Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. 2019 FIBA Europe Cup Finals moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2019 FIBA Europe Cup Finals, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 BSL Playoffs, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Sakarya (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

Team categories for basketball players

[edit]

Hi - I just removed a category “Brose Bamberg players” from the article Paris Lee. Team categories aren’t added until the player appears in a regulation game (so exhibitions or preseason games don’t count) for the team, not when they sign. The start of the BBL season is a few months off. Please do not add these categories until the player appears for their new team. Thanks Rikster2 (talk) 14:52, 16 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, Erincoktem. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2019 FIBA Europe Cup Finals".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

The subject doesn't meet WP:NBASKETBALL because the BSL doesn't appear to be a listed league. Searching online, I was only able to find trivial coverage, but I was able to find a lot of trivial coverage and I bet someone more familiar with Turkish sports journalism could find sources to meet GNG.

Ways to improve Doruk Dora

[edit]

Hello, Erincoktem,

Thank you for creating Doruk Dora.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The references for this basketball player are stats. Wikipedia is not a stats directory. This article does not meet notability for sports, nor basketball, nor biography of living persons.

What is needed are references from significant coverage about the topic of the article, and independent of it, in multiple secondary sources which are WP:RS; that is your guide. You may also read WP:PRIMARY which details the limited permitted usage of primary sources. A more comprehensive guide is WP:SOURCES ... Providing sufficient references, ideally one per fact referred to, that meet these tough criteria is likely to allow this article to remain. Lack of them or an inability to find them is likely to mean that the topic is not suitable for inclusion. Kindly do the needful. Thank you.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Whiteguru}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Thank you for creating BNXT League Dream Team.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

This article only has one reference (insufficient for NSPORT) and needs additional references for notability.
More importantly, this article is missing prose, which means it fails notability for sports seasons. League and Division season articles should consist mainly of well-sourced prose, not just statistics and lists of players. Wikipedia is not a stats directory. See WP:NSEASONS for guidance. Failing this notability guide, this article may be redirected to the main League or Division page. An example is LSU Tigers football Another excellent example is 2022–23 North Carolina Tar Heels men's basketball team or 1987–88 AEK Athens F.C. season.

Ways to improve BNXT League Rising Star of the Year

[edit]

Hello, Erincoktem,

Thank you for creating BNXT League Rising Star of the Year.

An article you recently created, Manisa Büyükşehir Belediyespor, is not suitable as written to remain published. Invitation to join New pages patrol

[edit]

Hello Erincoktem!

  • The New Pages Patrol is currently struggling to keep up with the influx of new articles needing review. We could use a few extra hands to help.
  • We think that someone with your activity and experience is very likely to meet the guidelines for granting.
  • Reviewing/patrolling a page doesn't take much time, but it requires a strong understanding of Wikipedia’s CSD policy and notability guidelines.
  • Kindly read the tutorial before making your decision, and feel free to post on the project talk page with questions.
  • If patrolling new pages is something you'd be willing to help out with, please consider applying here.

Thank you for your consideration. We hope to see you around!

New page reviewer granted

[edit]

Hi Erincoktem. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group. Please check back at the permissions page in case your user right is time-limited or probationary. This user group allows you to review new pages through the Curation system and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or nominate them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is vital to maintaining the integrity of the encyclopedia. If you have not already done so, you must read the tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the deletion policy. If you need any help or want to discuss the process, you are welcome to use the new page reviewer talk page or ask via the NPP Discord. In addition, please remember:

  • Be nice to new editors. They are usually not aware that they are doing anything wrong. Do make use of the message feature when tagging pages for maintenance so that they are aware.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted. Please be formal and polite in your approach to them – even if they are not.
  • If you are not sure what to do with a page, don't review it – just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Accuracy is more important than speed. Take your time to patrol each page, including checking for copyright violations using Earwig's copyright violation detector, checking for duplicate articles, and evaluating sources (both in the article, and if needed, via a Google search) for compliance with the general notability guideline.
  • Please review some of our flowcharts (1, 2) to help ensure you don't forget any steps.
  • Use the message feature to communicate with article creators and offer advice as much as possible.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you also may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In cases of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, or long-term inactivity, the right may be withdrawn at administrator discretion. If you can read any languages other than English, please add yourself to the list of new page reviewers with language proficiencies. –Novem Linguae (talk) 06:37, 7 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]

New Pages Patrol newsletter April 2024

[edit]

Hello Erincoktem,

New Page Review queue January to March 2024

Backlog update: The October drive reduced the article backlog from 11,626 to 7,609 and the redirect backlog from 16,985 to 6,431! Congratulations to Schminnte, who led with over 2,300 points.

