Request to undelete a page
Hello,
You deleted the Performance (band) page I wrote and i didn't understand why at the time (i'm a newbie here so please bear with me...). I then made a request for undeletion and another admin explained me what was wrong with my article : the lack of reliable sources about the notability of the band. You can see the discussion here.
The deletion was under CSD A7 so my request for undeletion can't be processed.
Criteria 7 of the notability of a band can be met for them. I found better sources that shows of the notability of the band on the Manchester (UK) scene :
- BBC : "Having caused a storm when they blasted onto the local scene three years ago, they soon found themselves with a hefty record deal from a big label (...) they have finally produced an album befitting of a band who were championed by the NME and Peter Hook amongst others when they first appeared." (Peter Hook from Joy Division and New Order) http://www.bbc.co.uk/manchester/content/articles/2007/06/14/140607_performance_feature.shtml
- Manchester Evening News : "As the doorman says, 'It's a signed band tonight,' so six pounds is the cover to gain an audience with Manchester darlings, Performance, and it's a suitably small example of their gradual rise to fame." http://www.citylife.co.uk/music/reviews/14700_performance___music_box
- The Times : "Joe Stretch, singer with the newly signed Manchester band (We Are) Performance, is also a lecturer in modern literature and the pop lyric at Keele. He maintains that universities have a new role as guardians of pop" http://entertainment.timesonline.co.uk/tol/arts_and_entertainment/music/article5523220.ece
- The Guardian : Performance is a guest star of a music tour along with Peter Hook and Mike Joyce from The Smiths http://www.guardian.co.uk/enjoy-england/competition/manchester-music-tour
Furthermore, Joseph "Joe" Cross could fill the criteria to have his own wikipedia page as a musician because of his work as a composer and producer for The Sound of Arrows and Hurts and remixer for other major artists. Joe Stretch already have a wikipedia page. So it would lead to the kafkaesque situation where two member of a band are notable enough to deserve a page on wikipedia but not the band itself...
With these additional sources, would you consider to undelete this page?
NikoDisorder (talk) 21:18, 31 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi, sorry if I'm not understanding this correctly, but which refs show that this band "[h]as become one of the most prominent representatives of a notable style or the most prominent of the local scene of a city" as stated in criteria 7 of WP:BAND? The BBC ref says that they "blasted onto the local scene" but it says nothing about being "the most prominent of the local scene of a city". Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:38, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Where's That Template?
I noticed that you left messages at User talk:AdamHeller and User talk:Elektrik Band, which appear to be substituted templates. Could you point out where the master template is? I'm having trouble finding it. Thanks. Set Sail For The Seven Seas 356° 27' 0" NET 23:45, 1 November 2010 (UTC)
Marcus Jones
Me and user:Paralympiakos are currently involved in a discussion over whether the Marcus Jones article should be titled Marcus Jones (athlete) or Marcus Jones (fighter). I believe that the title should be "athlete" since he played six years in the NFL and is not only a fighter, while Paralympiakos believes the title should be "fighter" because he is more notable as a figher. I was just wondering what your opinion is and maybe help solve the issue.--Yankees10 23:40, 3 November 2010 (UTC)
- Replied on Paralympiakos's talk page. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:12, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
Request for Admin ship, RE:
In reply to the post on my talk,I will go through with my RFA page. I believe strongly that I know a lot about wikipedia, and I could be a asset to the organization. Please do not delete the page, and if I fail; I will try again some other time. I am determined. Thanks for the post, and i read the links you sent me. --StartrekismylifeJadzia (talk) 23:29, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
- I have already deleted your RfA. I will restore the page if you would like, but you will have to transclude it at WP:RFA if you want other users to !vote. Again, please know that you do not have a good chance at succeeding due to your low edit count and experience. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:32, 7 November 2010 (UTC)
I understand your concern. I strive to try my hardest, and make more edits and gain experience. --StartrekismylifeJadzia (talk) 01:11, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- So you have decided not to run? Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:13, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
No. I will continue to edit and stuff, and run later on this year. Thanks for your help, Captain Out... --StartrekismylifeJadzia (talk) 02:08, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
One more thing. I am pleased at your quick responses even on your "real life" vacation.
- Oops, forgot to remove that (got back this morning). Thanks for catching that. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:15, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Your welcome :D

Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/StartrekismylifeJadzia
Hi, how come you deleted Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/StartrekismylifeJadzia when the MFD for it decided to keep it only two days before? Graeme Bartlett (talk) 11:40, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- See User talk:Fastily#Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/StartrekismylifeJadzia and the above section. Generally, untranscluded RfAs are not kept on Wikipedia, and it really doesn't matter now since the user has decided against running. Eagles 24/7 (C) 15:26, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Lolz!
Hi
Thanks for the quick response to the edit request on 2006 Texas Longhorns football team - I must say your edit summaries made me lolz quite a bit :¬)
Chaosdruid (talk) 01:20, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- No problem, but that article still needs a lot of work. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:21, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- I was going to copyedit the game summaries as I was having difficulty seeing how they could be split off but decided that my knowledge of US football is too small being limited to sort of following the Miami Dolphins for a season and a half during the late 90s on UK TV late night shows.
- I suspect there is a reasonable amount of info that could be cut out though, in many places it is written more like a magazine/newspaper article than an encyclopaedic entry.
- For example in the Oklahoma section
- "The teams alternate home and away each year, and this year the Sooners played host. They occupied the bench under the press box and wore their red home jerseys while Texas will wore their all-white road uniforms. The stadium, as usual, was split down the 50-yard (46 m) line with Sooner fans sitting on the south side of mid-field. The division is visually striking with a difference in crowd noise levels from one end of the stadium to the other."
- Also things which seem more general and not really specifically about the particular 2006 season meet. This, I suppose, should be in a more general section about the whole season rather than in the Oklahoma game section-
- "With the two teams in the south division of the same conference, it is difficult for either team to win their half of the conference without winning this game although this did occur in the 2006 season. The winner of the game has a much greater chance to be the Big 12 South division champion and play in the Big 12 Championship Game at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The game often has national title implications as well. Since 1999, the winner in of this rivalry game has gone on to the BCS National Championship on 3 occasions, the Sooners in 2000 and 2004, and the Longhorns in 2005. Prior to the game, the sports line in Vegas casinos was 4 to 41/2 points with Texas the favorite.
- I will leave it as my knowledge is not great and fear any changes may have implications I may not have realised. Thanks once again for the work so far :¬)

A light at the end of the tunnel
Not sure if this page protection was a result of my request at WP:RPP or merely a coincidence; regardless, thank you. Cheers, --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 21:58, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- I just saw the news of his firing. Typically, big events like this (such as Heisman winning, Super Bowl winning, coach firing, etc.) get a ton of vandalism. Kind of a coincidence, but I commented at WP:RFPP anyway. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:01, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- It's certainly appreciated as the vandalism was piling up on itself. In cases where people are just using Huggle and such to revert, the multiple vandal hits are sometimes missed with only the most recent vandalism being reverted. Cheers again. --Jezebel'sPonyobons mots 22:04, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- A case like this is exactly why I wanted to become an admin. Too often, mass-vandalism to articles that occurs due to a very recent major event is unnoticed for hours. When Mark Ingram, Jr. won the Heisman last year, there had to be at least 100 counts of vandalism within a few hours. If you need anything else in the future, just message me here. AfDs
But that's not the end of the question. Have you checked for news coverage on the others to see if they have had non-trivial coverage sufficient to meet general notability standards? Cbl62 (talk) 22:46, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
Another possible redaction.
If only there was some tool that administrators could use just to identify vandal edits that add at least 400 KB (or in this case, 3.8 MB) to the page and immediately redact them in a similar ease to just pressing Q (with a different key, though). mechamind90 22:56, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- Do I even want to click the diff? Anyway, admins only have a couple tools non-admins don't have: block, delete, protect. And the ability to undo those three moves. I don't think there are any tools for that, although ClueBot is usually quick to revert edits like that. Huggle may also have a button for that, but I don't know. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:03, 8 November 2010 (UTC)
- So I take it you don't have a redaction tool? By the way, in case you didn't actually look at the diff, somebody presumably typed over 600,000 tildes, which all turned into time stamps (except the last one which turned into a user stamp. mechamind90 02:39, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

