Red Star
Red Star Congratulations, Dylan620/Archives/2009! It's my pleasure to award you November 30, 2009's Red Star for being hard working, kind to others, and for being an excellent user in general. A record of this award will always be kept at User:Meaghan/Shining Stars. Enjoy! Meaghan the vanilla twilight 03:27, 30 November 2009 (UTC) You could also receive the next higher up award, the Orange Star! |
- Gee, I really don't think I've done much to deserve this lately, but thanks! --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 22:54, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

Orange Star
Orange Star Congratulations, Dylan620/Archives/2009! Within the past three days, you received the Red Star for being hard working, kind to others, and for being an excellent user in general. You've now been chosen to receive the next higher up award, the Orange Star. A record of this award will always be kept at User:Meaghan/Shining Stars. Enjoy! Meaghan the vanilla twilight 21:00, 1 December 2009 (UTC) You could also receive the next higher up award, the Yellow Star! |
- As it turns out, I didn't receive the next higher up award - that went to J.delanoy instead. Ah well, he deserves it twice as much as I do. :) Thanks. --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 03:06, 2 December 2009 (UTC)
Thank you :)

Great News!!!
Unable to resist bacon's temptations, rogue editors have kicked off the Bacon Challenge 2010 before the New Year even starts! This is a fun and collegial event and all are welcome. There are many non-pork articles for editors who enjoy some sizzle, but object to or don't like messing with pig products. This year's event also includes a Bacon WikiCup 2010 for those who may want to keep score and enjoy engaging in friendly competition. Given the critical importance of this subject matter, I know you will want to participate, so remember to sign up today and get started A.S.A.P. ALL ARE WELCOME!!! The more the merrier. Beta testing
Hi Dylan. I'm currently writing an editing tool for deletion tagging, WikiAlerter. At the moment I'm looking for a few users to do a bit of my testing for me, as I haven't used all the functions myself. This would basically involve using the program from time to time, being prepared for it to mess up on you, and reporting any errors to me :). If you were willing to do so, this would be very helpful, but feel free to say no :). If you do decide to, please email me (so I have your email to send the program to). Best, - Kingpin13 (talk) 20:43, 4 December 2009 (UTC)
Hi!
I posted this reply on my talk page, but I don't know if that will trigger a notification. SaaHc2B (talk) 18:58, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Pasturella Pestis
- I have tagged that page for speedy deletion under criterion G8, which states that pages which are dependent on nonexistent pages may be deleted – in this case, Pasturella Pestis was a redirect to Yersinia Pestis, which does not exist. Before you create a redirect to another page, please click on the "show preview" button under the edit box to make sure that the target page exists. Also, if you were planning to create the Yersinia Pestis article in the future, please do not create pre-emptive redirects. Hope this helps you in the future. --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 13:32, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
- Hi. Thanks, and sorry. I meant to account for an alternative spelling of Pasteurella pestis, but I didn't realize that taxonomic animal names had the genus capitalized and the species uncapitalized. So what I should have done was have Pasturella pestis redirect to Yersinia pestis, which does exist. Would that be an acceptable usage?
- Also, I noticed that we are both named Dylan :D. I don't have much time to be a serious contributor, but I like to help with inconsistencies on articles that I use for school, and I would like to know more about WP policies and the like. I looked around on your user page and was surprised by the complexity of WP's support group, including the adopt-a-user program, which I hadn't heard of before. So even though I can only be involved a little bit at a time, and I will probably only have the time to ask questions now and then, I was wondering if you would like to adopt me as a user. Thanks and I hope to hear back. SaaHc2B (talk) 18:36, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

Answer to my question.
Well thanks for the answer Dylan. That was great and to be honest...it probably helped me out than you. You see im sick and tired of being a newbie, kid, myspacer, sockpupetteer (Im not it wasnt my fault I swear!) and overall immature editor that people think that I am. The only thing that I got going for me now is Huggle, World War II and the DYK. Thats it. I want to be as good as you but I keep on getting into trouble one way or another. My edits are being devalued left and right and I keep getting called imature. I want this to end that thats why I became your adoptee. You give me hope that even people in poor standings like me, can have a future here. If theres anything that I can do to be as good as an editor as you...please dont hesitate to tell me. Thank you.--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 02:26, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- One question before I reply, though - what did you mean by "divalud?" --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 02:56, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- I believe he meant "devalued". @Kate (parlez) 02:57, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah. Thats a major typo :)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 03:00, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

