Loveless

[edit]

If I handle the recording/music aspect, do you think you and Brandt Luke Zorn could handle the critical reponse? The book somewhat glosses over that. It does briefly quote from the original NME and Melody Maker reviews by Dele Fadele and Simon Reynolds, respectively. If you can find those reviews let me know. WesleyDodds 00:58, 7 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll make sure that if I ever create a painting that becomes a featured article I'll make sure it's properly licensed for free use, if not ouright released it in the public domain, so we can show a tiny thumbnail of it on the Main Page. Christ. WesleyDodds 21:26, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Been meaning to cite Loveless more, but been distracted. I'm finally at a library right now where I've found an academic study of grunge in a cultural study book on Seattle. I'll see what I can do tonight when I get home. Also, if you have music available right now to upload, I think we could do with a clip of "Soon", and add the Brian Eno comment to the soundclip box description. WesleyDodds 23:53, 9 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have access to one Flying Saucer Attack record, although it wasn't the Wire cover. Pretty long, nonetheless. You've been having fun with your userpage today, haven't you? WesleyDodds 21:23, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, by the way, this'll interest you:

Bernard Sumner: When the staff finished at about four in the afternoon, Martin would lock all the doors, and he would make us take drugs. Ian couldn't do drugs because of his epliepsy; the most he ever did was sip a few beers. Hooky didn't do any drugs, but me and Steve used to do a bit of speed. Martin didn't regard this as a proper drug, so and he insisted that I do some cocaine. I said no. He said, "Well, I'm not starting work. There's the number of the dealer. Until one of you phone him, we're not fucking starting on this album." In the end, we cracked because we were getting nothing done. We called this coke dealer, got this coke, and found it extremely weak. We didn't like it anyway. But we ended up working, not surprisingly, all through the night, and then we'd go back to the flat at ten in the morning, trying to get asleep. WesleyDodds 21:36, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I also found out about this the other day: http://schools-wikipedia.org/ Interesting idea (god knows no one under the age of twelve should probably be reading Be Here Now which has by my count over a dozen references to profanity and cocaine), but you have to wonder why the GA level alternative rock article makes the cut but FAs punk rock and heavy metal music don't. I suppose that sort of music riles the students up. WesleyDodds 21:49, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can't say we do. Then again, when VH1 broadcast the second annual UK Music Hall of Fame induction ceremony, they trimmed it by an hour and completely cut out the induction of Joy Division/New Order. I had to watch the uncut version on VH1 Classic to see Hooky swear at the podium and recoil in horror at how far Shaun Ryder has let himself go. WesleyDodds 21:57, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

As an Irishman and former goth, what are your thoughts on the Virgin Prunes? WesleyDodds 22:10, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've listened to the first two albums, If I Die...I Die and one with something about the moon in the title. More of the arty abrasive end of early goth. "Pagan Love Song" is pretty cool. However, two things always amuse me about the band: their insistence that they are very much not a goth band (when the cover of If I Die...I Die contains at least three indicators that they very much are) and the whole U2 connection. I bet that makes for some amusing family dinner conversations. "Oh Dik, what did you do today?" "Oh mum, played with the band down at a pub two hours down the road." "Oh, that's nice dear. And you, Dave?" "Oh, I just bought an island. And a jetpack." WesleyDodds 22:21, 12 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Any really good Irish bands to recommend these days? WesleyDodds 00:17, 14 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I once spun a Rollerskate Skinny song from a comp; rather decent. Hot Fuzz is my favorite movie right now; was hoping they'd release Spaced on DVD over here so I could just wait to buy it and watch. Wish the mp3s would work. WesleyDodds 03:50, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Very odd. What are your thoughts? WesleyDodds 13:37, 17 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Soon

[edit]