Eagles, please take a look at Jemalle Cornelius. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 13:15, 9 November 2010 (UTC)

SCWIST deletion
You deleted Society for Canadian Women in Science and Technology (http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Society_for_Canadian_Women_in_Science_and_Technology). I don't understand why this article is promotional when there are many others on wikipedia with the similar content. Article itself gives the mission, history and programs of the organization that is been around for 30 years. I would like to know how I can modify the article to be acceptable for wikipedia? Do you need some references and what sources are acceptable? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 18:05, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- I deleted the article because the consensus of the deletion discussion you have linked above was delete. The concerns brought up in the discussion were copyrighted text in the article, no reliable sources and an apparent conflict of interest with the creator of the article and a director of the organization. If you can provide reliable sources for this organization that assert its notability, I will restore the article. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:19, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
There is a book published that mentions SCWIST:Women in Biotechnology: Creating Interfaces By Francesca Molfino, Flavia Zucco. Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (http://www.apeg.bc.ca/students/elementaryhighschool/telementoring.html) and Immigrant Service Society of British Columbia (http://www.issbc.org/employers/mentoring/partners.htm) both acknowledge SCWIST mentorship programs. SCWIST is a registered charity (http://www.canadahelps.org/CharityProfilePage.aspx?CharityID=s28253). Let me know if this is enough. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 22:55, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry, but that is not enough. Being a registered charity is not enough to warrant notability, and the second source you provided only lists SCWIST in a list of mentor programs. The first source is okay, but according to WP:ORG#Primary criteria, more than one reliable source is needed for the notability criteria. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:08, 9 November 2010 (UTC)
Another try: a Canadian government organization that has SCWIST as a member: http://www.science.gc.ca/default.asp?lang=en&n=A3C3B8F6-1. The member profile has more details than APEGBC and ISSofBC sites: https://www.scienceandtechnologynetwork.ca/main/memberlist.php?org=79. Will some published newspaper article be more reliable source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 00:11, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
- The first source is a trivial mention as a list, but the second source is okay like the one I mentioned previously. If you can find newspaper articles that feature SCWIST, that would definitely help. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:36, 10 November 2010 (UTC)
This is what I found:
- http://www.govolunteer.ca/cgi-bin/page.cgi?_id=29&posting=11392
Let me know if this is enough. Thanks. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 17:26, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
- Again, these links are not enough. YouTube is not a reliable source, and a request for volunteers does not show notability. The first link is just like the previous ones mentioned, but it does not satisfy the statement at WP:ORG#Primary criteria which says "attention solely from local media, or media of limited interest and circulation, is not an indication of notability; at least one regional, national, or international source is necessary." Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:14, 15 November 2010 (UTC)

Volunteer Vancouver book “A People Lens: 101 Ways to Move Your Organization Forward” featured 3 SCWIST Volunteers. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 17:21, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
- A local news radio station and a book about local volunteer organizations do not satisfy the criteria I have listed above. If you want a second opinion on the deletion you can start a thread at WP:DRV, because I'm just not seeing the organization's notability. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:16, 16 November 2010 (UTC)
You have right. What can I achieve by starting the thread? CBC is a local news station for the whole Canada though. I guess an article in Vancouver Sun (local Vancouver newspaper) would not meet the criteria either. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.102.98.187 (talk) 01:14, 18 November 2010 (UTC)
- By starting the thread, you can view other administrators' opinions on the deletion. A deletion can be overturned by consensus at DRV, or it can stay deleted. Per CBC Radio One#CBC Radio One stations, there are many CBC Radio One stations for each region of Canada. The Vancouver Sun is the seventh largest newspaper in Canada, but if the organization just gets a brief, trivial mention in the paper it won't meet the WP:ORG criteria. However, if it gets a featured article in the newspaper, then it may meet WP:ORG. Eagles 24/7 (C) 01:45, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Auburn Tigers football
Eagles, I would be grateful if you would apply some level of protection to the "2010 Auburn Tigers football team" page. It suffered multiple vandalism edits by multiple IP and SPA users last night for a period of something like four hours, and again this morning. Given Auburn's BCS ranking and the ongoing controversy over Cam Newton, I suspect that we can expect increasingly nasty levels of vandalism and smack edits to this page. Probably should be protected through the end of the season, IMHO. Cam Newton's page, too, if it isn't already protected. Thanks. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 12:14, 11 November 2010 (UTC)

