Speedy deletion nomination of File:Ihmir Smith-Marsette.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:Ihmir Smith-Marsette.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F9 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a copyright violation of https://www.panthers.com/news/ihmir-smith-marsette-comes-to-carolina-with-a-glowing-recommendation and has no credible claim of fair use or permission. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. How do you delete the images that you uploaded?

How do I delete the images I have created or can I not have to face the consequence? Dash12366 (talk) 03:13, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Dash12366! You and I cannot delete pages or images. Only experienced users called administrators can do that. However, you can request deletion of any new page or image you created by editing it, adding
{{db-author}}
to the top of the page, and pressing "publish changes".
- Also, since you made a good-faith mistake, you do not have to worry about any consequences. Just make sure you review the Wikipedia:Copyright violations page before uploading more images. If you have any more questions, you can post again to this page or ask at the Teahouse. Thanks! Twenty-Five Twenty (talk) 03:29, 13 March 2024 (UTC)

[edit]Hello, Dash12366. I noticed that your recent edit to Ihmir Smith-Marsette added a link to an image on an external website or on your computer, or to a file name that does not exist on Wikipedia's server. For technical and policy reasons it is not possible to use images from external sources on Wikipedia. Most images you find on the internet are copyrighted and cannot be used on Wikipedia, or their use is subject to certain restrictions. If the image meets Wikipedia's image use policy, consider uploading it to Wikipedia yourself or request that someone else upload it. See the image tutorial to learn about wiki syntax used for images. Thank you. - Sumanuil. (talk to me) 03:38, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Free agent signings
[edit]Hello. Welcome to Wikipedia! I realize you are a newcomer, at least based upon your slightly over 100 logged contributions attached to this screen name, so please do not take this as being too harsh or discouraging... There actually is no Wikipedia policy prohibiting us from passing along news of free agent signings that are reported in reliable sources in the press. Please stop templating pages of NFL free agent biographies with this incorrect assertion and please stop leaving hidden notes to that effect as well. Anyway, I appreciate your enthusiasm and hope you find Wikipedia editing to be a fun and fruitful hobby. —tim /// Carrite (talk) 03:52, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Hello,
- The only reason I been doing that is because I’ve seen other people do it as well. It started with me seeing it in the code source of Tony Pollard and few other big players. I tried searching the policy (Obviously there is not now) but couldn’t seem to find it so I thought I was just searching it wrong and Wikipedia had it somewhere deep in the policy. I will stop from now on onwards. Dash12366 (talk) 04:08, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Sports/Handling sports transactions states "When extensive coverage exists, reliable sources may report breaking news on a transaction based on anonymous sources. Indications that news is speculative include phrases such as "a person with knowledge of the negotiations says", "spoke on condition of anonymity", "has not yet signed a contract", "are expected to acquire", "cannot become official until", and "still trying to confirm details". Additionally, some sports leagues have periods where negotiations can take place, but a deal cannot become official until a future date. In these cases, the transaction should not be presented as having been completed, and infoboxes should not be updated." HappyBoi3892 (talk) 15:18, 13 March 2024 (UTC)
Aaron Brewer
[edit]I would hate for you to waste time on stats that aren't necessary, so can you tell me where you found the precedent for the stats you marked for Aaron Brewer? ParXivalRPT (talk) 04:02, 16 March 2024 (UTC)
KJ Osborn
[edit]Yes, the Patriots said "reportedly" - but why would they put it on their official website, if he wasn't actually getting signed by the Pats?
Do you have an example of where they've announced a signing before that never came to be? ParXivalRPT (talk) 02:05, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- Not that I can think of on the top of my head. But one example is the Colts. NFL and multiple news sources said that the Colts had "Reportedly" signed Joe Flacco. That was since the beginning of when the NFL 2024 season started since March 13th. Nothing from the Colts themselves said anything of signing Joe Flacco. Team media are posting them and they have no clue what goes behind scene of coaches and GMs offices. So whenever they hear something, they say, and I mean they I mean ALL NFL teams say "Report" or "Reportedly". Once you see a picture of a player actually signing a piece of paper or see a very cool grapic picture of saying "Welcome to _________" then that you know that its actually official. Dash12366 (talk) 03:04, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
- I'll keep that in mind, thanks ParXivalRPT (talk) 03:21, 18 March 2024 (UTC)