I will certainly give it a check, but I need at least a couple of days before I can look up from WS. If you look at the review page, you'll see how demanding it has got now. I do remember I let you down before. I was going to help with the Yeats, but at that time I was up to my neck in responding to the heavy FAC review demands of another article (it was a Polish subject, so you can imagine the controversies) and by the time that was over, Yeats was out of gaol (congratulations on that, by the way). My problem is that I am tunnel-visioned and seem capable of only doing one thing at a time.qp10qp 18:26, 11 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I made a whole boatload of changes, take a look-see. What are your thoughts at an article on holy minimalism? (and the spot I placed a link for it in the article?) If we are agreed it's needed, I can start it tomorrow, I think. (If there's a more NPOV title I should use, let me know.) Chubbles 23:22, 13 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, I went ahead and created one. No refs, not much more than a stub, but at least it's out there. Chubbles 02:37, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

I was wondering if you might be willing to review the article I have written on Mary Wollstonecraft's Thoughts on the Education of Daughters? I'm afraid that whatever I post at WP:PR simply gets lost. I would greatly appreciate it and would, of course, be willing to copy edit or review something in return. I noticed that you removed the Nick Drake Main Page request. Sorry to see that it seems you've now run into a snafu re: the image. Good luck with that.

I found a Project for roots/folk music: Wikipedia:WikiProject Roots music. I think it will be a good fit for the articles I'd like to continue working on. Kmzundel 17:43, 15 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Grunge

[edit]

Got distracted by "Hey Jude". By the way, once I rearrange the "Single release" section, expand on the "musical structure" section a bit (realized there I should probably listen to the song again before I add any more) and do a once-over on the whole article's prose, I think that'll be a save. There is the matter of LuciferMorgan's object over removing the cover songs and pop culture sections. However, I can't much on those aside from American chart positions for the covers, so I'm tempted to leave them out. I'll work on grunge music tomorrow; my immediate tasks are that I need to throw in sales info on In Utero and Vs. (in short: they sold a lot), need to work in more about the influence of heavy metal in the background section, and I need to get around to writing the paragraph about Britpop being a reaction to grunge. All these FARs and GARs have my head spinning. There's some stuff I think the project will have to take preemptive action on, but I have to make sure I don't lose sight of my immediate goals.

In better news: visiting my brother for his birthday next weekend and picking up his copies of Touching From a Distance and Unknown Pleasures 33 1/3. Expect much sourcing. At some point I want to post the work from the temp page onto the main Joy Division article because, frankly, what we've got so far is much better than what's sitting there right now.

