Copying licensed material requires attribution

[edit]

Hi. I see in a recent addition to Pan-African Paediatric Surgical Association you included material from a webpage that is available under a compatible Creative Commons Licence. That's okay, but you have to give attribution so that our readers are made aware that you copied the prose rather than wrote it yourself. It's also required under the terms of the license. I've added the attribution for this particular instance. Please make sure that you follow this licensing requirement when copying from compatibly-licensed material in the future. — Diannaa (talk) 20:41, 22 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sure. I am still learning a lot here. Thank you for the valuable inforamtion Elmmag (talk) 15:50, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The page Sameh Shehata has been speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This was done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appeared to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appeared to be a direct copy from https://ima-edu.org/faculty/dr-sameh-shehata/ and https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26655212/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition has been be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Apologies. I am still learning here. I did some research and changed the wording to avoid plagiarism.
May I know which part exactly was incorrect? Elmmag (talk) 14:37, 26 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Minor edits

[edit]

Hi Elmmag,

I see you added a new section to the Nefertiti Bust page and marked this edit as "minor". I just wanted to let you know about minor edits. They are a very specific type of edit here on wiki. They are ones such as spelling corrections, little formatting fixes, reverting vandalism, etc, things that are not going to be disputed. Any edit that isn't this kind of thing is a "major" edit, such as the one you made over at Nefertiti Bust. Here is a link to WP:MINOR if you want to know more : ) Merytat3n (talk) 23:31, 19 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Gotcha. Thank you :) Elmmag (talk) 07:02, 20 August 2024 (UTC)[reply]
