Page Curation update
Hey all :). We've just deployed another set of features for Page Curation. They include flyouts from the icons in Special:NewPagesFeed, showing who reviewed an article and when, a listing of this in the "info" flyout, and a general re-jigging of the info flyout - we've also fixed the weird bug with page_titles_having_underscores_instead_of_spaces in messages sent to talkpages, and introduced CSD logging! As always, these features will need some work - but any feedback would be most welcome. Thanks! Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 18:19, 10 September 2012 (UTC)

Help Project
Hey. I missed replying earlier, and don't want to bump the thread (and prevent archiving even longer), so, to answer your questions at WP:VPR#Additions to the sidebar
Re: Introduction link: Would need a new thread, as everyone above is supporting/opposing something else. Also, page 2&3 of the Intro have barely changed since 2005/06 when they were designed ([1], [2]), and should probably be thoroughly checked and improved before being considered for sidebar prominence.

Photographing sites in Portland listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP) is the main focus of Wikipedia Takes Portland. This year the event will kick off at Saturday, September 22nd at noon at Pioneer Courthouse Square. Currently, there are no formal plans--this is simply an opportunity to meet fellow Wikipedians before trekking around PDX to photograph sites on the Register. Not interested in coming downtown? You can still upload your images as part of the international photo competition. Page Curation newsletter
Hey Conifer. This will be, if not our final newsletter, one of the final ones :). After months of churning away at this project, our final version (apart from a few tweaks and bugfixes) is now live. Changes between this and the last release include deletion tag logging, a centralised log, and fixes to things like edit summaries.
Hopefully you like what we've done with the place; suggestions for future work on it, complaints and bugs to the usual address :). We'll be holding a couple of office hours sessions, which I hope you'll all attend. Many thanks, Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 11:25, 24 September 2012 (UTC)

Airport names
More discussion on airport names. I am contacting you, and all past participants in recent discussions on this issue, because there is now a new RFC.
WP:HYPHEN says that proper names get hyphens, like Jones-Smith (or, as the example says "John Lennard-Jones". Are airport names any different? If I take a bicycle trip from Paris to Orly and write an article about it, or someone else does, it would correctly be called Paris–Orly trip with an en dash and trip not capitalized. But if I create a bicycle and call it the Paris-Orly Flyer that becomes a proper name and is capitalized. Is not the same true for airport names? Please see the discussions at WP:MOS, Talk:Seattle–Tacoma International Airport#Requested move and the recently opened RfC at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Airports#New RfC. Apteva (talk) 21:14, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- That's misleading, Apteva. WP:HYPHEN says this:
"Hyphenation also occurs in bird names such as Great Black-backed Gull, and in proper names such as Great Black-backed Gull and Wilkes-Barre."
- Some proper names "get hyphens", but that does not mean no proper name gets an en dash. "Are airport names any different?" Any different from what, exactly? From the default naming assumption that is mentioned at WP:DASH? That is the question facing the RFC to which you refer. An especially ill-posed one, in my opinion, with poor structure and unsupported preliminary assumptions.
- PLEASE NOTE: discussions do not occur at places like [[WP:XXX]]. That is not a talkpage. Try this instead: WT:MOS. I see you making that mistake a lot.
- By the way, are you canvassing for that RFC? See WP:CANVAS.

- You know what, screw this. From now on, I'm not going to get involved the the hyphen/dash debate. Nothing good will ever come of it. I asked an honest question on what to do, and a huge argument has flared up. David1217 What I've done 23:15, 25 September 2012 (UTC)
- Hopefully the issue will find a reasonable resolution. Right now I am compiling a list of out of the 9,000 airports around the world, how many of them have hyphens and how many should have hypens. I am about 1/7th of the way through the list. Apteva (talk) 03:36, 26 September 2012 (UTC)

Page Curation newsletter - closing up!
Hey all :).
We're (very shortly) closing down this development cycle for Page Curation. It's genuinely been a pleasure to talk with you all and build software that is so close to my own heart, and also so effective. The current backlog is 9 days, and I've never seen it that low before.
However! Closing up shop does not mean not making any improvements. First-off, this is your last chance to give us a poke about unresolved bugs or report new ones on the talkpage. If something's going wrong, we want to know about it :). Second, we'll hopefully be taking another pass over the software next year. If you've got ideas for features Page Curation doesn't currently have, stick them here.
Again, it's been an honour. Thanks :). Okeyes (WMF) (talk) 12:23, 17 October 2012 (UTC)

Anyway. You're getting this note because you've participated in discussion and/or asked for updates to either the Article Feedback Tool or Page Curation. This isn't about either of those things, I'm afraid ;p. We've recently started working on yet another project: Echo, a notifications system to augment the watchlist. There's not much information at the moment, because we're still working out the scope and the concepts, but if you're interested in further updates you can sign up here.