Oh, and I'm listening to Catherine Wheel right now. Yeah, Ferment, the only album by them I really like. WesleyDodds 09:35, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I live in a pretty decent state, but even then there are parts of California I wouldn't want to go back to; unfortunately, my family lives in one of the less appealing regions. For one thing, it's hot.
And if it helps, the iPod is now on Murmur. WesleyDodds 10:02, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The memory that sticks with me the most about Los Angeles is that the traffic was horrible. And I don't even drive. Oh, and KROQ-FM had two-minute promos about how great they are. The more I read about KROQ the more I hate it; if you were to listen to them they invented and popularized alternative rock. If you ever take a trip to California, try and stay north of Monterey and west of the valley and you'll be set. WesleyDodds 10:27, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bah, my Internet connection can be really bothersome sometimes. I was only able to load half the Spaced episode the other day. "New Health Rock" (was it called that?) was one of my personal contenders for Song of the Year when it came out. Who made the guitarist list? Any left-field surprises? WesleyDodds 02:55, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Looking at the video it seems like she was singing . . . something, but she was being drowned out by the awesomeness of everything else up there on stage. WesleyDodds 03:03, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. By the way, favorite R.E.M. video, even though it is essentially a clip from a short film they made released as a three-minute video as a "f**k you" to MTV. God, remember when people made videos that looked interesting? I blame Puff Daddy. For a lot of things, as well. WesleyDodds 03:13, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
It's very much a result of reading too many comic books that involve guys punching bears in the face and throwing car batteries at criminals. I did have to take university courses on Renaissance literature and 18th century British literature, so don't worry about the youth of America too much. That entire bridge is fantastic. Honestly probably the only R.E.M. song where I actually can't understand what Stipe is saying (his vocals aren't that indecipherable) aside from the chorus, but I don't care. WesleyDodds 03:21, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No; I should, really. Once tried to impress a girl by pointing out how great it is the way Stipe sings "Then we danced the dance till the menace got out" in the last verse. Unfortunately while she liked it I don't think she was ecstatic about that one vocal tic as I was/am. WesleyDodds 03:27, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, her taste is fine but given the type of peers I have it's strange discovering some rather jarring gaps in their knowledge. There was once a poor soul (an indie kid, to be precise) who had never heard the Who in his whole life. Now how does that happen? Many of them I've discovered know next to nothing about R.E.M. and Led Zeppelin. Once had to explain to a predecessor that, yes, Delta 5 is great, but no way in hell are they part of "the canon". However, I have managed to rope a few of them into appreciating shoegaze. WesleyDodds 03:41, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think as an Irishman you reserve the right to hate any English bands you want. WesleyDodds 03:51, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
While given the scope of my focus I do listen to a lot of British bands, I also have to let people know my favorite bands also include the likes of godforsaken Americans like Smashing Pumpkins and Husker Du. People seem somewhat disappointed when they find out I don't listen to The Cure as much as they think I do. Which, to some of them, means "Listens to The Cure every waking moment". WesleyDodds 03:59, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Huh, I think by adding another cited quote and moving things around I just finished off the "Roots and influences" section in one edit. WesleyDodds 08:17, 19 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if you think I need to add anything more to the paragraph about Britpop I created for the "Decline of mainstream popularity" section. I quote Noel Gallagher, so naturally there's loads of profanity; try and keep that page away from the young ones. WesleyDodds 08:53, 21 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Really need to fix the rest of the "Decline of mainstream popularity". Aside from that, it's mainly little fixes on my end. Oh, and soundclips. I remember there being on of "Touch Me I'm Sick" uploaded, but that might have been deleted. Still, you might want to rad the whole article and give me fedback on what you think of it. I'll be headed home tomorrow with Touching From A Distance and Unknown Pleasures 33 1/3 in tow. Also, we're collaborating on Loveless this week; see if you can give Brandt Luke Zorn a hand on the critical reception section. WesleyDodds 20:30, 25 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Copied and pasted what been done with the bio so far on the Joy Division article. Will tweak a little bit more in the next few days. After that, should tackle the "Musical style" section. WesleyDodds 02:33, 27 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This is funny, given past discussions. WesleyDodds 03:46, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You might want to take a look at how far we've gotten with Loveless (album). WesleyDodds 00:47, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Touch Me I'm Sick", definitely. maybe one of the mroe metallish grunge songs. I know you're not a fan of the genre, but I think you might enjoy this song if you tune out the Robert Plant-esqe vocals. WesleyDodds 21:35, 1 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the message of Peace! No, I'm not as brave as Ulysses, who could brave the stings and narrows of outriggrous FACtion. (Heh.) Well, enjoy building the Joy Division article then, if you're supposed to. I know them primarily through "Love Will Tear Us Apart", which appears to make me entirely predictable, upon reading the lead of that article. –Outriggr  04:12, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sure it's empty, I just like punning. I believe there is one FAC on a poem (a slightly longer sort of poem): The Cantos. My FACtitious fear is two-fold: when writing about an individual poem on here, an extended runaround about claims, OR or POV seems almost inevitable. Second, I cannot claim a deeper expertise that might allow me to resolve content concerns. (Disclaimer: I like disclaimers.) Still, thanks for the encouragement, truly, I'll definitely consider it!

[edit]

I'm asking questions about the deletion of the media files on our new FA. I left a comment here on the deleting admin's userpage. Chubbles 00:17, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I took a look at the rationale, and they might have us over a barrel. Perhaps if we took excerpts that were specifically linked to passages discussed in the text. And the fact that we are using three samples from the same piece...dicey. Chubbles 21:27, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Here is Demon's response. I haven't attempted to talk to Angr, but judging from his userpage, he looks like a fair use zealot. Chubbles 21:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

[edit]

Ouf .... You know what ... I now wanted to work on the article, and I see that another Greece-related FA (Treaty of Devol) is nominated in FAR, and will lose the star. So, what do I choose to do?! And my time is still too limited!

