Hi

[edit]

Thanks for the welcome. I am not actually completely new to Wikipedia as I have been making edits for a while and my IP address seems to change frequently. I have not created an account yet but may be convinced to create one soon.

I noticed that you reverted my 4im warning to the vandal on List of prison deaths, so does this mean that I was too severe? Have I been too severe with other user warnings too?

Thanks for the welcome again! 174.138.193.65 (talk) 21:21, 21 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Yes, I considered the use of 4im on a first offense to be too severe. According to Wikipedia:WikiProject_user_warnings/Usage_and_layout#Multi-level_templates_for_vandalism, in general vandalism warnings should start with a level 1, 2, or 3 template depending on how blatant the vandalism is (although I personally will start with 1 in almost all cases). That page is not very clear on the appropriate use of 4im warnings to me, although personally I would use them if someone continues to vandalize after a previous block. Also, I would indeed strongly suggest making an account if you are interesting in fighting vandalism, since with an account you will be able to use tools such as Twinkle and Rollback (in the case of Rollback it must be requested at WP:PERM and an admin will likely look for a large volume of vandalism reverts on an account before granting it) to quickly revert vandalism. Module:TimeAgo

[edit]

Hi FunPika, and thanks for writing Module:TimeAgo! I've put it up live, so your code is now being used in 120,000 pages. I did tweak a couple of things - see the page history for my comments. If any of the comments aren't clear, please feel free to ask me about them. Also, be careful about leaving whitespace in the template invocation - in this revision of the sandbox you left a line break between #invoke and the noinclude tags, and that was included in the template output. But I really couldn't find much to complain about in your code - thank you for helping to further the Lua cause, and let me know if you have any questions about converting templates in the future. :) — Mr. Stradivarius ♪ talk ♪ 04:06, 24 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]
