Help with moving page

Hi Falkirks. I am only on Wikipedia to edit my grandfather's wiki page, so I haven't/won't be very active and therefore cannot move his page to a new one where our surname is correctly spelt.

The current spelling is "Haridas Bhattacharya" with one y. The correct spelling is "Haridas Bhattacharyya" with two y:s . Can you help me move this page to a new one with the correctly spelt heading?

Thanks

/Bhatpara

Bhatpara (talk) 10:03, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

I have moved the page as you requested to Haridas Bhattacharyya. If you could improve the page by adding references that would be great. FalkirksTalk 13:45, 28 May 2013 (UTC)

I'm looking for sources as we speak. Hold on with that deletion attempt. Pmaster12 (talk) 00:32, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Its just a policy that Wikipedia has. Shouldn't you already have sources? Where did you get the info? When you fix this issue just remove the deletion template. This is NOT a speedy deletion so you have some time. FalkirksTalk 00:35, 29 May 2013 (UTC)

Hi Falkirks, I added the

Please! I don't want Ivan Ivanov to be deleted!  :( Red Plastic 12000 (talk) 10:53, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Unfortunately Wikipedia's policy states that all new biography articles must contain at least one source. I see you have both removed my PROD and failed to add references. Please add these quickly or the article will be deleted. FalkirksTalk 14:40, 4 June 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Night Riots, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Rico Rodriguez (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Requested account on ACC

I requested an account on the ACC creation interface. FalkirksTalk 17:49, 6 June 2013 (UTC)

The WMF has yet to record receipt of your ID per the first requirement. While you do technically meet the requirement for an account of at least 6 months age the claim to much anonymous experience prior to last month is hard to verify without asking that you violate your privacy. Four years ago i was in a similar situation so i know it is possible. I will be blunt and point out that assessing requests for accounts can be a work of fine details and missing the first requirement for qualifying isn't exactly the best footing to start from. While you have done a lot of reverting vandalism and warnings you don't have that much recorded interaction with new users with accounts. Perhaps take some free time and see if there is anything that merits reporting to wikipedia:usernames for administrator attention. We do a fair amount with the user name policy and that is one way to familiarise yourself with it. delirious & lost~hugs~ 04:05, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Thank you so much for the information. I will try to report some usernames that violate the policy. I am familiar with the related policies and to seem to meet those requirements. Nevertheless I will find some spare time to find some username violations. FalkirksTalk 13:33, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
You seem to have found a few inappropriate user names in the last day or two. You forgot to make use of the "reason" portion of the template: {{subst:Uw-username|Reason}}. You do to meet all of the other requirements however you appear to have yet to submit your ID for m:Identification noticeboard and it is very much mandatory. If you could give some indication of when or if you will be sending that it would be good to know. If you submitted a photocopy in the mail that might also be a reason for the delay. delirious & lost~hugs~ 08:16, 14 June 2013 (UTC)
Yes I will start to use the reason variable as for the identification I still need to get around to sending a copy. FalkirksTalk 04:19, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

it's not vandalism. please see notes left on jim1138's page if you have any confusion. "radical feminism" is defined as a subset of feminism primarily focusing on patriarchy. marcotte self-identifies as a radical feminist. i don't really see what the problem is here.

I am sorry for this issue. I was using stiki an anti vandalism tool and I am very new to it. This won't happen again. Please sign your comments with ~~~~. Again I am very sorry this happened and I will make sure it never happens in future. FalkirksTalk 23:08, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

Request: if you see a recent warning on a user talk page, especially on the same article, please up the level by one? Of course, be careful first. For info see: Wikipedia:Vandalism#Warnings and Wikipedia:Cleaning up vandalism. Thanks for taking the time to clean things up! Cheer Jim1138 (talk) 23:29, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

That is what I have been attempting to do. I will be more diligent about this in future. Thanks for the request. FalkirksTalk 23:31, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

undone edit

Erm, If you think that a hyperlink to a website that doesn't exist is better, that's fine....