Battle of Greece needs some polishing, e.g. there are some interesting suggestions in the last peer-review of WP:MILHIST, I did not have time to implement. So, I must work on that, ask for a last, "fresh" peer-review, maybe a "fresh" copy-edit, and then nomination. But when am I going to do all this stuff, since I have so many things in my mind (having nothing to do with Wikipedia!), and I'm still part-time here ... Even now, I work here, in order to forget other things ... Anyway, this is irrelevant ...

Another problem is my perfectionism (you must have realized that from my previous comments). That is why I nominate very reluctantly an article (and in the case of El Greco another editor rushed into FAC before my own decision!), and still this strategy does not save me from surprises, such as Pericles' FAR!

Sorry for my babble! And I still did not make you wiser about when I'll nominate Battle of Greece! Well, I hope before 2008!!! Thanks for all the "scientific" and exquisite job you did in the article. Happy to see your excellent articles get promoted, and I hope that from now on I will see you all guys here (you, Awadewit etc.) more often than I used to during the summer. Despite my bad mood, I still see that Wikipedia remains for me both a virus and a cure! And this is good! Cheers!--Yannismarou 19:00, 8 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am afraid I am going to disappoint you, and demolish your hopes! First from the right (if we look from the same angle and direction!)!--Yannismarou 18:49, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Don't continue ... It hurts ... Though I must admit that, judging from your initial "hopes", you have an excellent taste! Oh ... And a sharp vision! Well done! Is there any barnstar for this occasion?!--Yannismarou 19:01, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The pleasure is all mine! Nice to have such a talking with a witty person like you! CU around!--Yannismarou 19:50, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I just bought tickets to see the Mary Chain next month. Will watching two middle-aged Scots staring at their shoes for two hours be worth it? Here's hoping I don't regret spending 100 dollars for two tickets in the coming weeks. WesleyDodds 17:10, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think "Head On" is a great song, if unnecessarily recorded with synth bass and a drum machine. That synth bass sounds horrible. WesleyDodds 17:14, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I should move to Ireland then. I'll be like Bono but with fewer pairs of glasses. WesleyDodds 17:19, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
When I went to Europe last winter I distinctly remember flying over Ireland in the early morn and looking out the window at the beautiful, expansive green countryside. Which begs: what is there to do in Ireland after I'm done with the sightseeing? WesleyDodds 17:26, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am reminded that I really should work on U2. I'm not one of the main editors there, and since I'm not I think fresh perspectives would help the article reach FA. Any thoughts (on the article, that is)? WesleyDodds 02:02, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I listened to Symphony No. 3 (Górecki) today. People kept trying to talk to me while listening to it, so unfortunately not much of it stuck with me. Later in the day, I switched to Still. WesleyDodds 10:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This confuses me. As a fellow with a degree in English, I also find it amusing. Because, y'know, different terms must have different meanings. Apparently. WesleyDodds 23:07, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm going to be sourcing Noel Gallagher right now. Got anything I can use? WesleyDodds 23:32, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Rather silly, in my opinion. Shields was born in the US, but spent his formative years in Ireland. Actually, I've been meaning to go through my Loveless 33 1/3 again because when the book recounts the band's career up to Loveless they don't seem anything but Irish. To use a rather quaint comparison, The Edge and Adam Clayton are actually English, but no one doesn't call U2 Irish.
Per Gallagher: Yeah, I figured you don't like them (despite your opening sentence in the Be Here Now FAC), but I was wondering if you had any articles I couldn't normally get my hands on. WesleyDodds 23:54, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have no clue. Wouldn't RfD come before AfD? WesleyDodds 01:06, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ah, I see. We go here now. Gotta love bureaucracy. WesleyDodds 01:08, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Of course. I was just about to point out that spelling error. WesleyDodds 01:27, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mandatory Youtube link sharing: I'm a sucker for this cover. Oddly one of their few official music videos. WesleyDodds 01:36, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rather obvious given the last link, but too ridiculous to enjoy unironically. Eldritch even described it as "gloriously stupid". And he's proud of that. WesleyDodds 01:49, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
California is a big state. I've actually never lived anywhere near Los Angeles. Most of us here hate it too. I also clicked the link to the "Temple of Love 92" video. Suffice it to say, I prefer the original version of the song. WesleyDodds 02:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the offer, but I'm kind of disenchanted with the GA/FA processes. It seems like, without constant attention, most GA/FAs will either degrade or the standards will change such that they'll lose their status within a few years. It's not really worth the effort to me; I'd rather start missing articles so that notable subjects have a foothold to grow on. It seems to be a more permanent foundation to build off of. Best of luck with it. Chubbles 22:43, 16 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

