[edit]Welcome..

[edit]Re: Joshua
[edit]Greetings. A copyrighted image from a newspaper can never be free, no matter what field you put in—you'd have to get permission from the rights holder himself, and I guarantee you that won't happen. The reason why this image is listed as free is because the rights holder at Flickr has specifically released it under such a licence, therefore it can be used on WP. - No worries, and I've never liked WP's image rules either, so I totally see where you're coming from. But, we can't do much about them most of the time. Enjoy the fight too! Mac Dreamstate (talk) 19:33, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Your recent edits
[edit]Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:
- Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
- With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button ( or ) located above the edit window.
This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.
Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 16:20, 25 April 2017 (UTC)
Re: Lineal title
[edit]I only watched the fight now, so I wasn't around for what must've been quite a lot of drive-by edits by clueless IPs. Things seem to have settled now. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 22:34, 8 May 2017 (UTC)
Re: Claressa Shields
[edit]Ouch, that indeed doesn't look right at all. What I'll do is convert her infobox to the MMA one, which allows both professional and amateur stats to be displayed. I'm not actually a big fan of that infobox as I don't believe they're usually warranted for boxers, but exceptions do exist: James Toney had an MMA bout, so he needs one. Also, since Shields' amateur record is sourced, it's fine to display those stats (separately, of course); whereas the amateur record for Robert Helenius' infobox is completely unsourced, so I'm about to convert his infobox back to the standard boxing one. Feedback needed: a tweak to professional boxing records
[edit]This is a message I am leaving for users who regularly edit the record tables for boxers, or at least those keeping an eye on them. I have proposed to ditch "Professional debut" from the #1 fight slot on most contemporary records, and it would be appreciated if you could comment at the WikiProject Boxing talk page. Much thanks. Disambiguation link notification for January 17
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Miguel Román (boxer), you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chihuahua (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:56, 17 January 2018 (UTC)
Fairs
[edit]Hey thanks for your message. Regarding the Srisaket issue, I think if the information is the same in both columns then it makes sense to merge the columns. If you want to separate them, that's fine I wont merge them again.
Flagicons
[edit]Greetings. Just to let you know that I haven't been reverting some of your edits for no reason – [1], [2]. There was an RfC in December 2015/January 2016, in which the Project was unable to reach a consensus on whether to keep or ditch flagicons from the record tables. As a result, it was a WP:NOCONSENSUS, specifically #2: "[...] a lack of consensus commonly results in retaining the version of the article as it was prior to the proposal or bold edit."
In this case, flagicons should not be introduced to record tables which did not have them from the start, or for a long time; likewise they should not be removed from record tables which did have them for a long time. Hope that makes it a bit clearer as to why I reverted. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 22:43, 16 March 2018 (UTC)
- Lara and Charr are two interesting ones indeed, and I see both as prime examples to support my stance that flagicons shouldn't be in record tables at all. BoxRec now lists Lara as American—in terms of residence, citizenship, and representation; Charr is as all-over-the-place as it gets, as you pointed out. I'm sticking quite rigidly with BoxRec, meaning I will not stand back and let anyone change Frampton, Burnett or Macklin to Irish unless they want to start up a new flagicons debate at the Project. I've actually been meaning to start up another such discussion myself, but the messiness of the last one left me fed up with the whole subject of them, so I just accepted the WP:CONSENSUS and have tried to stick with it. Re: Lineal etc
[edit]I saw him try to "revamp" the article now with that shitty-looking format. Just keep reverting—he doesn't seem to be in the mood for consensus-seeking. Mac Dreamstate (talk) 21:12, 12 April 2018 (UTC)
Kanat Islam
[edit]I would like to point a couple things out. The subject Kanat Islam is a Kazakhstani national, having excepted Kazakhastan citizenship in January 2011. China doesn't allow dual citizenship, hence, he is no longer a Chinese national. World Series of Boxing, albeit its rules are similar to professional, is not counted as part of professional boxing but rather as amateur bouts as they are sanctioned under AIBA.
