Absolutely - bloody - brilliant. Congratulations to the anonymous author who was able to complete the story. I've found a few reviews and mentions in the popular press:

  • "A moving and tragic tale of one of the icons of our time."
  • "A moving and tragic tale that tells the story of why we should be able to strangle the nobility while they are still young, to prevent them from telling their moving and tragic tales. Reading this, I was moved and tragiced."
  • News item: PETA and ALF protest pelican and otter-hound abuse, question failure to curb yappy little dogs."
  • "A tour de force. Finally, some original writing".
  • "Excellent use of images. Looking at the faces, one can clearly see the dangers of Facism[sic]."
  • "I liked the part where the guy got his ear ripped off. Also the special effects showing scary monsters were even better than my Pong game."
  • "Has anyone seen my black running shoes?"

All in all, a noble effort. Well done. Franamax (talk) 02:25, 23 November 2008 (UTC) :Is this joke article gonna be deleted, too? GoodDay (talk) 18:27, 23 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

this should be a Fatured Article of Humor!!!! start the review! it must be on the main page of humor immediately! Aunva6 (talk) 18:17, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I'm very much afraid that my esteemed and most noble great aunt finds all forms of publicity vulgar and repugnant. Therefore, your kind offer must be rejected.  Giano  19:57, 20 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Oh, oh, where is the main page of humor? I wanna edit it! darwinbish BITE 20:32, 20 March 2013 (UTC).[reply]
Humour (humor) is, as humour does. Her Ladyship feels that one of the first things that Wikipedia should do is to learn to spell the word. Her Ladyship dislikes American spellings; Her Ladyship feels that the USA spelling system (or lack of one) can only be the first step of a downward and very slippery slope. Lady Catherine will be raising this issue when she advises President Obama at the forthcoming Wikipedia conference at the White House; a rather exclusive Wiki meet-up. Tickets for which are available from De Burgh Events, George Town, Cayman Islands, - very reasonably priced at $5,000,000 - from which, after her considerable expenses, Her Ladyship will make a charitable donation. Compromised account?

[edit]

Excuse me? "Reports of death exaggerated"? "Catatonic illness"?[1] What about the four dead years (sorry, but I can't think of a more delicate way of putting it) 2008 — 2012, and the miracle of cryogenics? See lead section. Memory going just a little, huh? Or has some underling with shady motives broken into Lady C's account? Bishonen | talk 20:09, 21 March 2013 (UTC).[reply]

I rather think, Mrs Bishonen, I am better placed to discuss my health then you. However, it's quite normal for a person of your advanced years to become mentally confused. I really don't think a small absence of four years is anything to explain. If, like me, you took an interest in your appearance, you would know it takes time for the scars to heal and the hair to recover the forehead. I have had a very difficult and tragic life and I resent your implications, which can only be born of deep jealousy and bitterness. "I expect you are from America so you can be forgiven"

Heavens to Murgatroyd! I'll have you know Lady Catherine, that I am a proud and loyal subject of Her Majesty the Queen — Many a long winter evening has been passed at Hillbilly Hall with the whole family falling into heated debate over the relative merits of the "gas candelabrum" versus the "gasolier" ..Dear Mr Plantaganet is quite intransigent on the matter. — Lady Marchpane (aka Hillbillyholiday talk)

A nation awaits your wise and sophisticated political advice

[edit]
Your Ladyship. I hope these depressing times find you well and that your fortitude in the face of a world gone mad is robust. Firstly, do forgive my slight breach of etiquette in not approaching your highly efficient private secretary first, in broaching this vital matter. The printing concern that I patronise for the production of my calling cards has let me down badly. My latest order for 50,000 arrived yesterday with an embarrassing typographical error which I shall not repeat to one with such noble sensitivities. Suffice to say I shall be taking my custom elsewhere. I have one simple, yet burning question. Will your Ladyship be publishing Her esteemed and highly popular (amongst the more discerning classes here) voters guide for the so called 'Arbcom' elections this year? Without such guidance from such an expert and experienced political analyst such as you, who has for much of the 20th and 21st centuries been the wise and compassionate guiding force behind some of the greatest political titans in recorded history, I fear that myself, and many more, will be without a compass as to the present 'candidates' social and political background, and may indeed vote into positions of power, quite the wrong type. I beg to remain your most obedient servant, Irondome (talk) 16:24, 29 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