- I have converted the redirect to a disambiguation page that links to the previous redirection and the baseball player's current team. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:50, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- Sounds good, thanks.--Yankees10 22:53, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Question related to template translation
Hello! Me again. How can i translate this template (no google translator. that means autotranslate) in German language? Umutcan123456 talk 22:27, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- No idea. Try asking one of the editors listed at Wikipedia:Translators available. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:31, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
- By the way, you should fix your signature so the first part links to your userpage instead of User:Umutcan. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:32, 19 November 2010 (UTC)
Done. Linked. Umutcan123456 talk 22:43, 19 November 2010 (UTC)

Please Explain
Hello! Thanks for created to your own subpages. But your "Userfied Pages of Deleted Pages" must be split. Also, these not appears at the english articles, but still unknown because category means "Userfied Pages". please split the solve this problem. Or i create MfD Nomination. Such as this message removal not means to solve. Thank You Umutcan123456 talk 21:20, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- I have no idea what you are talking about by saying my subpages "must be split," but I take it you just don't understand what these subpages are. These articles were once deleted, but I wanted to work on them in case these players became notable in the future. There is no policy against this practice, so any MfD would likely result in "keep." Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:29, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
I don't think that is MfD results in "keep". Possibly "Delete" due related to WP:UP#COPIES. Also you have to solve this problem by
- To make split Like "Userfied Pages" and "Deleted Pages" or
- To make sure you will be explain to Discuss while your subpages is about to MfD Nomination, or
- To create this template. or
- To move to make a new article that he is named.
If you don't
- One of your page is in the MfD Nomination.
- Speedy deletion.
- Or i delete the one of your page due to WP:UP#COPIES.
Now you can the select to your choice. Also note that i urge when your contributions. I'll wait to your choice. Thank You. Umutcan123456 talk 21:44, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Hmmm... let's see. WP:UP#COPIES (a policy I showed you), does not apply here, because these pages do not currently exist in mainspace. Eagles 24/7 (C) 21:47, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
Then you have selected fourth choice.
- To move to make a new article that he is named.
Please apply this choice. Also what is means "rmy"? Note: I hope that you cannot delete the my new subpage /Userboxes. Subpage is coming soon! Umutcan123456 talk 21:54, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
- Uh, no, I'm not going to move the pages into mainspace right now. If I move them into mainspace they will be deleted for the same reasons they were deleted before. Eagles 24/7 (C) 22:00, 22 November 2010 (UTC)
mmmm.. Then improve! Did you read my message? Above to your answer. I'll create the new userboxes at /Userboxes. But page still exist yet! I'm imagine to create a my userbox first time, such as |This user is possesses emotions| box :D, with black-yellow colored. I'm saying once again. Improve first, then move the pages into the main space. If you have a problem, ask. Also you can help with professional administrators, if you want to more improving. I'm also support you to improve. When you are completed the one of your pages, then move into the new article. Therefore anyone can see your contributions, even to me. If anyone vandalize to your new article, make a full-protect (I'm not an administrator.). Thus you will be create a new article. Umutcan123456 talk 22:17, 22 November 2010 (UTC)

