radius could be larger than Wittkowski's radius although it is unlikely to be 2,500-3,000 R like what Humphreys said.
But even worse here because I have no idea why you claim UY Scuti as the real largest star even though the 1708 value is considered dubious and unlikely since it was based on a highly old distance. If the estimated size for the star is very uncertain and dubious, then the star cannot be considered as the largest known star (even Lithopsian said so, as he did with the 1,750-2,440 R value for MY Cephei). Besides, the size of most red supergiants, including VY CMa and even UY Sct, varies so it cannot be sure that UY Sct is the largest star (and do you believe a star could be larger than the largest star???????). So it's better to say that it is simply one of the largest stars. Also where you said you emailed Alcolea ok but for the last time it is not reliable (see above). Please stop doing this before being engaged in an edit war. Thanks. ZaperaWiki44(/Contribs) 08:58, 11 December 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. An article you recently created, Anthony Joshua vs. Jarrell Miller, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. There are standards on the sizes of images in articles, please do not override them. See WP:IMGSIZE and MOS:IMGSIZE. Why did you create a second article?-Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Anthony Joshua II

[edit]

This first one was moved to the draftspace for a reason-because there isn't any sourcing. Why are you trying to go around the AfC process when still pending review? Best, GPL93 (talk) 19:31, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I created a second article because it states that review might take up to 8 weeks. This is a much quicker way and I've started to source my content on this second page. Faren29 (talk) 19:36, 16 August 2019 (BST)

1) It actually rarely takes more than a few days. 2) You should've put the work in on the draft, being impatient is not a particularly good excuse for going around the AfC process, especially after User:discospinster thought it was more prudent to go there. GPL93 (talk) 19:48, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

If this is so, then the article can be deleted while I transfer the work of the article onto the draft while it awaits confirmation. Faren29 (talk) 19:36, 16 August 2019 (BST)

A tag has been placed on Andy Ruiz Jr. vs. Anthony Joshua II requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

No sourcing, possible copyvio with the photo. This article was already draftified by another editor due to having no sources and then author appears to have decided to go around the AfC process instead of actually fixing the issues that caused the article to be moved to the draftspace.

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, pages that meet certain criteria may be deleted at any time.

RfC on upcoming fights in record tables

[edit]

Greetings. You are invited to participate in an RfC on whether to include or omit upcoming fights in professional boxing record tables. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 18:09, 21 April 2023 (UTC)[reply]

A recent edit of yours

[edit]

A word of advice. I'd very strongly advise you to self-revert this edit. [1] It is grossly inappropriate to remove other peoples responses to an RfC, and changing the wording substantively after after it has been responded to is rarely legitimate. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:38, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I was advised to shorten my comment because it was too long. What I removed wasn’t a response to my RfC but an unsigned comment at the top of my RfC that added nothing to what I originally said. Faren29 (talk) 18:43, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
You have removed responses to the RfC by ActivelyDisinterested, Grumpylawnchair, Mac Dreamstate and RonSigPi. AndyTheGrump (talk) 18:48, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Only just noticed. That’s my mistake. Apologies. Faren29 (talk) 20:18, 7 October 2023 (UTC)[reply]

November 2023

Information icon Please do not add or change content, as you did at Jon Jones, without citing a reliable source. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Thank you. Cassiopeia talk 04:01, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

All five of those sources, including the one quoting Dana White, next to the sentence opine that Jones is the greatest of all time. Faren29 (talk) 20:49, 29 November 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