From the land of sun and condors

[edit]

By the by, Loveless is damn near GA status; we're just waiting for your contributions from the Creation Records book. Especially important since Shields spends an awful lot of space the 33 1/3 tome refuting most everything written about the band in that book. Balance of POVs and all that. WesleyDodds 00:52, 21 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A while back you mentioned you had a list of your 20 favorite bands. And those would be . . . ? WesleyDodds 04:27, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hooky and the boys (both incarnations) are our sole "most favorites" overlap, although from the remainder of the list, the ones I'm familiar with (which would be all but 18th Dye, Richie Hawtin, White Noise, and Stina Nordenstam) I appreciate. Well, except for the Smiths, but that's mainly 'cause of Morrissey. They have some jaunty rhythms, I'll give them that. I must especially point out that around 2005 I was utterly bestotted with Take Fountain, particularly "Always the Quiet One" and "Ringway to Seatac". WesleyDodds 08:26, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've been a bit ahead of you: [3]. To be fair, that's a list of bands that I wouldn't mind working on articles about rather than a straight favorites list. I could put them in order if you'd like. WesleyDodds 08:31, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Up late. It's 1:44 AM right now. I keep odd hours, but they do allow me to work with you and CloudNine more effectively. WesleyDodds 08:46, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You get bonus points if you pick up on the "clever" joke on my list. WesleyDodds 08:50, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Closest thing I have to a guilty pleasure is INXS, I suppose. I'm more up front about liking ridiculous clap. A few weeks back I was seriously considering trying to turn "Relax" by Frankie Goes to Hollywood into an FA. WesleyDodds 08:54, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I went to visit her in Italy last year I bought a Swell Maps CD in some Italian record store. I also read a John Peel bio she had. Now that I think about it I should've cited that book while I was there. WesleyDodds 09:10, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

She used to date my roommate. I'm a gentleman, what can I say. WesleyDodds 09:20, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're also assuming I had a chance. WesleyDodds 09:29, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure I can do a top twenty songs. "Bullet with Butterfly Wings"? "Just Like Heaven"? "Temptation"? "Search and Destroy"? "Day Tripper"? "When I Come Around"? "Strangelove"? My head's beginning to spin at the mere thought. But you are certainly free to craft such a list. WesleyDodds 09:42, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Can you agree with me that this is a great song with a rather lacking video, at least? WesleyDodds 10:23, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nope. Didn't know Cope had any until I was editing Courtney Love today. I will agree with you that the Bunnymen song from Pretty in Pink is their finest moment when you concur with me that other Anton Corbijn videos such as this are great. And [this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjRYifPHPgo] one (rather racy). And this one too, but you already knew that was great. WesleyDodds 10:23, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I have "World Shut Your Mouth" on a compilation. Same one that has "Black Celebration". And "Monkey Gone to Heaven", "A Forest", "Ana Ng", and quite a number of other songs. And, uh, "This Charming Man". WesleyDodds 10:30, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

When I first came upon them I went straight for the cover of "Pride (In the Name of Love)". I vaguely recall checking out a few others. I only remember that one, though. WesleyDodds 10:34, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Know what's not better than the original? She Wants Revenge. Joy Division and Interpol should sue. And probably Bauhaus, while we're at it.[4] WesleyDodds 10:45, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
By the way, how do you rate your goth bands? Me, I'm big on The Cure and Bauhaus. Never really got into the Banshees, although there are some great tunes ("Spellbound", for one). Only like a few Sisters songs. Can't really stand The Mission or Fields of the Nephilim. WesleyDodds 10:52, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"Five"? (Finally going to bed) WesleyDodds 12:30, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'll try and make a list to show you. I have the feeling you won't like half of them. WesleyDodds 04:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