Move a page
Could you move Billy Joe Dupree to Billy Joe DuPree? Every place I can find says DuPree. Every one. It says I can't move it, so I'd have to ask an administrator. RevanFan (talk) 04:36, 24 November 2010 (UTC)
- I did some more searching. Most sources say DuPree, but some say Dupree. PFR, NFL.com, ESPN, Dallas Cowboys.com, etc. all say DuPree. RevanFan (talk) 04:38, 24 November 2010 (UTC)

Block review:User talk:Tomas Gilbfarb
Sorry not to have consulted you first, and perhaps I should, but taking into account the unblock request, I've reduced this to 24h as a first block, since I see it as an inexperienced editor getting frustrated and flying off the handle rather than a deliberate vandalism/disruption. If he had been given some constructive advice, rather than templates, perhaps we wouldn't be here. Time alone will tell, however, whether this is going to be a productive editor longterm. Rodhullandemu 23:48, 25 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the notification. Per the discussion at User talk:Wayne Olajuwon#User:Uncle Milty, it appears that this user may be abusing multiple accounts. I noticed that in his unblock request, Tomas made it a point to clear himself as just an editor to, and not the creator of, the Tebson article. ([1]) This attempt to clear himself in that aspect raises red flags that suggest he is, in fact, User:Tebsongay. Within 24 hours, an SPI will be filed for this user, so I don't think it really matters if he is blocked the second day or not. Eagles 24/7 (C) 23:53, 25 November 2010 (UTC)

Proper infobox
Eagles, what is the proper infobox to use for former college football players who never played a down in a regular season professional game? For example, former Gators wide receiver Carlos Alvarez. Clearly notable as a consensus All-American and SEC record-holder, but his knee injuries prevented him from playing in the NFL. Should we use one of the infoboxes for College football player, NFLactive or Gridiron football player, or something else? I'm getting ready to add articles for two more first-team All-American Gators who never played professional ball (Bruce Bennett, Charlie LaPradd), and I would like to get it right on the first try. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 18:12, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- With Alvarez, you could use Template:Infobox CollegeFootballPlayer, but if you have any troubles with it (certain required parameters like "class" will not apply for a former player), you can always use Template:Infobox NFL player. If you decide to use the NFL player infobox, for the "pastteams" parameter you can put in Florida Gators. You can really go either way in these cases, and I don't have a personal preference. Eagles 24/7 (C) 19:10, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you, sir, for your prompt response. Have you seen any examples of the College football player infobox used for former college players, or just current undergraduates? BTW, the "class" field will accept "Graduate"; apparently, it is an unlinked field that will accept any ASCII text.
- One other infobox question for you: do you have any idea how to turn off fields in infoboxes, so they don't show default text? I'm having a problem with "Infobox college golf team" as used in the "Florida Gators men's golf" article. It automatically includes default text for a "women's coach" even when no women's coach is listed. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 19:50, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- I think I've seen one instance of its use for a former player, but it was in error because they signed a contract with a team in training camp and I immediately converted the infobox. I have changed the Template:Infobox college golf team to make the "mens," "mens-tenure," "womens," and "womens-tenure" parameters optional, so the Florida Gators men's golf article does not include the women's coach. Eagles 24/7 (C) 20:05, 28 November 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks, again. Be careful, Eagles, or you could become the go-to guy for everyone's infobox problems. Dirtlawyer1 (talk) 20:15, 28 November 2010 (UTC)

2010 Draft error
Hey Eagles! I'm kind of bummed at the loss to the Bears today, but so what. While surfing 2010 NFL Draft, I noticed that the draftyear= parameter links to the current season isntead of last year's. While this may be intentional (i.e., to see how a draft pick affected a team), I would always look to see why that team got that pick insatead of how that pick helped that team. I've changed the first round in the 2010 Draft to reflect my point on this matter. Is this on purpose? Buggie111 (talk) 01:43, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
- User:Pats1 would be the best person to ask, he contributed a great deal to that page. I could go either way with this, but Pats1 should have a more definite answer. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:18, 29 November 2010 (UTC)