Hey all :). A couple of quick updates (one small, one large)
First, we're continuing to work on some ways to increase the quality of feedback and make it easier to eliminate and deal with non-useful feedback: hopefully I'll have more news for you on this soon :).
Second, we're looking at ways to increase the actual number of users patrolling and take off some of the workload from you lot. Part of this is increasing the prominence of the feedback page, which we're going to try to do with a link at the top of each article to the relevant page. This should be deployed on Tuesday (touch wood!) and we'll be closely monitoring what happens. Let me know if you have any questions or issues :). I had to strike my name at Wikipedia:Merchandise giveaways/Nominations due to a conflict of interest, but I really wanted to say thank you for both bringing the program to my attention, and of course the trust you put in nominating me. Being the founder of WP:WikiProject Editor Retention, it is important that I promote this program and insure as many editors are aware of it as possible, which means I need to not be up for free goodies, as that would look bad. But the nomination and support from others is better than a t-shirt and I already feel rewarded thanks to your kindness. :) Dennis Brown - 2¢ © Join WER 16:29, 18 November 2012 (UTC)

Chinawoman blp-prod
Hi David1217, I removed the deletion tag you put on the article Chinawoman because I don't think it qualifies for BLP-prod. The policy (see WP:BLP-PROD) only applies to articles which contain no sources in any form; this article had a link to the author's website in the infobox. Hope I haven't made a mistake :) —Noiratsi (talk) 08:45, 18 December 2012 (UTC)
- That's fine. As a side note, it appears the BLP PROD template is inconsistent with the BLP PROD guideline page. David1217 What I've done 03:40, 19 December 2012 (UTC)
- I think there's a discrepancy bewteen what qualifies for adding a bpl-prod tag and what qualifies for removing one once it's been legitimately added—to add it, there have to be no sources at all, whereas to remove if there have to be reliable sources (i.e. not just any source will do). Does that explain the inconsistency or is there something else? Obviously going by that guideline you could argue I shouldn't have removed it; but I thought it was soon enough after the tagging to be okay. In other news, now I'm trying to figure out another appropriate reason to get the article deleted ^^. Notability, probably. --Noiratsi (talk) 06:12, 19 December 2012 (UTC)

Perspolis FC page
Hey there, Sorry for my late reply, I just saw your messages. About the Perspolis FC, you mentioned that this club is the most successful Iranian club which is not true, but this club is one of the most successful clubs indeed. This club never won an Asian Champions League (never been in final), but you mentioned that they won it on 1990-91 that at that time another Iranian club called Esteghlal won it. Check this link: http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/AFC_Champions_League Even the link you mentioned there (Perspolic website) didn't say that they won it!!! If you need more sources or help for translation please let me know because you cannot change the history. - I only reverted your removal of content on Persepolis F.C. because you didn't provide an edit summary explaining your changes. Feel free to make the changes again, as long as they are supported by reliable sources—and add an edit summary too. David1217 What I've done 00:54, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
Perspolis FC page
Hey there again, I'm trying to work on that whenever I free free time, but in the meantime I removed the last sentence of the first part "Persepolis has also won an Asian Cup Winners' Cup.[10]" because it's not true! even if you check the link you referred to it doesn't mention anything about Asian Cup! I don't know who helped you for translation, but check with who ever knows Farsi and see that I'm right. here some sources to see that Perspolis FC never won an Asian Cup, not even be in the final: 1- http://www.worldfootball.net/sieger/afc-champions-league/ 2- http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/List_of_Asian_Club_Championship_and_AFC_Champions_League_winning_managers 3- http://en.wiki.x.io/wiki/AFC_Champions_League Cheers, Armin — Preceding unsigned comment added by Arminzadi (talk • contribs) 16:49, 1 January 2013 (UTC)

- Hopefully another time, then. Thanks for the heads up re: Pok Pok. I will move your stub to the main space and add it to the list of articles to expand. I may take on the challenge myself! --Another Believer (Talk) 23:03, 17 January 2013 (UTC)