What the deuce? WesleyDodds 09:58, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I'm having a hell of a time trying to figure out where Control will be shown near me. WesleyDodds 05:46, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It occured to me when throwing songs about regarding the difficulty of picking my favorite songs I had ended up listing quite a few of my favorite songs. Add "Dear Prudence", "Vapour Trail", "Disarm", "Pretty Persuasion", "I Apologize". WesleyDodds 20:50, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I went ahead and moved Joy Division to the fourth quarter FA goal list. I vow to finish it by the end of October. WesleyDodds 10:23, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I missed you. I thought your wanking was good btw. Too bad your recent prize has unbusified you from writing here, but I agree with your priorities... –Outriggr § 05:56, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I passed the GA for that article. Ain't it good enough? –Outriggr § 09:35, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is medication for that... –Outriggr § 09:40, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
hehe. Maybe you can recommend some 'wake the fuck up' varieties for me. (and how about that barnstar appearing outta the blue?) –Outriggr § 09:46, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Gosh are you trying to make me blush? Two barnstars in ten minutes? You wrote the damn articles.

I, Outriggr, return this found award to Ceoil for outstanding work on the FAs Symphony No. 3 (Górecki), Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion, and Triptych, May–June 1973. –Outriggr § 10:01, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
(I dunno what was fast) thanks again, I'm heading off now, good nite!Outriggr § 10:10, 22 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Somebody's been busy tonight... –Outriggr § 06:25, 23 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I'm glad you kept the barnstar above, but I wanted to warn you that someone, somewhere, sometime, will eventually delete that Bacon "fair-use image in user space". Now that I've pointed it out, it is more likely to happen. Ain't life a bitch? I think it would be amusing to put a "Fair use in User:Ceoil/things" entry on the image page. –Outriggr § 00:41, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You can change English-variant spelling on my talk page all you want... It don't bother me. We Canadians are flexible and somewhere in between Am and UK, which nobody has formalized as a third way here on wp (a middle way, you might say). I suppose someone will argue that's because the Canadian contingent isn't outspoken on the matter, as if to further the old stereotype—and to that I would reply: precisely, we're not that f-ing anal. I don't give a damn about grey or gray, honour or honor, realise or realize (well, I have to admit that -ise on most words antagonises me). So if you see "honour" and "realize" in the same article by me, don't tell me I'm not following some schtyle manual—I'm writing Canadian English. Hi! –Outriggr § 06:08, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You are Canadian? Very good; all the best editors are either Canadian or Corkonian. You, me, and a few other. Which leaves Weasley and Sandy. I have a machine in my back garden; you put in yanks and you get out Canadians/Irish (depending on which button you press). Sounds good no? My bank account number is 56457-129114324, send as much as you want in multiples of 100K. Thanks again. Ceoil 19:46, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You betcha. Corkonian is a red-link that you better redirect if you really have any homeland pride. Cool machine. Who needs that worthless yank-buck anyhow? If I were to take my $5 Canadian, I'd get $5.028 US. Can't you feel the power and economic pride? –Outriggr § 20:55, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Crap, It's gonna suck when I take another trip to Europe. WesleyDodds 20:59, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah. You should probably vote for fiscally conservative Democrats this time. :) –Outriggr § 21:03, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You won't believe how hard it is to convince people here that they don't have to vote for a party line, or that there's more than two political parties for that matter. Me, next election I'm voting for Mr. T. Fools will be pitied. WesleyDodds 21:29, 29 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Enought already. Cash please. Did I mention that my bank account number is 6457-129114324. Thats 6457-129114324.
SIXfourFive, da da Seven, 129 da da 11 du du 3324 boom! four. Ceoil 00:27, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Ye can remeember that guys; right? Ceoil 00:59, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No.
Now write some articles! You can get in big trouble for inflating your precious edit count with such shenanigans. I will be back in roughly seven hours, at which time I will be in no condition to do either; but that won't stop me. In fact, I am going to make Las Meninas an FA before you. What do you think of them apples? –Outriggr § 01:18, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I dont like them apples. Do you have any better apples. Or what? Ceoil 01:41, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly. How about these apples. –Outriggr § 07:01, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Nice. I going to shut up now. Out. Ceoil 18:25, 30 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
