The Tea Leaf - Issue Seven
Hello again! We have some neat updates about the Teahouse:
- We’ve added badges! Teahouse awards is a pilot project to learn how acknowledgement impacts engagement and retention in Teahouse and Wikipedia.
- We’ve got a new WikiLove Badge script that makes giving badges quick and easy. Add it here. You can give out badges to thank helpful hosts, welcome guests, acknowledge great questions and more.

Avoiding fluff

Just wanted to drop you a quick note about this edit in Windows 8 article: In Wikipedia, we avoid fluff, words that make no sense and just add to the sentence length. This is important, because removing fluff is one of the many requirements of a Featured Article. You can take this exercise to learn about removing such words.
In your edit "in order" and "must" are fluff. (Actually, "must" is grammatically wrong because the sentence previously says "Microsoft requires". Only one of them must exist.) What is the difference between "in order to" and "to"? Nothing! "In order to" unnecessarily longer.

- Just a note, edits like this are really inappropriate. Lisa came here to provide information and extend a helping hand, and you slapped that same hand. It is fine to disagree with someone, and to even tell them, but you might try a bit harder to be less disagreeable when you do. And so you understand, the editors at Wikipedia do care about fluff. - I believe you. And you might be right about them, and Lisa might be wrong, I really don't know. From what I know of Lisa, if you calmly discuss it with her, she will listen. That is all I'm trying to encourage, discussion instead of yelling at each other. Sometimes, we all can bump heads here, we are human. But we should try to calmly discuss our differences, and be willing to listen and learn. I learn something new every day here, and I'm an admin with 38000 edits, and I have a long way to go to learn it all. Please note that WP:TWINKLE is a tool primarily for reverting vandalism. It should not be used to revert edits without an edit summary unless they are clearly unconstructive. There is no need to mention video game walkthroughs in the WP:LEAD, because it is unsourced and there are many different types of videos on YouTube (eg people doing recipes is common, but this is not mentioned in the lead section either). If you disagree with an edit, the talk page is the place to go, not Twinkle.--♦IanMacM♦ (talk to me) 20:56, 20 September 2013 (UTC)