Following that, New Page Patrol organized another backlog drive for articles in January 2024. The January drive started with 13,650 articles and reduced the backlog to 7,430 articles. Congratulations to JTtheOG, who achieved first place with 1,340 points in this drive.

Looking at the graph, it seems like backlog drives are one of the only things keeping the backlog under control. Another backlog drive is being planned for May. Feel free to participate in the May backlog drive planning discussion.

It's worth noting that both queues are gradually increasing again and are nearing 14,034 articles and 22,540 redirects. We encourage you to keep contributing, even if it's just a single patrol per day. Your support is greatly appreciated!

2023 Awards

Onel5969 won the 2023 cup with 17,761 article reviews last year - that's an average of nearly 50/day. There was one Platinum Award (10,000+ reviews), 2 Gold Awards (5000+ reviews), 6 Silver (2000+), 8 Bronze (1000+), 30 Iron (360+) and 70 more for the 100+ barnstar. Hey man im josh led on redirect reviews by clearing 36,175 of them. For the full details, see the Awards page and the Hall of Fame. Congratulations everyone for their efforts in reviewing!

WMF work on PageTriage: The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers deployed the rewritten NewPagesFeed in October, and then gave the NewPagesFeed a slight visual facelift in November. This concludes most major work to Special:NewPagesFeed, and most major work by the WMF Moderator Tools team, who wrapped up their major work on PageTriage in October. The WMF Moderator Tools team and volunteer software developers will continue small work on PageTriage as time permits.

Recruitment: A couple of the coordinators have been inviting editors to become reviewers, via mass-messages to their talk pages. If you know someone who you'd think would make a good reviewer, then a personal invitation to them would be great. Additionally, if there are Wikiprojects that you are active on, then you can add a post there asking participants to join NPP. Please be careful not to double invite folks that have already been invited.

Reviewing tip: Reviewers who prefer to patrol new pages within their most familiar subjects can use the regularly updated NPP Browser tool.

September 2024

[edit]

Information icon Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into Manisa Basket. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases for registered users, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:16, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Note that I found a couple more cut and paste moves from the past. I've merged the history from Ragip Atar to Berke Atar and from Socar Petkim S.K. to Petkim Spor. Hey man im josh (talk) 15:23, 20 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hi, Thank you for your inputs and explanations @Hey man im josh...

Please stop adding team categories until a player has appeared in a regulation game for the club

[edit]

Please stop adding team categories (Such asCategory:JL Bourg Basket players) to articles until a player has appeared in a regulation game for the club. I see that I made this request to you a few years ago on your Talk page as well. Consensus is that the categories are not added upon signing, but upon playing a game. Rikster2 (talk) 22:08, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Interesting. At Wikipedia:WikiProject Football being contracted to a club is sufficient. For footballers, we add league categories once players have made an appearance in the league. Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 22:41, 25 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, the standard is different for basketball. Otherwise we would have a ton of players in these categories who never make it to the floor for a team. A large number of players are signed and released during train8ng camp or because a better fee agent becomes available. Perhaps that is not as common in football. Rikster2 (talk) 02:32, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Rikster2 @Robby.is.on, sorry but I'm more than aware about this rule in Wikipedia, since I spend a lot of time here and made several edits.
I added Categories for all these players, while yesterday and day before they played their first regulation games in Eurocup. So this is the first "official" game of the season, not a friendly game and I'm very surprised somebody spend such a huge effort to remove my edits, and this is a hugh non-sense.
Maybe you are not aware, but in Europe, some players are just contracted for playing European compotetions but not even a single domestic games, this means from your perspective these players are not counted under the categories rules.
I hope there is an easy way to fix what you have done to remove my effort. Erincoktem (talk) 06:08, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
yes, I can revert my changes. My recommendation would be to use edit summaries when adding the category - something simple like “EuroCup debut.” This is the time of year when some leagues have started and others haven’t so not everyone keeps tabs of exactly when each of the hundreds of leagues in the world start. Rikster2 (talk) 16:22, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Than, please revert them, I didn't add any Categories, for a player who didn't play any "official game" with his new club.
Thanks in advance for reverting your changes. Erincoktem (talk) 17:08, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I already did it before you posted that. Rikster2 (talk) 06:02, 27 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Each article review will earn 1 point, while each redirect review will earn 0.2 points.
  • Streak awards will be given out based on consistently hitting point thresholds for each week of the drive.
  • Barnstars will also be granted for re-reviewing articles previously reviewed by other patrollers during the drive.
