Non-free use disputed for File:Davidrstokesbook.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Davidrstokesbook.jpg. Unfortunately, I think that you have not provided a proper rationale for using this image under "fair use". Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page. Note that the image description page must include the exact name or a link to each article the image is used in and a separate rationale for each one. (If a link is used, automated processes may improperly add the related tag to the image. Please change the fair use template to refer to the exact name, if you see this warning.)
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted after seven days according to our Criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 08:42, 14 September 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Conscious methods.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Conscious methods.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 05:00, 19 September 2011 (UTC)

[edit]An image or media file,File:Marriage Fitness Book Cover.jpg, has been removed from your userpage, user talk page, or other page because it was licensed as non-free. Wikipedia's non-free policy states that Copyrighted images under fair use are only allowed to be used in articles about the subject of the image, and only if no free equivalent is available. For example they are not allowed to be used on user pages, in lists, or (typically) in biographies of living people. As a result, although users are often given a great amount of latitude in the type of content that is allowed on their user pages, it is requested that you abide by this policy. Feel free, however, to add images and media files licensed under other terms. For more information, see Wikipedia's non-free content policy and an accompanying essay on the removal of non-freeimages. Further use of these images will be considered vandalism, and shall be treated as such. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. Acather96 (talk) 16:48, 28 September 2011 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (File:RolledUpLogo.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:RolledUpLogo.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 22:11, 25 October 2011 (UTC)
Copyvio at File:Clif Bar.jpg
[edit]Hi, I reverted your upload at File:Clif Bar.jpg. While it's definitely nicer quality than my original photo and you claimed it was your "personal photo", it's clearly a copyright violation from the official Clif Bar website: http://www.clifbar.com/food/products/ (the shading and indentations in the packaging are identical). Please don't make false claims when it comes to copyrighted images. This is a serious policy that needs to be upheld on WP. SheepNotGoats (talk) 14:45, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
Okay, got it. But your photo is inaccurate, as the packaging has recently changed. If I were to post a photo of the new packaging that I took with my own camera, would that work? Seriously, thanks for clarifying this.--Artie04 (talk) 19:36, 31 October 2011 (UTC)
- I like the new photo a lot, very crisp and clear. So is that flavor any good? I've only had the chocolate chip, chocolate brownie, and peanut butter, and I really only liked the chocolate chip one. SheepNotGoats (talk) 21:11, 2 November 2011 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of File:Conscious-Methods.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Conscious-Methods.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image appears to be a blatant copyright infringement. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted images or text borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. File permission problem with File:Robert Uhlmann at piano.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Robert Uhlmann at piano.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. We hope (talk) 18:52, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
Removing tags
[edit]Please do not remove tags from files as you did with File:Robert Uhlmann at piano.jpg. The information has to be filed as shown above with OTRS or the file may be deleted because it is non free/fair use and only free use photos are allowed for living persons. We hope (talk) 20:44, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
OTRS for photo
[edit]You need to work with OTRS as shown in the instructions above in File permission problem with File:Robert Uhlmann at piano.jpg. In order to use the file, Wikipedia needs a record of the permission to use it here. Either you or Mr. Uhlmann should get in touch with them by e-mail as shown above. After that process has been started, you can tag the photo with the OTRS Pending tag that's linked in the notice above. After OTRS has verified the information sent to them by e-mail, someone from OTRS will take care of the rest of what's needed with the photo file. Hope this helps! We hope (talk) 21:20, 14 December 2011 (UTC)
File problems
[edit]I just cleaned them both up. All that's needed is a non free book cover license. Where it looks like the "no permission" may have gotten in there is because you used two licenses--the non free book cover and Creative Commons 3.0, which basically says that you are the creator of photo and you are allowing others to use it.
Many times people believe if they take a photo of something like a branded product or a scan of it, since they created the image, that image is now a free use one and it can be licensed as free use. That's wrong because there is still a person or company with rights to the object they took the scan or photo of. Any book covers in future would need just the non free book cover license. We hope (talk) 18:09, 15 December 2011 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Gregory Scott Cummins Football.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:Gregory Scott Cummins Football.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. We hope (talk) 21:24, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

- Can you contact someone and ask for permission to use the photo? Then you could file an OTRS ticket on it. We hope (talk) 21:41, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for helping! My understanding had been that press kit photos -- such as this one -- were allowed in Wikipedia articles, especially when they illustrated a pertinent part of an article's discussion. I could contact the subject of the article, who provided me with the press kit -- is it his permission that is required? (I had assumed that, by sending me the press kit, he had implied his permission.) Expewikiwriter (talk) 21:49, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
You're right--his permission is needed and can be done through e-mail if you like. We need to have some written record of the person granting permission for a photo to be used and this is where OTRS comes in. I'd read the page about requesting permission and do what's suggested there. Then you can put an OTRS template on the photo so it won't be deleted while the OTRS work is done. Someone from OTRS will take care of the rest after the paperwork is done. We hope (talk) 22:23, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Repost of Etienne Sin
[edit] A tag has been placed on Etienne Sin requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion process. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, contest the deletion by clicking on the button that looks like this: which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's discussion directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Administrators will consider your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please contact the administrator who deleted the page or use deletion review instead of recreating the page. Thank you. — CactusWriter (talk) 17:21, 19 March 2012 (UTC)

