Disambiguation link notification for November 13
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Gilles Lipovetsky, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Media. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:23, 13 November 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop adding unreferenced or poorly referenced biographical content, especially if controversial, to articles or any other Wikipedia page. Content of this nature could be regarded as defamatory and is in violation of Wikipedia policy. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Please do not add categories to BLPs unless they are mentioned and cited in the article text. StAnselm (talk) 15:37, 11 January 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Before adding a category to an article, as you did to Howard Zinn, please make sure that the subject of the article really belongs in the category that you specified according to Wikipedia's categorization guidelines. The category being added must already exist, and must be supported by the article's verifiable content. Categories may be removed if they are deemed incorrect for the subject matter. Every category must list a defining feature of the topic. Every category must be supported by article text. See WP:CATDEF. Binksternet (talk) 05:01, 13 February 2021 (UTC)

Overcategorization
[edit]You appear to have a tendency toward overcategorization of articles, most recently Dialectic. Please read Wikipedia:Overcategorization carefully, especially the first section, which says that an article should only be categorized by its most defining characteristics, not by peripheral and non-defining characteristics. Biogeographist (talk) 15:15, 16 March 2021 (UTC)
@DipiDuck: Marcocapelle has also recently removed many categories that you added to some articles, which is another indicator that you are overcategorizing. Please pay attention to this issue. Biogeographist (talk) 12:47, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
- DipiDuck, please confirm that you have read and understood the above. Marcocapelle (talk) 16:28, 31 March 2021 (UTC)
More advice: Template:Birth year and age, no underscores in wikilinks, and overlinking
[edit]I was just looking at one of your recent edits, and here is more editing advice in addition to the § Overcategorization issue mentioned above:
- Don't manually add a person's age to an infobox, because the person's age changes every year and would need to be manually updated every year! Instead, use the {{Birth year and age}} template. See this edit for an example. There is also the {{Birth date and age}} for when you know the complete birth date.
- It is not recommended to use underscores in wikilinks, per Help:Wikitext § Link to another wiki article. For example, use
[[Action (philosophy)|actions]]
instead of[[Action_(philosophy)|actions]]
. - Similarly to your apparent tendency to overcategorize, you may have a tendency to overlink. Per MOS:REPEATLINK, a link generally should appear only once in an article. In the edit mentioned above, you added two links to Action (philosophy) and Cognition, which is overlinking.
Please keep these tips in mind. Thanks, Biogeographist (talk) 17:08, 16 March 2021 (UTC)

Some issues
[edit]- WP:Sea of blue and over-linking
you have had it mentioned before, JarrahTree 13:26, 16 May 2021 (UTC)
- @JarrahTree, Marcocapelle, StAnselm, and Binksternet: DipiDuck is still engaging in the problematic editing behavior that we complained about above and is not responding to our requests here on the talk page. Does anyone know what the next step is for dealing with this behavior? Biogeographist (talk) 01:50, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
- @Biogeographist: it seems like a case for WP:ANI. Marcocapelle (talk) 05:23, 30 May 2021 (UTC)
- Biogeographist and Marcocapelle, he is still breaking WP:OVERLINK, WP:OVERCAT, and WP:SEAOFBLUE. If he doesn't take a look at his talk page, a WP:ANI has to start. @DipiDuck: Please read this discussion. Wretchskull (talk) 16:34, 8 June 2021 (UTC)
- I haven't done it myself because I was hoping someone else would do the work of collecting and presenting the evidence! I couldn't decide which were the most egregious examples. Biogeographist (talk) 16:54, 8 June 2021 (UTC)

[edit]Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Bill Watterson, you may be blocked from editing. Laplorfill (talk) 15:33, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- "Vandalise"? I'm sorry, but I'm lost.
- I'm genuinely confused, is what I'm saying.— Preceding unsigned comment added by DipiDuck (talk • contribs)
- As has been repeatedly explained to you, by multiple editors, you are putting way too many links to common terms into articles. You are also putting incorrect categories into articles. Your refusal to stop this behavior is clearly disruptive and need to stop. Common terms like "American" should not be linked. Watterson is neither a Philosopher of Art nor a Philosopher of Culture. Adding false and misleading categories to articles is clear vandalism. Laplorfill (talk) 15:41, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
- "Vandalise"? I'm sorry, but I'm lost.
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you vandalize Wikipedia, as you did at Esperanza Guisán. Stop the overlinking now. You have been repeatedly warned to stop. Continuing to ignore this is not an option. One more occurrence and you will be reported to the admins. Laplorfill (talk) 15:36, 20 June 2021 (UTC)