- Anyway, that was very nice of you Coldplay. :) As Julian pointed out, you should really avoid chatter that is socializing in the end. Maybe you could use a social networking site (such as Facebook) to engage in that sort of chatter? As many editors have explained before, it's nice to socialize, Wikipedia isn't the place for it. I'll conduct a more detailed review tomorrow. Cheers! --Dylan620 (contribs, logs, review) 03:42, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks. And its not that I like to chatter. Its that somehow my conversations get turned into chatter. 90% of the myspace conversations that I have start out as real wikipedia-related conversations. Anyway, thank you again for the reply and I look forward to reading you more detailed review tomorow :)--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 03:47, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

Ouch!
I hope you notice how many people said "not quite, almost there". Best of luck in a future RfA. - Dank (push to talk) 14:27, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- I am sorry to see your request go down in such a way, I actually came to your userpage and chanced upon it a few minutes after it was withdrawn. I hope you're not deterred by what was said, hopefully the opposes can be looked upon as suggestions for a better run next time rather than simply negative statements. Hope you're doing well. :) Chris Rocen (talk) 14:47, 12 December 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you both for your kind words – it means a lot to me that you came along during such a time. Initially I intended on taking a break for the rest of the day (asking Julian to resume coaching tomorrow), but I think I'll cut my break short. - I took a month off after my RfA, and I believe it really helped. I'm sorry to see yours go the way that it did, but some of our best admins had multiple RfAs, so please don't be discouraged. Best of luck, Dylan. @Kate (parlez) 20:23, 12 December 2009 (UTC)

- Sorry to see it go the way it did. Theres always next year pall. And as for the maturity concerns. "Time heals all wounds" people will soon get over your past. Good luck next time Dylan. To be honest, I couldnt see anything in there that you needed to improve on. Just "maturity concerns".--Coldplay Expért Let's talk 22:07, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

FA class
Just wanted to let you know that WPTC uses FA class for all featured content, so everything's better organized. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:01, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- OK, my bad. I changed it to FL-class because all other featured timelines that I've seen are listed as FL-class. --Dylan620 (contribs, logs) 16:03, 13 December 2009 (UTC)
- That's odd; they shouldn't be. I'll take a look in a bit. –Juliancolton | Talk 16:39, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Merry Christmas!!
Once again it is festive season, a time where festive decorations are displayed and gifts are swapped; but what about the true meaning of christmas? The true meaning of christmas is about the fight for freedom and how in times of hardship and misery, one person leads their people to freedom as a great warrior; for those who fight for a cause are warriors and those who fight for a worthy cause are great warriors. Such an act earns respect and honour; but most importantly, brings happiness to their people. So to achieve this as happiness lies in other people's happiness and greatness lies in how you deal with little people, we selflessly think of others in the hope that they will be happy this christmas.
Hi Dylan620/Archives/2009, have a very Merry Christmas and A Happy New Year 2010!

The 2010 WikiCup begins tomorrow!
Welcome to the biggest WikiCup Wikipedia has yet seen! Round one will take place over two months, and finish on February 26. There is only one pool, and the top 64 will progress. The competition will be tough, as more than half of the current competitors will not make it to round 2. Details about scoring have been finalized and are explained at Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring. Please make sure you're familiar with the scoring rules, because any submissions made that violate these rules will be removed. Like always, the judges can be reached through the WikiCup talk pages, on their talk page, or over IRC with any issues concerning anything tied to the Cup. We will keep in contact with you via weekly newsletters; if you do not want to receive them, please remove yourself from the list here. Conversely, if a non-WikiCup participant wishes to receive the newsletters, they may add themselves to that list. Well, enough talk- get writing! Your submission's page is located here. Details on how to submit your content is located here, so be sure to check that out! Once content has been recognized, it can be added to your submissions page, from which our bot will update the main score table. Remember that only articles worked on and nominated during the competition are eligible for points. Have fun, and good luck! Garden, iMatthew, J Milburn, and The ed17 19:18, 31 December 2009 (UTC)