It was about myself, by the way - I'm both referenced and linked to in the article... PaulNeeds 20:16, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Okay then. I have no way of proving this. FalkirksTalk 20:25, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Quite straightforward.

i) Check what my name is ii) Click the link to Paul Needs Music website - where does it go?

My amended link went to a) a webpage that EXISTS and b) one within Wikipedia!! Not rocket science to check those out BEFORE reverting the edit!?! — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaulNeeds (talkcontribs) 22:33, 11 June 2013 (UTC)

Actually it isn't that straightforward please think on two things. Firstly I could create an account with anyone's name and host a completely unsourced description of what is presumably myself. Secondly please check out this. FalkirksTalk 22:40, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Just takes a moment's thought to see that a link to a persons music site and a link to a new wiki entry about a person with the same name coud be the same, and that an email to check before deleting a new link and reinstating a link that goes nowhere would be a more sensible and certainly more courteous approach...
And I have checked that out prior to my making my personal wiki user page, rather than a main topic entry - which is why it is brief rather than advertising everything I have done, which would have been much easier. — Preceding unsigned comment added by PaulNeeds (talkcontribs) 23:12, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
I am sorry for my bad manners previously I never intended to be uncivil. Your user page is unsourced and just contains what the initial article should contain. I suggest moving the content from your user page to the appropriate article and provide sources. It just seems redundant to have two separate pages.. FalkirksTalk 23:19, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
Thanks for your suggestion - I will attempt to do that tomorrow. Cheers.

Signature

offtopic - The preload thing is cool. I may just steal it.

ontopic - In quite a few browsers, mostly old, and mobile devices the shadow around your sig won't show up. This leaves your signature as pure white, which coincidentally is the background color of a page. If possible, could you maybe do something about it? Maybe have colors instead of white/gray? :)

Charmlet (talk) 05:04, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

I was just thinking about the second one. I will update my signature soon. FalkirksTalk 05:06, 12 June 2013 (UTC)
No biggie :) Thanks. Just saw you around the help desk on my mobile and thought "all white signature, hmmph". Charmlet (talk) 05:14, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:IOS 7 screenshot.jpg)

Thanks for uploading File:IOS 7 screenshot.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Your request for rollback

Hi Falkirks. After reviewing your request for rollback, I have enabled rollback on your account. Keep in mind these things when going to use rollback:

  • Getting rollback is no more momentous than installing Twinkle.
  • Rollback should be used to revert clear cases of vandalism only, and not good faith edits.
  • Rollback should never be used to edit war.
  • If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
  • Use common sense.

If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! Beeblebrox (talk) 23:26, 14 June 2013 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:ITunes Radio Screenshot.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:ITunes Radio Screenshot.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. czar · · 07:16, 16 June 2013 (UTC)

New to Wikipedia!

Hello! I noticed that you are a host in the Teahouse. I was hoping you might give me some pointers on how to become more involved? I'm very green when it comes to contributing to the site, and so I want to ensure that any changes that I make occur democratically through discussion. I know that the talk pages are designed for people to discuss possible changes, but a lot of the content on those pages seems disjointed and not really connected...what's the best way to engage with others on the site? I've joined a task force (by adding my name) but I'm not sure what that even means. How do I reach out to people with similar interests through wikipedia??? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

Jamodalamo (talk) 03:19, 26 June 2013 (UTC)

I think joining a task force or a project as you did is a smart idea. Task forces will publish lists of articles needing improvement and other jobs that fall under their subject. You should also remember to be bold and if you think something improves an article add it. Another editor can always fix things up later. I am a member of a few projects but most of my work is reverting vandalism and helping new users. Projects help connect you with people doing the same stuff and you can share a list of stuff that needs done. Any more questions? FalkirksTalk 17:26, 27 June 2013 (UTC)
