Requesting protection for Meitei language to be changed to semiprotected/unprotected

I don't think the protection is necessary anymore, it's been a long time since this article has been vandalized and I'm pretty sure that semiprotection is enough. Thoughts? ミラへぜ (talk) 23:00, 11 December 2024 (UTC)

Indef full protection of Brianna Wu - 1.5 years now

Hi Courcelles,

It has been about a year-and-a-half since you indefinitely fully protected Brianna Wu as an arbitration enforcement action. As you are aware, WP:PREEMPT states that The duration of protection should be as short as possible and at the lowest protection level sufficient to stop the disruption, allowing edits from as many productive users as possible. Indef full protection, of course, is the longest possible protection at the highest protection level. Do you still believe that permanent full protection is required?

Red-tailed hawk (nest) 18:58, 10 December 2024 (UTC)

On a related note, you also have semi-protected Joe Biden's talk page until February of next year, citing that you don't anticipate a drop in vandalism until until after the election. An IP brought this up on your talk page a few weeks ago. This doesn't appear to be an arbitration enforcement action, so I could lower it unilaterally but I figure I'd ask out of courtesy: Do you have any objection to this being lowered as well? — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 21:07, 10 December 2024 (UTC)
Upon reading the CTOP guidance more closely, I discovered that one year after being imposed (or last renewed, if applicable), contentious topic restrictions which were imposed by a single administrator may be amended or revoked without going through the appeals and amendments process in the same way as an ordinary administrator action. Do you have any objection to me lowering the protection from full to ECP? If not, I'll go ahead do so at some point in the next day or two. — Red-tailed hawk (nest) 22:45, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
Go ahead. I’m not around here much these days. Courcelles (talk) 23:09, 11 December 2024 (UTC)
hi @Red-tailed hawk, was curious why Brianna Wu was fully protected as well. Could you drop protection level soon? Bluethricecreamman (talk) 15:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Weekly Summary #660

Welcome to the 2025 WikiCup!

Happy New Year and Happy New WikiCup! The 2025 competition has just begun and all article creators, expanders, improvers and reviewers are welcome to take part. Even if you are a novice editor, we hope the WikiCup will give you a chance to improve your editing skills as you go. If you have already signed up, your submissions page can be found here. If you have not yet signed up, you can add your name here and the judges will set up your submissions page ready for you to take part. Any questions on the scoring, rules or anything else should be directed to one of the judges, or posted to the WikiCup talk page.

For the 2025 WikiCup, we've implemented several changes to the scoring system. The highest-ranking contestants will now receive tournament points at the end of each round, and final rankings are decided by the number of tournament points each contestant has. If you're busy and can't sign up in January, don't worry: Signups are now open throughout the year. To make things fairer for latecomers, the lowest-scoring contestants will no longer be eliminated at the end of each round.

The first round will end on 26 February. The judges for the WikiCup this year are: Cwmhiraeth (talk · contribs · email), Epicgenius (talk · contribs · email), Frostly (talk · contribs · email), Guerillero (talk · contribs · email) and Lee Vilenski (talk · contribs · email). Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove your name from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send.
