USRC Androscoggin
[edit]The last section has a sentence stating that the vessel needed repairs after the "fishing net incident." The preceding text mentions an investigation of tampering with fishing nets but no fishing net incident. I think the reason for the repairs needs to be clarified. Was there an "incident" of some sort or was the ship simply in need of repairs by the time it finished the investigation? Otherwise, it is B class. Thanks. Donner60 (talk) 01:47, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- I have reworded the section and hopefully have satisfied your question. Now B-class? Cuprum17 (talk) 11:42, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Nice work on USRC Androscoggin!
[edit]Just read USRC Androscoggin - very nice! Chetsford (talk) 03:12, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! This is the first new article that I have written in years. Although the research was tedious, I enjoyed putting the facts together to complete the article. Cuprum17 (talk) 11:41, 19 February 2024 (UTC)
Much obliged
[edit]Thank you for lending your time and talent to improving the SPARS article. I’m looking forward to having it reviewed. Since 2019, I have reviewed around a 100 articles-AC and FAC-and it has been a valuable learning experience for me. BTW, in 2015 I was interviewed by a Wikipedia Foundation writer about my service aboard the USS Mahan (364). I thought you might like reading it - :http://diff.wikimedia.org/2015/09/04/wwii-veteran-wikipedia/ . In any event, I’m well and hope you and all your family are too. Your shipmate! GOCE edit ongoing for SPARS
[edit]Hello @Cuprum17. I see you have done some recent editing on SPARS. I am currently trying to do an GOCE edit on the page, hence the tag at the top indicating a GOCE Edit in progress. If possible, could you hold off on making any more edits? This is taking some time, as I'm a bit new to this; but I'm getting a bit confused with edits back and forth between me and you. In particular, I'm trying to adjust spelling for SPARS, SPARs, and SPAR, to differentiate between the Organization/Branch itself, the use of the branch as an adjective (Reserve personnel = SPAR personnel), and the individual SPARs (a service member). I'm basing this on the various sources, including the usage of "SPARS" [sic] in the oral history by Stratton.
Let me know if you can hold off for a bit? Sorry it's taking so long. Thanks. —Yogabear2020 (N.B. NoviceEditor; Talk) 19:10, 24 March 2024 (UTC)
- I did look at your diffs, and noted the spelling errors, etc. Thanks! (Maybe I should ask you to look again when I'm done? That would be helpful.) Again, sorry it's taking so long; I do appreciate the effort to fix my mistakes. Hope you are well. Once again, Yogabear2020 (N.B. NoviceEditor; Talk) 19:14, 24 March 2024 (UTC)

Voting for coordinators is now open!
[edit]Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. They do not, however, have any authority over article content or editor conduct, or any other special powers. More information on being a coordinator is available here. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:40, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
SPARs
[edit]Greetings-I hope all is well in your part of the world. SPARs is now an A-Class candidate but reviewers are few and far between. So, given your past interest, how about reviewing it yourself. Pendright (talk) 21:20, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
- @Pendright: All is well here. I am getting ready to go to Salida, Colorado for the annual Fall Color Tour for flatfender jeeps. The tour consists of about 50 flatfender jeeps that drive Forest Service roads in and around Salida each day for five days. Some of the roads are fairly challenging, others not so much. Flatfender jeeps are those that were manufactured from 1941 through 1954, both military and civilian. I have owned since 1969 a 1946 CJ-2A jeep, a picture of which is on my user page. "Ol' Red" is one year older than I am and probably in a little better shape than me since I did a complete restoration on her in 2015. I try to go on the tour each year but missed last year because I was commander of the local VFW post and we had major construction going on inside the post home. I will be getting ready this week and be gone to Colorado next week but I will certainly be happy to give an A-Class review of SPARS in the first part of October. Hope everything is well with you. Cuprum17 (talk) 11:56, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
- All good here! I wish you well on your Colorado adventure and I look forward to your review. Regards! Pendright (talk) 03:53, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

SPARs rollback
[edit]Why did you rollback my edits? Pendright (talk) 21:09, 4 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Pendright: I'm sorry. I don't recall doing this intentionally. I must have hit the wrong link without realizing it. There was nothing wrong with your edit that got reverted so I am at a loss as to why I would have reverted your edit. Maybe I'm losing it. I could have been tired because I'm not getting the right amount of sleep. Who knows. Anyway, you caught my error and I will be more carefully in the future, shipmate... Cuprum17 (talk) 12:02, 5 October 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the explanation. I hope your trip to Colo. went well. Take care! Pendright (talk) 19:16, 6 October 2024 (UTC)
@Cuprum17: Hey, do you know anything about using these templates: ameng template add mdy template - per reviewer? Pendright (talk) 15:44, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- I'm sorry to have bothered you - I finally figured it out - ameng=American Engish, mdy=month, day, year. It's tough to be old and dumb too. Anyway, I hope things are good with you. Pendright (talk) 21:35, 13 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Pendright:When I got back from Colorado some real life issues popped up and I just never got the time to looks at SPARs. Sorry. the issues will be clearing themselves up after the middle of November. Nothing of an emergency, but they are time consuming. Cuprum17 (talk) 14:42, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Cuprum17: Thanks for the maii - good luck with the issues at hand. Regards! Pendright (talk) 01:39, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
- @Cuprum17: Good news - SPARs was promoted to A-class today. See you at the FAC nomination soon. Pendright (talk) 23:56, 26 October 2024 (UTC)

John Adams Webster
[edit]Just a heads up that I reverted your last edit on John Adams Webster. While the Coast Guard may not have a record of the ship, the detail is appropriately referenced. Maybe discuss on the talk page what Coast Guard source(s) you are using to disprove the cite, but noting the sources may differ may be a more appropriate footnote than the removal of a cited detail on the article. --Engineerchange (talk) 19:56, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
- Working on it. Cuprum17 (talk) 20:00, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
