[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created Chester Hill railway station, and I noticed that your username, "ChesterHillHistory", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Jack Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".
Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. - What are you talking about? I am a long term resident at Chester Hill, and I do not belong to any organisation or group. I am unbiased and do not violate Wikipedia policies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChesterHillHistory (talk • contribs)
- Thank you for confirming that. While you may not be part of an organisation or group, your username may be misleading and may imply a conflict of interest. I think you are better off completing the form mentioned above. I undid the edit you made to Chester Hill railway station because you didn't provide any reliable sources and what you wrote didn't reflect Wikipedia's encyclopaedic tone. Feel free to make your edit again if you can rectify this. Once more, welcome to Wikipedia and happy editing! Linguist 111talk 13:14, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- I have no vested interest other than my own. Would you disallow an individual who live in Sweden from editing on Sweden, the country? You wouldn't! In addition, my username is in no way, shape or form misleading, and does not convey any "conflict of interest". Point taken though in regards to writing in a formal tone with evidence. — Preceding unsigned comment added by ChesterHillHistory (talk • contribs)
- A username like yours could imply that you are, just as an example, part of a group researching the history of Chester Hill. As far as the editing on the Chester Hill railway station goes, that would probably be more of a case of original research, rather than conflict of interest, if you were part of a research group. It may be completely untrue and a complete misunderstanding, as you have said. Wikipedia's policies on usernames say that blatantly inappropriate usernames should be reported to the admin's noticeboard. Your username didn't strike me as blatantly promotional, but I just wanted to make sure, hence why I discussed it with you. I hope this won't discourage you from contributing to the encyclopedia.
