User talk:Drew Stanley
Welcome, Drew Stanley!
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Drew Stanley! I'm I dream of horses, and I've been assigned as your mentor. About half of new Wikipedia accounts receive a mentor chosen randomly from a list of volunteers. It just means I'm here to help with anything you need! We need to have all kinds of people working together to create an online encyclopedia, so I'm glad you're here. Over time, you will figure out what you enjoy doing the most on Wikipedia.
You might have noticed that you have access to a tutorial and suggested edits. It's recommended that you take advantage of this, as it'll make learning how to edit Wikipedia easier.
If you need assistance with anything or have any questions, click on the "Get editing help" button on the bottom right corner of your screen. This will open up a module with links to help pages and a place to ask me questions. You can also ask me questions directly on my talk page, or go here to get help from the wider community.
Again, welcome to Wikipedia! I dream of horses (Hoofprints) (Neigh at me) 02:27, 25 January 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, I'm 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:6114:50AB:E896:7E16. I noticed that you recently removed all content from a page. Please do not do this. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. As a rule, if you discover a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If a page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you wish to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. 2601:5CC:8300:A7F0:6114:50AB:E896:7E16 (talk) 21:53, 18 February 2024 (UTC)
Edit Summaries
[edit]Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that your recent edit to Employee stock purchase plan did not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances that your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits, an adequate summary may be quite brief.
The edit summary field looks like this:
Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)
Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing → Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button. Thanks! — voidxor 00:54, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! Ill summarize my edits in the edit summary field Drew Stanley (talk) 01:58, 22 February 2024 (UTC)

Removing content
[edit]Please do not remove content or templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did at Cuius regio, eius religio, without giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your content removal does not appear to be constructive and has been reverted. If you only meant to make a test edit, please use your sandbox for that. Thank you. We do not fix issues with articles by deleting them. If you think the article needs improvement, then work to improve it. Skyerise (talk) 16:42, 22 February 2024 (UTC)
- who is we and why are you telling me what to do
- This project has policies and guidelines which you have to follow. One principle is that editors don't go slapping maintenance templates on articles without posting the details of their objections on the talk page. You received a welcome message with links to our major and minor policies and guidelines. It is your responsibility to educate yourself about them and to avoid editing disruptively without even attempting to collaborate by forming a consensus for action on the talk page. First thing you need to do is learn how to sign your comments by placing ~~~~ at the end of your posts. Skyerise (talk) 16:50, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- thanks for teaching me. I wont go on modern witch-hunts anymore. I am sure you can fix it completely by deleting everything that i thought had an issue. I did post on the talk page, but I dont see your post. 17:28, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- could you please exaplain why my name doesn't show up at the end even with the symbols? thanks for your help 22:54, 23 February 2024 (UTC)
- You need to put headings on new posts on talk pages. You also didn't list any detailed reasons, just your personal opinion, which is not sufficient.
- If you put 5 tildes instead of 4, it will only add the date. We have plenty of help pages. I am here to edit articles, not to tutor new editors. Read your welcome message at the top of this page and use the resources listed there for help. Skyerise (talk) 23:27, 23 February 2024 (UTC)

The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

Preview – Consolidate – Summarize
[edit]Hello- Below are a few editing suggestions to make it easier for you and others to collaborate on the encyclopedia. Please preview, consolidate, and summarize your edits:
- Try to consolidate your edits, at least at the section level, to avoid cluttering the page's edit history; this makes it easier for your fellow editors to understand your intentions, and makes it easier for those monitoring activity on the article.
- The show preview button (beside the "publish changes" button) is helpful for this; use it to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits.
- Please remember to explain each edit with an edit summary (box above the "publish changes" button).
Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 23:24, 20 November 2024 (UTC)
- I only made one edit. Drew Stanley (talk) 00:24, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Not sure what you are trying to say with "one edit". My post was based on your contribution history, which I looked at because you had not left an edit summary for your deletion of the Cîteaux Abbey abbots list, and which shows that you often leave no edit summary, and that you often have often made rapid series of unsummarized edits to a given article. Regarding the Cîteaux Abbey deletion, I agree that the table as presented dwarfed the article and is perhaps unnecessary, but, to borrow your expression, if you'd bothered to leave an edit summary, it would have helped your colleagues' understanding of your edit. Eric talk 01:32, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- How would i consolidate one edit.Drew Stanley (talk) 03:19, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Are you paid to edit? I don't have "colleagues" on wikipedia Drew Stanley (talk) 03:21, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- No, I am not paid to edit, and I don't see what would lead you to ask that question. I assume you are merely pretending not to understand what I stated above regarding your edit history. Eric talk 04:39, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- do you know what colleague means?Drew Stanley (talk) 04:40, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Yes. [1], [2] Eric talk 04:51, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- Should you encounter further vocabulary challenges, both those dictionaries may be of assistance. The Collins thesaurus is also useful: [3]. Eric talk 05:12, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- If you had to check multiple dictionaries, you didn't know what colleague means. Good you checked though. Try learning about "connotation" next time. Drew Stanley (talk) 15:50, 21 November 2024 (UTC)
- I of course did not "have to check" them; I was reminding you of the definition in response to your question, as I suspect you are aware. Eric talk 00:33, 22 November 2024 (UTC)
