Orphaned fair use image (Image:KappaChiCrest.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:KappaChiCrest.gif. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. I meant to request deletion of that nearly a year ago...It was used legally, it just never was used...if that makes sense...thanks...--CastAStone|(talk) 19:55, 5 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Dear editor, I replied to your suggestion of making the page above a guideline on its talk page: Wikipedia talk:Arguments to avoid in deletion discussions. Your input is appreciated, regards, --Cpt. Morgan (Reinoutr) 20:27, 6 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Village Pump (Policy)

[edit]

No,it should be me apologising! My WP:POINT was a joke. You said you "liked" the potential policy put forward, which involved countering the "I Like It" defence. I did leave a smiley at the end!! Honest!!! LessHeard vanU 13:26, 7 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This article made a variety of controversial claims about some entities and individuals, without any kind of decent source; and some of the people named complained to the Wikimedia Foundation (see m:OTRS). As a consequence I speedy deleted it.

Such kind of articles should be backed by good sources. David.Monniaux 17:28, 15 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Jim Rome Show

[edit]

Thanks for rating the article. What would you suggest as improvements? I've got some ideas but some constructive criticism can't hurt. Also, had you planned on rating the other Rome-related articles? Willbyr (talk | contribs) 18:12, 9 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the suggestions. I've been working on cleaning up the article per your suggestions. The one thing that still lacks is cites for the material in the article, but I hope to get started on hunting links and quotes soon. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 19:13, 15 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Got a question about sourcing. Stucknut has a library of audio files of material from the radio show, both from Rome and from callers. It's a Java program, or something similar, so I can't directly link to the files, but what I can do is provide a referential link of sorts, something to the effect of:
www.stucknut.com - Takebox - (category of file) - (name of file)

Would this be sufficient as a source for a particular piece of information? I'm going to try to find other sources, but this is about as direct as it gets. Willbyr (talk | contribs) 03:44, 22 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CastAStone, thanks for assisting in turning red links, blue on Template:Muscular Dystrophy. Image source problem with Image:BetaKappaPhiCrest.jpg

[edit]
Image Copyright problem
Image Copyright problem

This is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:BetaKappaPhiCrest.jpg. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:34, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Any interest in adminship?

[edit]

I have thought that you would be good at this for quite a while. Please do accept, and I look forward to hearing from you. Cheers, DavidJ710 (talk) 02:48, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

CastAStone, this is only the second time I've gone to a persons talk page, but I highly recommend your pulling your nomination. You do not have the experience necessary to pass an RFA. DavidJ has less than 75 TOTAL edits, so I don't know what was motivating him to ask you for nomination. But I have to suspect that it was to embarrass you. David, posted your RFA to the RFA page BEFORE he came here to ask you about it.Balloonman (talk) 04:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you're right, How would I go about that?CastAStone|(talk) 04:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps to to ANI? Also, I think Balloonman may be right. The nom said "he does a great part in fighting vandalism", but I only see a few vandal warnings in your contribs. Cheers,JetLover (Report a mistake) 04:19, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
David claims to be a good friend of yours in real life. Is this true? If it is, then ANI would not be appropriate. If it isn't true, then ANI is entirely appropriate. Per your request, I went ahead an pulled your nom. It already had 2 opposes and 4 neutrals (but all were saying what I said above.) Here is the page as it stood when I pulled it Also, you can see the edits on the page. He posted your nomination originally at 2:31 and then asked you about it at 2:48. Balloonman (talk) 04:40, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't request anything, just asked how to go about it if a pile-on started. That being said it might not be the worst of ideas. I was much more involved in 2005 and 2006 than I am now, this is obvious. I know I'll be a good admin someday, so I figured I'd leave the nom up for a little while to see where it went. I do know David, we went to college together. The nom is not in bad faith, he doesn't have the RfA experience to know that my edit count is too low. Thanks.--CastAStone|(talk) 04:54, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A discussion about this has arisen here--Jac16888 (talk) 04:55, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I will nominate you again, someday, but first I am going to up my edit count so as to keep from attracting such negative attention. Beer in the Shower! -DavidJ710 (talk) 05:17, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Since Miranda made a genuine attempt to improve the article, I thought it was in good faith and I userfied the draft back to her userspace. Substantively you are correct though. The draft did not address the concerns that led to the deletion. Best, IronGargoyle (talk) 21:55, 5 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thanks for the message at my talkpage. I have sprotected the talkpage for the duration of the 31hour block. If they return then a longer block/protection can be considered then, I feel, and a determination if the address is static enough for a long block. I hope this suffices for the time being. AfD nomination of Caroline Killeen

[edit]

I have nominated Caroline Killeen, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Caroline Killeen. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Lankiveil (talk) 02:40, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

No worries - certainly I never mean it personally when I take stuff to AfD and I have (very occasionally) been known to be wrong ;-). Lankiveil (talk) 02:59, 28 December 2007 (UTC).[reply]

about the comment with respect to ANB. Considering one or two people have mentioned that I tend to sometimes extend AGF initially to people who turn out to be spammers, I guess its good to have it obvious that I do take spamming seriously. :) DGG (talk) 17:05, 28 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Speedy deletion of FreeCreditReport.com

[edit]

A tag has been placed on FreeCreditReport.com requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for web content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Jfire (talk) 04:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You're right, I did jump the gun on this one, sorry. I even remember reading about this site in the news, in one of those "don't get fooled" articles. I guess I figured the article was just going to be the same scam... Thanks for the response. Jfire (talk) 05:59, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Simon tudor and his band

[edit]

I'm assuming good faith in this case. Since the articles noted that it was a two-member band, I'll give the benefit of the doubt that it might have been the other band member. Additionally, the two accounts have not individually or collectively reached a point of getting final-level warnings, so they aren't multiple accounts used to avoid/evade a block … yet. (And it looks like they've gone quiet for the night.) That said, I've written a polite "Hi, I noticed there's a coincidence in your account names and edit histories" message at User talk:Tudorsi2, hopefully in a way that isn't as biting as just slapping a sockpuppet template on the talk page. —C.Fred (talk) 06:18, 30 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]
