Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Google Fuchsia, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Android. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Unfortunately, I don't have any SVG software (per WP:ACCESS, it shouldn't be a requirement). As such, my PNG image was of lower resolution was uploaded, and it is more compliant with WP:IMAGERES than yours (which has a lot of blank space on either side). I hope you understand Tom Danson (talk) 17:38, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

@Tom Danson: There are a lot and a lot of discussion on Wikipedia about if SVG Logos are allowed or should it be used over SVG, and there are no clear consensus. I would like to point out that according to those discussions, WP:LOGO used to disallow SVG use, but has since removed that restriction; and there are also plenty of articles using SVG logos instead of raster ones; and There was/were logos that had raster version deleted and SVG versions kept. Therefore my position is still per WP:USOP the SVG version should be used. However, I am keeping an open mind as to which to be used and a consensus. For now, I will not revert your edit unless a consensus in favour of using the SVG version is made. Emphrase - 💬 | 📝 17:50, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
But you didn't answer my WP:IMAGERES question...if you re-upload your SVG version to be the size of my image, I'll drop the issue altogether. Sound like a deal? Tom Danson (talk) 18:04, 8 June 2017 (UTC)
But even if I reduce the size of my SVG, I myself wouldn't consider the WP:IMAGERES issue solved, since SVG is a vector format, and it doesn't really have a "resolution" per se, and is infinitely scalable. Emphrase - 💬 | 📝 18:06, 8 June 2017 (UTC)

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on User:Emphrase/Human requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Human. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:06, 31 August 2018 (UTC)

Encyclopaedic tone

I have removed the tag about tone at Daniel Dancer. I have a degree in English from a university in England; I have many books to my name; I have had two years experience of editing and rewriting an encyclopaedia (in Taiwan as it happens): therefore as a fellow editor I met your assumption of bad faith with one of my own. The guidelines you quoted on reverting again covered only one tag, which I have left in place. Sweetpool50 (talk) 11:35, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

@Sweetpool50: I apologise if this counts as assuming bad faith. I happened to stumble upon Daniel Dancer and saw the inconsistent citation style, and I thought that the section heading "A strange and unaccountable life" is not encyclopedic tone, hence I added those two maintanance tags. I did not mean any harm or meant to accuse or allege other editors of editing the article in that way delibrately out of bad faith, but if from your perspective it seems that I assumed bad faith by adding the two maintainance tags and walking away, again I apologise. I do understand that not improving the article but simply adding the tags is a bit irresponsible, my intention was so that somebody will improve the mentioned aspects of the article. For the heading, I thought that from MOS:HEADING "Section headings should follow all of the guidance for article titles" meant that WP:TITLE applied as well, but turns out it does not currently. Nonetheless I thought the section title was not from a neutral point of view, not necessarily covered by WP:NPOV though, hence I used the unenyclopedic tone maintainace tag. Emphrase - 💬 / 📝 13:07, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Thank you for the explanation, Emphase. One can be too puritan about section headings, especially in insisting that guidance articles count as "rules". In this case, the title of one of the references for Dancer's biographical details (see the article's bibliography, and also the one listed below the DNB article that was originally cut and pasted as WP's) was being used as a section heading. I have now added quotation marks round the phrase to make clear this connection. I do also understand that the intention in noting inconsistent citation style was for other editors to pick up on and rectify, which is why I left it in place. There are editors who specialise in doing just that and hopefully they'll come across the tab. As you seem to realise, however, it might have been more helpful to do the job yourself but maybe you don't have the app that automates the process. I don't have it either.

The very first thing that was impressed on me by my section leader when I was working in Taiwan was not to cause suicide among fellow-editors by making them lose face in public. I am relieved that you have survived the psychic shock of being exposed to my short temper! Sweetpool50 (talk) 14:22, 2 October 2018 (UTC)

Replaceable fair use File:Basic Law of Hong Kong Cover.svg

Thanks for uploading File:Basic Law of Hong Kong Cover.svg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. 廣九直通車 (talk) 02:27, 28 August 2019 (UTC)