The article Stone Bridge Homes NW has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable builder. "Awards" are non-notable - especially "6th place" locally. Reads like an advert.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. (talk→ BWilkins ←track) 13:51, 29 March 2012 (UTC)
About edit summaries
[edit] Hi there. When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field. If you are adding a section, please do not just keep the previous section's header in the Edit summary field – please fill in your new section's name instead. Thank you. For your consideration
[edit]Certainly it's not possible for you to know the intent of any author. This account has been deemed in violation of one or more Wikipedia policies and has been cancelled as punishment. But the articles written by the account holders (several authors contributed Wikipedia articles through this one account) should be judged on their own merits (is the article spam? is the article objectively written? is the article sufficiently supported by legitimate secondary sources?). It appears that a few expewikiwriter articles have been indiscriminately deleted or tagged for the purpose of rendering punishment on the account holder(s). Please consider the following:
- Harold J. Morowitz - The subject is a leading, and internationally known, scientist. The author of this article is a published researcher and professional associate of a colleague of Dr. Morowitz. Please judge for yourselves, but it would appear that the article meets all standards for a Wikipedia article on a living person, and should not be tagged.
- 2tor, Inc. - Covered extensively in the national press, this company is one of the most important players in online education. No less than 4 experienced Wikipedia authors collaborated on this article. Because it had been posted and removed once before (please see the record), all due care was taken to make sure that this article would meet Wikipedia standards. In particular, care was taken to write it OBJECTIVELY and NEUTRALLY, and to support EVERY fact and detail with a legitimate reference source. Please review and decide whether this article should have been summarily removed and please consider re-establishing it in Wikipedia.
- Joseph Lani - After hearing Lani on national late night talk radio for the third or fourth time (he is a familiar radio guest to late night talk radio fans), the author of this article decided that Lani deserved a presence on Wikipedia. The author did research, found articles, and wrote the article. Expewikiwriter (talk) 13:41, 31 March 2012 (UTC)

If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - At least a dozen editors are working to clean up after this idiot/group of idiots. Although I'm encouraging the following of policy regarding the deletion and/or cleanup of the content this person has contributed, the editor(s) him-/her-/themselves don't need to be enouraged by giving them that sort of attention. Valfontis (talk) 17:12, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- This isn't a vandal who was working for attention. It was likely a paid editor who was working for a salary. That kind of individual is part of the ecosystem of editors and we must understand what motivates them, what they know and don't know, and why they chose the path they did. It's not mere attention to interview an assumed wrongdoer, it's also valuable research. Not to draw any parallels at all, but some of the world's foremost criminologists and psychologists interview serial killers. They do it to understand, not to promote. Same here. Ocaasi t | c 19:43, 3 April 2012 (UTC)
- Actually it's a group of editors using a shared account (they admitted this themselves) that has been blocked for socking using several accounts. If you wish to interview them, I can't stop you of course, they are free to contact you. I'm done commenting here (I'll get uncivil if I continue). Good luck. Copyright violation
[edit]Your addition to Gregory Scott Cummins has been removed, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other websites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of article content such as sentences or images. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. The article contained whole paragraphs from http://www.gregoryscottcummins.com/bio.html - the lead paragraph, for instance, was heavily based on the last paragraph from there. Worse, this information was provably false. 86.** IP (talk) 10:38, 2 May 2012 (UTC)
Hi there, I'm HasteurBot. I just wanted to let you know that Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rolled Up, a page you created has not been edited in at least 180 days. The Articles for Creation space is not an indefinite storage location for content that is not appropriate for articlespace. If your submission is not edited soon, it could be nominated for deletion. If you would like to attempt to save it, you will need to improve it. You may request Userfication of the content if it meets requirements. If the deletion has already occured, instructions on how you may be able to retrieve it are available at WP:REFUND/G13. Thank you for your attention. HasteurBot (talk) 19:51, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello Expewikiwriter. It has been over six months since you last edited your article submission, entitled Rolled Up.
The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply {{db-afc}}
or {{db-g13}}
code. Please note, however, that Articles for Creation is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.
If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Rolled Up}}
, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.
Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 16:02, 21 September 2013 (UTC)
