Thanks for working on roller skating

[edit]

I just wanted to say thank you for your recent work on the article Roller skating. It was a good decision to add a photo gallery, cleaning up the image-heavy article, and to find more recent photos to include in it. Thanks also for linking to Fred Murree; I've long been meaning to include a reference to him in the article somewhere, but I never got around to it. I appreciate your work! Jno.skinner (talk) 17:50, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jno.skinner, thank you so much for your kind note! It's a pleasure to make an acquaintance and I appreciate you noticing my work. I remember my informational excitement when I saw the fascinating Fred Murree article, having come across it in the list of American roller skaters (I had been browsing the list in order to create a roller skating portal, now in my sandbox). I thought it was a fascinating article and wonderfully composed.
I appreciate your commendation of the photo gallery! There really are so many global events and things to see regarding the sport, and I am very happy to hear you appreciated my attempt at collecting diverse illustrations of the activity. I believe there are always more ways to continue improving an article, so I'll be continuing to refine it as time goes on.
My current obsession with c. 1979 disco music has led to my fascination with the roller disco, as well as rinks and movies related to the subject, so you may see me continue writing or significantly expanding similar roller-disco-focused articles (such as Jim Bray, Bill Butler, Roll-A-Palace, and Empire Roller Rink).
Again, I truly appreciate your kind notes and thanks again for stopping by! Evedawn99 (talk) 21:17, 10 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Terumi Tanaka, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page ICAN.

Hi, in 2022, you added this paragraph to Super Mario World (TV series), where you cite this article (archived version for accessibility) for the statement "The show produced multiple internet memes, most notably "Mama Luigi", referencing Luigi's quote in the 1991 episode of the same name." I believe the cited article does not at all support this claim, especially not the stuff about "Mama Luigi" (that term appears only once in that piece inside another title, and the specific episode or the referenced quote is not mentioned either afaics). Perhaps you meant to cite a different source there. Could you please take a look at it again and if you agree with my assessment, look for a source supporting the claim(s) or remove the sentence? Thanks! Felida97 (talk) 12:27, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks, Felida! Indeed, I agree with your assessment, and I appreciate your note. I have since found a description of that particular internet meme in Eurogamer, as well as another source that includes mention of the meme, so the sentence now has 3 sources supporting the claim. I appreciate your scrutiny and careful attention to the citation, and thanks for bringing this to my attention. Evedawn99 (talk) 15:53, 7 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for swiftly adding the additional sources (especially the EuroGamer ref)! However, since we agree that the source I mentioned doesn't support the statement: When I left you the message, I was already thinking that it may have been placed after that statement by accident and you actually meant to place it after the previous sentence (because the source does support the claim(s) therein). I have just moved it accordingly, I hope that's alright. Thanks again :) Felida97 (talk) 13:27, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Wonderful! Your work is much appreciated. Thanks for making the move and so glad this interesting fact can remain in the article. It's certainly alright, and I appreciate your attention to detail. Hope to see you around television-related articles soon! :) Evedawn99 (talk) 23:39, 25 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Roll-A-Palace

[edit]

Hi there! I see you've started the Roll-A-Palace article, and I've made some improvements to the references. Could you please update references 5, 10, & 12 to include more information about the magazine articles, such as the title of each article, the issue date, and the page numbers? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:09, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Could you also please do the same for reference #5 in the Roller disco article? Thanks! GoingBatty (talk) 20:22, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hi GoingBatty, thank you so much for taking a look at the Roll-A-Palace and Roller disco articles! I truly appreciate your improvements to the references!
Regarding the title/date/pages - Unfortunately, I am finding these via Google Books search, and very often, I am only allotted a "Snippet View" preview containing a paragraph or so of text. Usually, these restrict me from seeing the title.
However, I was able to go back and cleverly use Google Books search to find the article titles and pages for some of these as best I can! I was able to do this for 5, 10, and 12 as well as 5 on Roller disco.
I'm so glad you're taking a look at these. Thanks again! Evedawn99 (talk) 20:29, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for fixing reference #5 in the Roll-A-Palace article. Could you please add the full date for the magazine issue? I don't see the magazine article titles and dates for references #10 and #12 yet.
I see you updated reference #5 in the Roller disco article, and I changed it from {{cite book}} to {{cite magazine}}. Could you please add the full date for the magazine issue?
Could you please also update reference #11 for the Empire Roller Disco article. Thanks, and happy editing! GoingBatty (talk) 20:43, 3 January 2025 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion nomination of Jim Bray

[edit]

Hello, Evedawn99,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Miminity and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, Jim Bray, for deletion, because a consensus decision previously decided that it wasn't suitable for inclusion in the encyclopedia. If you wish to restore a page deleted via a deletion discussion, please use the deletion review process instead, rather than reposting the content of the page.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Miminity}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!
